Judging from the Bretibart railing against Prebius and Flynn lying to Pence I think there's a brewing civil war between the Establishment GOP branch of Trumps cabinet and the Bannon wing.
People have been saying that for over 8 months now.
The sane moderate conservatives in the GOP are going to rise up against Trump aaaaaany day now...
There's a difference between a campaign and an administration. Real power is really at stake right now.
Priebus was brought in, along with people he chose like Spicer, to bridge the gap between Trump and his people and the rest of the Republican party. And now one of the many knifefights going on in the White House is between the insurgents like Bannon and the establishment GOP with Priebus. And Trump is currently unhappy with the establishment types.
The GOP base loves him more than the Bushes or Reagan. Think about that. For starters, that means that no Congresscritter will oppose him.
Nope, that's just margin of error and effectively shows 'high confidence'. Look at him compared to Obama at the same point. Less in every category. Also remember how many fewer republicans there are now. A large number of Republican voters will identify as independant in polls like this. Sad to see him so high, but remember those people who still ID as Republican are the hardest core republicans there are. I bet if you broke it out by Rep and Lean Rep you'd see some interesting numbers.
And honestly, overall approval does matter. The angrier democrats are, the more likely they are to vote.
That's Rasmussen polling "likely voters" which these days is probably code for "won't be disenfranchised before 2018."
It's in fact quite similar to his numbers among white voters in Gallup. Which I think is 53%
Pew had him at 57% with white no college, which was his only crosstab that wasn't underwater.
Rassmussen in general has been propping up his average pretty hard. They're showing positive numbers in the double digits when everyone else is showing him significantly underwater.
Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and close adviser, met with a senior Time Warner Inc. executive in recent weeks and expressed the administration’s deep concerns about CNN’s news coverage, according to a White House official and other people familiar with the matter.
In a meeting at the White House, Mr. Kushner complained to Gary Ginsberg, executive vice president of corporate marketing and communications at CNN’s parent Time Warner, about what Mr. Kushner feels is unfair coverage slanted against the president, the people said.
While the administration is battling a large swath of the media, the fight with CNN has special intrigue because its parent company has a massive piece of business awaiting government approval: a proposed $85.4 billion sale to AT&T Inc. Messrs. Kushner and Ginsberg, who have been friends for a decade and whose discussion covered a variety of issues including Israel and the economy, didn’t discuss the merger in their recent meeting, said the people familiar with the matter.
There is an amazing amount of corruption potential there and "we didn't talk about the merger" means little when it comes to any implied message that comes with the complaints.
“If that is true, we do not want this unrelated transaction to complicate that process and will not pursue it,” he said. “The Kushners remain interested in purchasing a team and would love to buy the Marlins at another time.”

It's official, the GOP is in Trump's image rather than Reagan now. God help us all, can't believe he's making me miss Reagan's influence on that party.

We don't want to appear corrupt right now, but we're excited to appear corrupt at some point in the future
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

You won't have clean water to drink, but the JOBS though!
Kind of interesting to me that this tweet breaks from form slightly and shares a news story without commentary.
This sort of quid pro quo is why I do not hold my breath waiting for the GOP to impeach Trump for his graft, nepotism, incompetence or compromised position; he will ram through their garbage, and they will get paid. Crazy guy will rob the bank, they'll get their cut of the loot.
It's what they voted for; they want coal to make a comeback, clean drinking water be damned.
Ahh, but this is the legalized form of corruption and bribery, not sure if this still fits here, otherwise DeVos would be on topic as well. (And to be honest, most of Trumps cabinet picks)

All the more fun number since he claimed today it's at 55%

They tried to bury us. They didn't know that we were seeds. 2018 Midterms. Get your shit together.

OptimusZed's and Couscous's latest posts here are on topic, let's keep it that way. No more general approval rating discussion.
I am leaning toward locking this thread, by the way. Show me you can stay on topic.
