Also, is there any reason he's fixated on 550% ? I mean, I assume it's from somewhere, since if it was just complete fabrication, it'd be at least 1000%, but what's he misinterpreting to get to that figure?
No, it's an accurate number. It goes from 1,000 to 55,000 I believe.
It just sounds so much scarier as a percentage.
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKERS
The pundits on MSNBC still trying to dig for means of making this a horse race when I cannot even begin to imagine how the Dems are supposed to lose with this kind of stark juxtaposition.
Like I said, I expect polls next week to reverse hard, and for Hillary to hold the lead going away. Debate season is going to be Trump's downfall with independents and on the fence voters. I can only imagine the finger nail chewing going on at Trump HQ at the thought of sticking him in front of national TV audiences against the Hilary Clinton we saw tonight. They're dreaming up every way possible for him not to insert his foot squarely down his own throat.

During a Sept. 20 appearance on CBS' Face the Nation, Clinton was asked if President Barack Obama's plan to increase the number allowed into the United States to 10,000 was enough. (The United States had accepted about 2,000 in 2015.)
"Look, we’re facing the worst refugee crisis since the end of World War II, and I think the United States has to do more, and I would like to see us move from what is a good start with 10,000 to 65,000 and begin immediately to put into place the mechanisms for vetting the people that we would take in," Clinton said.
"Planting seeds in a garden we may never see" was by far my favorite line of the entire debate. I thought the speech overall was slightly overshadowed by Obama, but man...that line.
Ok MSNBC, no interviewing holdouts from the Sanders camp.
C-Span interviewed some non-stupid Bernie supporters.
They did have one call in (from California, of course) who said Hillary was a criminal and she just could not believe that Hillary didn't talk about wikileaks and campaign fraud in her speech and so she was voting Green party (good, do it. Doooo eeeeeet. You live in California, your vote is meaningless).

It's a common rhetorical trick to make the number look bigger than it really is. Say his plan is to let 1 refugee in, but her plan is to let 5 refugees in. If he complains that "she's going to let 5 whole refugees in!", then he sounds like a worrywart. But if he says "She's going to let 400% more refugees in!", that sounds a lot more threatening.

I'm not sure Trump actually subscribes to the philosophical notion of numbers as representations of constant values.

He just lets the short guys in yarmulkes handle all his numbers and makes up the rest as he goes along.

Ugh. CNN people complaining why she didn't bring up her negatives and try to explain that there's a right wing conspiracy or why people call her untrustworthy.

Sigh I wish there weren't people keeping a reign on the Donald's Twitter account (ya, it's clear he didn't write those) and he just tweeted whatever

First debate, Hillary needs to just turn to Trump and say "Radical Islam," then answer the question.
Also, fun facts:
Text of Trump's acceptance speech does not contain the words "Radical Islam" (it does have one "Radical Muslims" and one "Islamic radicals")
I'd make a Tarkin comparison but Tarkin was hella competent.
Cool thanks to Trump I know now yet another fact about Hillary that makes me want to vote for her.

How is it a real strategy to just take what DNC says and go "Nuh uh!!!!'
Bill is like "she is a change maker, she makes things better wherever she goes"
Trump: "No, it's the opposite! For reals!"
Who owns the twitter handle? Could, like, they keep Donald from getting it in the nightmare scenario?

I think I remember reading somewhere that they are attached to the office, not the person.
