Hiya folks. Let's walk around Seattle together! We're changing things up a little this time, so if you've done an MMT with me before, this one may be a little different.

First! Everybody is into them pokeymans (team red!) and half the group would be stopping to catch things anyway, so let's plan for that. Does anyone have/know of a map of pokestops and/or pokemon spawn points in the area?
Second! keeping track of time and sticking to a schedule was really cutting into my enjoyment of the tour. Instead there's going to be a list of places we'll go each day, in the order we'll visit them. Exact times will be based on when we feel like leaving the place we're at. At South this year, we wound up skipping a place entirely because the zoo was awesome and we elected to stay there instead. This means staying with the group and/or following the twitter is important.
And Third! Let's ditch the voting and google forms of previous years. If you have a strong opinion of a place you'd like to see, just post it here. Other than that, I'm going to pick things I'd like to go again or have always wanted to go but never make the cut. This is my 5th time (I think) leading this tour in Seattle and I'm sick of hitting the same spots every time. This is my show and if you don't like it, start a mutiny already! :P

Now, some places I plan on visiting:
Lake View Cemetery: a hear a Hitmonlee spawns around Bruce Lee's grave
Olympic Sculpture Park: I've always wanted to go here
Woodland Park Zoo?: something about looking at animals while catching pokemon amuses me

I've never been to Seattle before, so this would be fun :) I'd personally like to visit the first REI...but that's because I'm an outdoor geek...

How much is Seattle transport? Can you buy an all day pass?

This is a great idea! I will be arriving on Thursday so I will keep an eye on the twitter feed. Bruce Lee's grave is also on my list of things to see outside of Pax.

Seattle doesn't do an all day pass per say. everything is per ride. I recommend looking up Seattle Transit, and consider getting an ORCA card if you plan on coming back to Seattle.

Still sad I mostly missed you all at East this year. I'll definitely be there.

Went for a walk today and noticed not too many people playing Pokemon Go. Is it not popular any more? Because I know I am still addicted to this crazy game. Also, super pumped for this. Never have seen much of Seattle besides the Pike Place Market(which is fantastic and I recommend going to see it if you haven't). It'll be interesting to see all the places around the wonderful city that is Seattle!

Yay! I've never been able to do an MMT before because I lived in Alaska and haha hotel costs but I moved to Mill Creek in January so this is totally doable now  I gotta prep for my events on Thursday but Wednesday I can come hang out and be a nuisance ^_^ I'd be very much into checking out less well known areas during the MMT since I live here and can go do big museum/zoo stuff whenever but I'm definitely not gonna say no to anything involving airplanes, seeing the EMP Star Trek exhibit, or spending the day with neat critters at the zoo or aquarium.

I've only lived in Seattle for less than a year and I am SO down to do some more exploring!

I have to put in my vote for the Ballard Locks. I've been there three or four times in the evenings (between 6 and 8pm) and it has yet to disappoint. Loads of water Pokemon and a beautiful park to boot.

Can't wait to meet you guys!

  • punziepunzie Cookie Pimp Registered User regular
Question: do y'all want to do similar things all day or break it up? Like, zoo & aquarium one day, cemetery & parks the other, or mix&match? I plan to make a rough schedule tomorrow.

I can't wait to meet all of you as well! I find that PAX is great for making friends(even if they far away)! And to answer your question @punzie breaking things up isn't bad....may give people things to look forward to if they're not into the current activity(I'm planning on doing IT ALL!!!!!). Although if we do sets, then that wouldn't be bad. Maybe a possibility could be things close together(that way we don't waste as much time travelling from place to place)....just an idea. I can't wait to see the rough schedule...I'm hoping to catch Pike Place Market, but not sure if that'll be with this group, or separately....I've been last year, and it was absolutely fantastic! Cheese, Fish, Bread, and whatever else you could dream of! Simply the best farmer's market in the world!

I went searching for comfirmation the hitmonlee does indeed spawn around Bruce Lee's grave. (I don't remember where I read that.) I stumbled upon this Reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemongo/comments/4sv3u7/hitmonlee_now_reigns_at_bruce_lees_grave/
Scroll down a little and they discuss to parks that have a lot of hitmonchan and hitmonlee. With that in mind, I present 1 day of the 2-day schedule:

    9-10am explore pike place market
10am meet at pig under market sign, start walk to Cal Anderson Park
    ?? Explore park, catch pokemons
?? Walk to Lunch box Laboratory
    12-ish? Lunch
    1pm-ish catch bus to Greenlake
?? Walk around lake, catch pokemons
    ?? Woodland Park Zoo

    And here's the other day:

    9am-10am explore pike place market
10am meetup at pig under market sign, start walking to aquarium
    ?? Aquarium
    12-ish Lunch- crab pot maybe?
1pm-ish walk to Olympic sculpture park
    ?? Wander park, catch pokemons
    ?? Seattle center/emp/space needle

I was gonna squeeze a duck boat in there but then I saw that it's $35. It's fun and all, but that price seems too high to me.
Does anyone have a preference for which schedule we do on which day? Traditionally, I leave y'all in Seattle center on Thursday afternoon, but we can switch it up this year if the Thursday only peeps prefer the other schedule.

Hi punzie, I'm traveling solo to Seattle this year for PAX, looking forward to meeting everyone and making new friends. I'm arriving Wednesday night and I'm up to hang out on Thursday! :-)

  • TOGSolidTOGSolid Drunk sailor Seattle, WashingtonRegistered User regular
Might need to show up in the afternoon cause I gotta pick up some TWTD stuff that day D:

Sounds like the first half will mostly just be Pokémon anyway so meeting at the zoo sounds pretty perfect. The Thursday stuff starts early enough that I think I can show up at the aquarium and do lunch with everyone before I gotta go. :D

Schedule locked in now. At 10am each day we'll meet at the pig under the market sign at the end of Pike St. It's right in front of the fish throwers. Feel free to explore the market before that.

BRING SMALL BILLS and maybe some quarters. This is useful for tips and bus fares.

Public transit & you: bus rides are $2.50 and come with a free 2hr transfer ticket.
If you take the light rail from the airport, you can buy an orca card ($5) when you purchase your light rail fare. Load it with some money and you won't have to deal with the cash on the bus. Then keep it for future Seattle trips.

I dint check the thread while we're out and about. Sorry folks. The best way to get me is via the Twitter: @PAX_MMT It pings my phone when I have a message so I can respond right away (usually).

Today was a small crew, but that means I'll remember all your names/faces when I see you again in the future. We'll meet at the pig in front of the fish throwers in the market again tomorrow morning at 10. Wander the market before then and see what you can see.
