If you buy the ships, yes. You can get TOS style weapons and kits, use TOS transporter and scan effects, etc. But after a point in the campaign some event propels you to 2409.
Worth adding that before that point your main enemies are frequently 25th century time travelers, and you even have a foray into the JJ universe. All three settings have their own effects (TOS cheesy and colorful, TNG more subtle and complex, and JJ has lense flare everywhere. When factions from different settings collide, they keep their separate effects, and it can get surreal.
They are 100% Tier 6 vestas, down to the hanger. Klingons get a new Gorn fighter pet with their ships, which is neat. Also saw elsewhere that they come with AUX Phaser/Disruptor/Plasma DHCs depending on faction, which is nice. I'm wondering if they will be equipable with the T5 Vesta cannons, it's unlikely, but would be pretty cool.

So it turns out that A) the Gorn ships are actually pretty cool when they are shown at an angle that doesn't make them look like a brick and the Romulan ones have a cool gravity lensing effect inside the drive ring that doesn't really show up on a still.
Also, today I hit 60 on my irresponsible Fed captain... I hadn't even completed Romulan mystery on her. But next week, I get to roll another fed captain from.... the past.
How are the AoY ships?
“I used to draw, hard to admit that I used to draw...”
I put turrets on my KDF fed's ship again since I got a set ranked up to XII with perks I like. Gonna wait until the next upgrade weekend before I go further. Really wish I could get my Ferengi missile spammer to improve in quality. Would buying a new one and trying to rank it up again be a better strat?
“I used to draw, hard to admit that I used to draw...”
So I'm flying the Avenger on my AoY Captain at the moment and I was wondering what'd be some good equipment for it. So far I have the Borg console and Cutting Beam array slapped onto it when it comes to reputation stuff. I could also use some Vo'quv-build advice too as I wanted to give some time to my KDF Sci-Captain.
SnicketysnickThe Greatest Hype Man inWesterosRegistered Userregular
The easiest way to go is to work out what weapon type you want to use (or more accurately, which one has the least irritating firing sound, I'm looking at you Antiproton, good god.) and have a look at the sets that support it. Polaron is particularly well served here, there's a lot of easy to acquire pieces or bits of sets that can be easily combined to stack up a lot of nice bonuses.
There's a couple of good summary pages in the stowiki to save you digging through all those reputation menus as well
I've not really played a carrier in a while so I can't help too much but I will say that the Wing Commander trait that you can find on the exchange is fantastic for improving the effectiveness of pets.
Well Wing Commander's like double-digit millions price-wise so I'm not gonna get that for a while. On a slightly different topic, I was thinking of picking up a ship from the C-Store sale going on this weekend. Fed-wise, I have the Atrox already but I wouldn't mind picking up the Jupiter too. I think I may want to grab an endgame ship for my two Romulan captains, an Engineer and a Science Officer. The Command Dreadnoughts look nice at first glance but I'm not sure if that's the best route to go. Anyone tried one yet?
EDIT: Sorry, meant the Dreadnought Warbirds. The Command Dreadnoughts are a different collection.
I don't have a command dread (it's not on console yet) but I do have their baby brothers, and the Scimitar, for instance, is a space brick that emits violent hilarious death and causes everything to explode. It is killy as FUCK.
The command dreads are like it, but better stats. I'm picking one up the second I can, because "holy pew pew pew".
Did you accidentally accept a random fleet invite yet, DP?
Nah, not been on in a while, been sucked into Warframe and assiduously not-playing since that Holiday thing. Second I ground out the last race for my ship, I got the ship, went to orbit, and logged the hell off to go do anything but racDON'TYOUWANTANEPOHHFRIEND?!e around that trEPOHH!ack for a while.
Should I? I imagine it'd take maybe 12 seconds once I logged in.

So out of the three Dreads, Command or Warbird series, which is the best one to pick up as I'm not up for dropping cash for either 3-ship bundle.

I'd assume the Khopesh, 'cause it's the Scimitar-equivalent, but if you're on PC you've got a whole bunch of consoles and such that we don't on Xbox, so I wouldn't like to say. I figure they'll all be pretty good though?
Edit: Ooh, Flambard's got a pretty nice trait though for space wizarding, looks like.
Slowly progressing my Fed captain through the campaigns, and I got a new andorian engy on her team. Her first mission with my captain is the one where they attack infiltrate the Reman base and then get into that fight. After the battle the boff has "combat stress" as an injury...
“I used to draw, hard to admit that I used to draw...”
A shield, engine, deflector, or warp core. They generally take more to upgrade than weapons or consoles, especially when you get to the final quality grind.
I thought the PS4 implementation was impressive, but ultimately moved back to PC because the non-transferrable lifetime membership thing was a deal-breaker. I ain't paying for another one, and I want a ship beyond 40 so....
Was nice to fly the defiant around and blow stuff up though. Have since gotten back into my liberated borg klingon engineer on PC. spent some of my lifetime monthly allowance on keys so I could get enough lobi to get the anniversary ship and once I specced my space stats correctly discovered the true power of tyken's rift!
I still haven't grouped since the game first came out all those years ago and have no idea how'd I'd spec to be useful to other people in pve groups at this point. But oh well, soloing is still fun!

Sadly the customization options were less than ideal for my plan, but I feel there's still enough orange on the ship to get the point across.
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

So, should i do the featured episode before finishing out Future Proof? I'm thinking "maybe", but like I just did the mission where that would have been relevant, so basically I'd be going back to book 1 after finishing book 2, then back to book 3...
Maybe.
Also the flagships are coming.
Edit: Nope, nope, it's "Yesterday's War" before Future Proof.

FYI for anyone planning on giving this arena thing a go with an engineer, apparently mines are what is causing the huge delays between rounds, so maybe avoid placing them out of combat.
So I grabbed a Morrigu, and set it up as a cannon boat... 3x DHCs in the front, 2x RomPlas turrets in the rear, and a torp on each end. (Front torp, I think, is something that does this big AE shield drain? I dunno, it was in my bank. Quantum thingie I think. Back is just Plasma cause green.)
Can I assume that the correct method of use is firing passes at single targets at speed? It seems to be so far, but it doesn't feel zippy enough to dogfight, and is definitely not bricklike enough to park and pew.
Really wish I could slot Hazard Emitters AND SciTeam. Having to use the universal seat on tac so I can get 2x Rapid Fire, 2x TacTeam, and an AP Beta/Omega. Edit: Wait no I mean Engi for more EP2W...)
Generally what I do on my escort/raider (Running the Herald on my Rom Fed because it's both cool and in-character) is single target focus with CSR going at all times with EP2W.
On my Rom guy, he's dropping GWs into Torpedo spreads to distribute the damage to all, if the shields drop on the first few seconds of hte salvo. He's got 2 DHC 2 DC to strike with and the Crystalline torp. But he's heavy plasma.
But cannons are for single target burn downs, imo.
“I used to draw, hard to admit that I used to draw...”
Yeah, I considered going Cannon Spread, but with a single Sci slot it's not like I can run Gravity Well to bunch things up nicely, and no way I'm ever getting multiple targets in-arc otherwise.
It's a nice little ship. Trait is going to be REALLY nice, I just need better doffs to support it.

New Breach is definitely shorter, still has the trench run (albeit with a single lane), but skips out the two hanger sections.130 marks with the daily and 4 people escaping. It's a decent re-tune, still have a soft spot for the old one though.
So the Morrigu has... Kind of awkward seating I think. You get Commander and Lt. Tac, a LtComm Eng, a Lt Comm Universal/Intel, and an Ensign Sci.
Tac powers? No problem, I've got 2x Rapid Fire at least, an Attack Pattern Beta, and an Attack Pattern Omega, with a pair of Tac Team 1s. A torp ability might be nice, but whatever, only 2 torps on so not too worried.
I'm going nuts, however, trying to fit 2x EPtW and EPtS along with an Engineering Team. If I use the Univ slot on an Engi boff, then Sci sucks. If I pop in a Sci boff to the Universal slot, I can't run one of Engi Team or EPtS and keep 2x EPtW.
Any ideas? I'm leaning towards dropping to 2xEPtw and an Engi Team, and then using the universal on Sci getting me both Sci Team and Hazard Emitters back, as well as... Something, I dunno. EPtS on consoles can't be set to go off on cooldown, so I'm suspecting that'll be the least loss. Maybe?
Edit: Settled on dropping EPtS, and using the universal on Sci, letting me have 1x SciTeam and 2x Hazard Emitters, plus a GW1. Dropped to a single Tac Team, dropped AP Omega, now am a pair of Betas, a pair of CRFs, and a Torp Spread, and HOLY SHIT.
Like, Grav Well + Torp Spread + Gravimetric Torpedo is "that stuff, over there? screw that stuff in particular, all of it." (And then you turn around and poop that Quantum AE shield drain thinger at them too.)

Getting back into this after a couple years long hiatus. Trying to get my Fed dude up to 60.
Is there a running joke about the Defiant or something? Seems to get blown up a lot.
I may be conflating other ships, but during my weekend STO binge it sure seemed like it got blown up more than a couple times.

Is there a serious drought of Klingon-made Sci-Vessels? I mean, I personally don't mind if the KDF outsource their SV-building to one of their allies.
Let's Play Final Fantasy 'II' (Ch10 - 5/17/10)
I believe that T6 ship would be the first T6 science ship that's not cross-faction.
edit correction, the Naj'sov is a T6 KDF science ship

Actually, that's what happened next. The genocide part. Not the learning. Goddamn Gorn never learn.
What's a good thing to use an Ultimate Tech Upgrade on?
