Group Memberships?

Dear PA, I have noticed in my user panel that I can apply to join five groups (Team Backstreet Boys, Team DISCOVERY CHANNEL, Team Misanthrope, Team Q-izzers, and Team Unicorns).
  1. What are the incentives when one joins a group?
  2. Are there hidden groups that one can apply for after a certain achievement on the PA forum? (For example: Meeting the lower bound of a certain number of posts)
  3. Are there events organized by a certain group's leader that only members are sent invitations?

    We had a forum game one time. Trivia questions, I believe. Those were the teams. This was like a year ago. We haven't used the teams since for anything.
