The music they're playing between runs isn't helping me resist the urge to dig up a bunch of old games to replay them.

Nobody remembers the singer. The song remains.

I've only played Ogre Battle 64, but it's basically hopeless omnibrand loyalty at this point. Wish I was played March of the Black Queen when it first came out.

Man, I spent so much money renting it because I couldn't find it, then I saved up half a year's worth of allowance to buy it. It cost around $120 from a dealer back then, in the days before ebay and Amazon.

Fortunately, when I bought it was around the same time that the PSOne version had come out, so I also bought the PSOne player's guide (there never was a player's guide to the SNES version, AFAIK). And since getting the BEST ENDING OF THE GAME is some super duper arcane bullshit (at least getting the 12 zodiac stones is the utmost stupid shit, most of it is just having a super high alignment, super high reputation, and visiting appropriate hidden temples/towns before beating bosses) that guide is still carried by me wherever I go. It's a little water damaged since it was in my house during the tornado...but I still use it as a reference from time to time : P

And hell, the damn thing is still wrong, since it tells you to get the best ending to use certain characters to fight the bosses, but you don't have to use any characters to fight any bosses to get the Best Ending. You do get extra dialogue if you use the appropriate characters, though, so that was appreciated.

EDIT: @Dubh you really really should play Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen, though. On the SNES. It's a much, much better game that 64 IMO, with a far far better story, the option to play as a woman, and a super expansive female cast. And since the most powerful class in the entire fucking game is the Princess class, transforming Aisha (who you get early on) from a cleric to a Princess gives you one of the most broken leaders in the game.

Then you give her Saradin as a Lich and the 3 Sky Knights [which includes Slust the Red (who has a weird line telling you to eat his sword), Fenril (a badass chick), and Fogel (a dragon man)] and you have the most busted unit in the game. The Sky Knights attack 3 times in the front with attack power as high as a dragon, Saradin as a Lich uses Attack All magic from the back, and Aisha as a princess uses attack all HOLY MAGIC

AND PRINCESSES AS LEADERS GIVES EVERYONE IN THEIR UNIT AN EXTRA ATTACK AS THEIR SPECIAL ABILITY, INCLUDING THEMSELVES

So you have a unit that has everyone attacking four times (except Aisha, who is only attacking everyone with Holy Magic twice, which nearly everything in the fucking game has zero resistances to).

Oh, and the Sky Knights? Their class is officially labeled as "Dragoon", the secret class you could only get one of in Ogre Battle 64. Yeah, Slust, Fenril, and Fogel are badass as fuck.

I love Ogre Battle 64 so much. I've played March of the Black Queen several times since then but I've never beaten it for some reason. One day!

Have you played either of the Tactics Ogres?

Have I played either of the Tactic Ogres, she asks.

Lady, on the GBA I figured out a start for speed running it when I was in high school, got the A+ rank secret ending as a result, and I have beaten all 100 levels of the temple of the dead in the PSP remake of the PSOne version (and also played through the Chaos, Law, and Neutral paths in full getting all secret characters including the new additions to the games). I love the Ogre Battle games, but the first holds a special place in my heart. Partially for the dorky translation, partially for the amazing gameplay, but mostly because the characters are that beautiful combination of interesting and amazingly useful. You come to love Canopus in that game not just because he has a great story, it because his unit is, by far, the best for liberating towns and secret areas.

I leave the stream for one poxy hour to drive home, and I miss the end of the MP2 run and Super Metroid Rotated?
    Unfair.
I assume it'll be worth looking up once they put it one youtube?

They are uploading much faster than previous years, I saw stuff go up like 12h after start.

I also did some pondering about which really long game I'd like to see, and though of Baldurs Gate.

Turns out all of them are in the 17 to 22mins range. With a lot of different tricks that make them interesting to see (Mostly around exploiting how dialogue options work)

Yeah it was after Prime 2, I guess that's what those tech blocks on the schedule are for.

That was doubly impressive because he pretty much didn't stop talking for that entire run. I'm legitimately impressed that he was able to be not only coherent, but informative without really repeating himself or searching for something to say.

Daikatana up next, huh? I have never once seen this game in motion. Time to become John Romero's bitch, I guess.
