I do not love Sydney right now. It is 9:40 pm and 29 degrees Celcius (84.2F) and 66% relative humidity.

It was like that here two weeks ago. And then in the 48 hours since Thursday morning, we got 5 inches of rain. And the wind is currently bowing hard enough that the trees in the park over the road are making enough noise that I have had to turn the television up to double its normal volume to be able to hear it.

My friend and his partner are stopping over from Perth on their way to a holiday.
I had drinks with them, their experience of 'Sydney' is 'Fucking garbage weather' right now.

So it turns out adderal ER is a little more potent than concerta.

    At least it's cheaper.

I just did the wildest thing I've ever done. Now I'm gonna drink beers with a lady and talk about it. Love in the time of the Internet.

    Give it all to me.

I have a friend who was also from my hometown (Melbourne) who just moved to Taiwan from Sydney.
I don't think he'd appreciate me sending it.

It is unpleasantly wet and cold this week.

    He might.

So even though alana and I aren't a thing, we still talk. We hung out yesterday and did a little shopping. We were drinking coffee and talking about our days in the military and she jokingly tried to pull rank by saying, "I was a sergeant!" and I just shrugged, "ranks mean nothing where I come from"
    "What was your job again?"

    I have reactivated my okCupid.

See a dude, read his profile, it says in his summary: "this is my summary [gif link]".

    Risky click.

Its a gif of him, sat at his kitchen table on a sunny day with his dog sat on the floor beside him. He gives a sage nod and a pleased with himself smile to the camera.

    I don't even.

It's been a crazy 7 years, complete with immigration paperwork, trips back to the states, getting married, buying a house, and having our daughter. I'm so very lucky that I jumped off the cliff (after being talked into it by @Infidel) and that Ecco was waiting to catch me at the bottom.

Moral of the story is that if you don't want to take big life risks, stay away from me.

    I'm an enabler.

Kinda related, I met with the bank today with my poly house about tearing down this one and making a new poly house. It's times like that where you realize "huh, yeah, just quitting my career and jumping into starting a company is a bit of a risk ain't it." And here I am taking even more on! :rotate:

(It's gonna be net-zero passive build and have solar+batteries so we will be living off the grid, energy-wise.)

    I felt sad today

So my friends were like "let's go to Warhammer World, like the bunch of fucking nerds we are"

And thus we did. And I spent a few enjoyable hours looking at nerd shit and not thinking about my romance failures, had a couple of pints and a burger, decided on future tank purchases

I am still somewhat sad but at least my friends are great. Sadly I now have a splitting headache, no idea why, and it's keeping me from going out. Ugh ugh ugh!

I did but then after a while to recover I stood up and it was so painful I could barely see

So while I wish I could go and listen to some gothy electro music I think the lights + the noise would actually kill me :(

    Super sucks though

@Solar, maybe do the opposite of the gothy electro music nightclub scene.

Run yourself a hot bath, turn off all the lights in the bathroom and lose yourself to an inward journey in the tub.

Its what I am going to do for Valentine's Day.

Chinese food while watching Michael Bolton's Big Sexy Valentine's Day Special.

Afterward, taking a dip in a hot bath surrounded by darkness & my own thoughts.

you can pay someone to do your taxes for you, you can use turbo tax which is $60 probably, or you can try to do them yourself

My taxes are likely to be way simpler than yours but I use TurboTax's website and it does me fine.

Yeah probably want to pay someone to help you out

I assume work gave you a W2, I don't know if there are any tax forms related to having a visa but I bet you can ask the tax preparer when you call if you need to bring anything special.

H&R Block is like the McDonalds of tax preparers, they work but you might wanna ask someone at work if they have someone they recommend.

Turbo tax is pretty easy and potentially free if you don't mind mailing your stuff in instead of E-Filing

Yeah, I'd e-file but I'm worried since I owe taxes on both sides of the border with my visa that I'll mess it all up, especially since I wasn't here for more than 6 months last year, so that puts me in a....weird bracket?

I could ask my coworkers for recommendations I guess!
