U mad?

sarukunsarukun RIESLINGOCEANRegistered User regular
Do you ever get just fucking furious for no discernible reason? Like, just a bunch of little things pile onto some bigger life frustrations and for reasons you can't articulate, all of a sudden you're in the blackest, most absolutely shit mood? I'm at work right now really trying to hold onto my shit, and for some reason I thought maybe a little commiseration might help.

What just fucking pisses you right off, SE++? What takes the jelly out of your donut, and how on earth to you get right with yourself so people don't think you're an unbridled maniac?

Right now? Government bureaucracy. I'm unemployed and I'm trying to navigate my country's byzantine unemployment insurance program to get some fucking support. We are required by law to pay into this stupid program but when we need it? They make it as hard as humanly possible to actually use it. People get mad at insurance companies for pulling this shit, this is the fucking government doing it.

Right now I'm getting mad about the little "[Program] is looking for a solution to the problem" message that displays after you try to close a problem. It's probably irrational. The program is just trying to help, and it's just one more click, but I already decided to abort the program, dammit! If I wanted a solution I'd have found one myself! It's extra frustration on top of a situation that was already irritating.

Anyway, that's my little "I don't know why this actually bothers me to the degree it does" problem.

Usually the only thing that makes me actually angry are oblivious drivers on the road, but the recent political state in the US has shown me I am capable at getting angry at people that are just woefully uninformed and make no effort whatsoever to not be, yet still spread rumors as fact.

Monday mornings. Not in the lol Monday sense, because I would come in Sunday to fix the mess if I could. But in the fuck, the weekend supervisor does jack and shit, sense. So I am increasingly trying to fix her mess, and do my job. And I know I am going to get in some trouble soon for not being in the lab more. But I keep having to run around doing things noone else feels like dealing with. Coupled with the fact that I'm supposed to supervise people who work 8-5, when I work 6-3, and the 2:30-12 ( which is somehow a 10.5 hour shift) guy doesn't want to deal with " my" people...

If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing

Error messages on Apple devices. Specifically the messages, not the errors themselves, which are an unavoidable phenomenon. I like Apple OSes better overall but at least when something goes wrong on a Windows machine the error message usually has a number attached that you can look up. On Apple devices it's usually more like, "Something went wrong! How about that. Maybe try again later?"

    I'm fairly sanguine in general.

Except when I catch my headphones on something and they get pulled out of my ears. Then I will rage at an unfair universe and imagine a sea of faces just so I can punch them.

If someone enrages me I've found the best way for me is to find someone else who probably gets shit on more often than me and go out of my way to be nice to them, like a cashier or a waiter.

Or I'll just be extra courteous on the road and smile and wave people ahead of me even if I have right of way.

It doesn't always take it away but it backs me away from the murder zone.

Digging in rocky soil is probably the thing that infuriates me the most. Spade in, hit a rock, spade in a different place, hit a rock.

Bumping my head on something makes me real mad, which I guess is just natural reactions? Or maybe I've got some kind of repressed head bonking memory. I need to stay away from others and calm down a bit after bonking my head. Not even a hard bonk, the softer it is the angrier I get.

Oh wait, there's one thing that really got me good recently. Some asshole couple spreading lies that my parents are regularly beating the shit out of each other and resulting in them getting shunned by their so called friends.

That put me close to the edge of murder town.

Thinking about it, I really don't get bad moods that much. I shout and swear a lot and I have a (mostly joking) reputation with my colleagues as being "aggressive" but that's all more habit and my way of expressing myself. I'm not actually angry when I shout and swear.

I do get exasperated by people doing stupid things or being inconsiderate, which is a frequent occurrence in this job. But I genuinely almost never get properly angry since leaving the UK.

So if anyone wants advice on anger management I recommend moving across the planet to live in the bush.

Coworkers who constantly stop me in the middle of a task to help them do something completely unrelated.

Also when I ask for five seconds of help to lift something and they pretend not to understand, but I'll get dragged halfway across the kitchen to get something off a high shelf because I'm five inches taller.

Poor movement in the kitchen, like giving right of way to someone carrying a heavy or awkward load; people will try to duck in front of me or around me when I'm carrying a pot scalding hot water that weighs damn near eighty pounds. It's not safe and they know it, but they somehow haven't had any major accidents or serious injuries. Over the last two months, however, I have personally been whacked in the head with a large sauce pan, and I have two small burns on my right arm from people shoving me while I'm carrying trays of fish right out of the oven. Oh, and somebody SWAT-kicked the swinging door to the cooler while I was reaching for it and damn near broke one of my fingers; it was only because I was looking through the window that I managed to yank my hand back in time, so I ended up jamming the knuckle instead; that was over a week ago and it's still tender.

Shit like this happens on a daily basis. If I were still in the military, I would consider it hazing, but it's not; it's just a kitchen full of people who honestly see nothing wrong with their behavior.

My #1 pet peeve, right here. I don't work in a kitchen, but a warehouse with surprising little room to maneuver sometimes, and everyone else is apparently in a bigger hurry than the dude carrying a heavy item.

    It takes a lot

    A lot

To make me angry, and when I finally am, it takes a while for me to settle back down

The sole exception to this rule is when I have to fix the fucking internet. I uh, also tend to say mean things I will later regret to anyone nearby in the process, especially if they crack the "you're an engineer, fixing this should be easy" joke.

I am pretty sure my own personal hell would be sitting in front of a router with my laptop being completely unable to make it work. Fuck routers.

I guess I kinda yell angry things when someone kills me in call of duty or whatever.

But I don't stay mad long.

Usually I cool off within an hour or two at most and the only time I can think of that I was that angry I had to give a cop my PC as evidence! Bwam bwam.

I dunno I don't hold grudges at people who make me angry or upset either, or I don't like to, shit makes me sick to do and it's not productive. However that leads me to forgive people too readily too sometimes.

People who press the button for pedestrian crossings when the buttons already pressed, doubly so if they keep pressing it thinking it'll make the light change quicker.

This has no practical effect on me but it just makes me so angry!
