I'm still working through a total read of the rules; why would I want to Slam? It seems like most Warjacks would benefit more from attacking with their weapon during a charge. If I Slam, that's all I do with that jack for the round correct?
Your movement and combat action are part of the slam. If you have additional focus, you may purchase additional attacks.

Slamming over a model knocks them down. Many many warcasters have learned the hard way that hiding behind the robot is a death sentance.
That and when playing tournaments being able to remove models from specific areas is game winning.
It actually gets worse - the slammed model takes collateral damage, as well as is knocked down. Hiding behind large based models usually is a risky proposition. It typically is the prelude to an assassination attempt, and a knocked down warcaster/warlock is in a bad spot and usually dead.
Now I see why the Paladin + Vilmon honor guard makes more sense then. They don't count as an obstacle though, so a thrown or slammed jack could potentially pass through them and still deal collateral damage, right?

Correct. Where paladins really shine is holding zones in scenarios. Uprooting one either via death or a movement effect is a tough thing to do.
After digging around with the cards in WR 2, IMO it looks like Siege wants Reinholdt for his attachment, since Ground Pounder is no longer CRTL so no buff from the Squire.
I'm actually digging the choice with the attachments too.

I would counter with the Squire. Siege can magesight away stealthed models just fine without Reinholdt, and because his feat is CTRL, you want as much on it as you can when you drop it. An extra POW 14 shot is decent, no argument. YMMV.
I already long for the days when I could have taken both.
Next question: if I have a unit with a trooper out of formation, I must advance towards or run directly towards my unit commander. So if that trooper has the speed, can I advance back into the commander's control range and then outside it again? Say to prosecute a melee attack?
Related, if the unit commander is thrown (for example) and the rest of the unit is still engaged in melee and now outside his or her command range, they would all have to break and suffer free strikes to rejoin with him or her, correct? If it's an officer, can the leader regain control temporarily?
Did they drop hints about that new faction? Wasn't really paying attention.
You didn't miss anything. The 'keynote' was a short video alluding to the new Hordes faction, and some half-hearted applause. Looked kinda Halloween like? Blair Witch faction? Dunno.
So...it's like a Halloween Town faction? Pumpkin heads and crazy fey monsters? I'm Cryxian to the core, but that's my kind of jam right there.

Apparently the Hollow Men actually refers to some Devourer Cult that dabbled in necromancy to the point where they slowly, unwittingly became Thamarites. A lot of undead/soulless types who gain sentience after devouring enough souls or something. I forget. There was a blurb about them in one of the more recent IK books.
The cards are all available via the War Room 2 app, which gives you the option of just buying specific factions, all warmachine or hordes, or all of everything.

I was looking at the High Reclaimer, I couldn't believe that they took his cloud from 1 Focus to 2. Then I started thinking about running a Redeemer spam line. With Wracks and a Hierophant, that's 3 dust clouds and a Sacrificial Pact every turn. I remember having a lot of fun with him Mk1, maybe I'll try him out.
What do people think about Vilmon and the Paladins?
He sat his dudes on a hill while I marched up Zealots in front of a jack wall (with Passage), while Cleansers hid behind a house and put my Cinerators in a forest. On his turn he managed to kill all the screening Zealots, then wrecked a Repenter (via Defenders) and killed the Monolith Bearer behind it, so I couldn't feat them. His hunters annihilated my Cinerators, which is fine because it left two Repenters alive, though his Long Gunners+Sloan killed off the Vanquisher. On my turn I managed to set all his 4 jacks, Sloan and the Squire on fire (thank you Cleansers and Repenters). Rhupert gave Feora Pathfinder to escape the forest I parked her in. This gave me the unexpected 2" extra threat range to land the Heavy Flamethrower and Convections. Ended up killing her with two boosted POW 12s, further cementing prevailing wisdom.
So my friends are all jazzed about mk3 and I used to play way back in mk1. I'm probably going to join them and play some Cryx (especially now that they're not absurdly good at unstoppable infantry swarms, so I won't feel bad...)
On a first read, the new armour piercing rules seem ridiculous and I want to run, like.... 6 Ripjaws with Skarre1 so Dark Guidance can make those critical hits happen. With the Withershadows casting her ritual sacrifice for extra focus each turn.
Chain attack spoiled the grown up JWC cards on their Facebook page
Jakes gets escort and positive charge. Her feat gives all friendly faction models immunity: electricity, parry, and makes their melee weapons RNG 2 with E-leap
She also has acrobatics, sprint, and field marshal: sprint.
I'm thinking she's going to love Hammersmiths and Centurions.
I probably should swing by the PP booth sometime, didn't see anything interesting for Minions other than possibly the new Brigands multi-unit kit, and that's not exactly high priority. Maybe when the line calms down.

So, will be playing in a Battle Box tournament this Sunday.
Bought a Ret Battle Box last friday and put together the models over that weekend. Had hope to do some basic painting during the week but started a new job after more than a year without work and have been lacking the energy to do anything during the evenings.
I collected a small force of Ret figures during mrk 2 but never got around to playing it. So I'm looking forward to finally playing some games.
Now I just need to read through the rules tomorrow and maybe watch PPs youtube intro video again.
Pretty new to this, just got the Khdaor battle box for the new addition and haven't played any games yet. Just perusing the rules...
So I've got a question about the spell Chosen Ground. It's got a AOE of CTRL. The Khdaor caster has a Focus of 6 and the spell costs 2. So, my question is, is the AOE of the spell always 12" or is it, at most, 8" and possibly less if you keep spending Focus? How about a different spell that has a RNG of CTRL? Does the range decrease as you spend Focus? Does the Focus used to cast the spell count towards determining RNG or AOE or are those determined after paying the price for the spell?

To expand on what Nobody said, when the rules are talking about the stat they'll call it FOC, when they're talking about the number of focus points on the model they'll call it Focus.
Kozlov has Precision Strike which lets me choose the column on a Jack that I deal damage to. If the Jack has a force field (Scyrah Jacks) am I able to ignore it?
Star Actions / Attacks: If you do a Star Ability does your activation end or are you able to buy more attacks? For example, say a Manticore uses Covering Fire, could it then buy another attack with its Cyclone Cannon for d3 more shots?
Page numbers from the rules would be great for my own future reference if possible.

You have to strip the Scyrah shields before you start doing any column damage.
Using a *Action takes up your Combat Action. If for some reason you could make additional attacks (spending Focus/Fury) to buy additional attacks you can. (Skarre1 for example) The Manticore would need the Reload Special rule to be able to buy additional Ranged Attacks but sadly it does not have it.
Long story long... No, you can't Covering Fire and then shoot the Cyclone Cannon in the same Combat Action.

Which allowed him to give pathfinder to jacks.
They will now change it to "target friendly warrior model/unit."

Gotta love settin' shit on fire.
Bone Grinders are BAMF's. Especially under Carver's feat, making them 10+5d6's charging enemy warbeasts.
Slapping them with Grievous Wounds as well is just insult on top of injury. (suck it trolls, no snacking for YOU)
Prey on top of Veteran Leader actually makes Brigands hella-nasty at range.
I really need to remember to take my Overtake moves. As well as Reposition. Always forget.

Edit- I could be a victim of relying on old man memory and being totally wrong on the wording. Sorry.

So in his case it'll always be 12 unless he's under some kind of effect that lowers his FOC stat.

Kozlov is so good. My buddy is loving him. He's kind of a Butcher-lite with a few different tricks.
