    Nice ND!

    Thats look really great

If I had to say one thing - I think the temple looks really pristine in both of them, if this is supposed to have that Uncharted/Tomb Raider lost temple feel, I think it could be a lot more busted up in places?

Thanks mang! :) And yes, totally agreed with you on that. I was mainly trying to focus on the larger picture of general "feel" and lighting/composition, and haven't yet decided if I should go into the dangerous noodling stage and try to add in actual details and destruction like that. :P I was initially considering that I'd just use these as a baseline to actually work up from in color, at which point I'd actually throw in all that destruction and jazz.

Especially on those steps, they feel way too even and perfect to me right now.

I feel like the bar has gone up considerably for what constitutes a doodle here, holy shit.

This should be the title of the thread, its intimidating.

WIPs are kind of like doodles right?

Its a 16x20 poster project idea I had this week, a bit of a mash-up of Adventure Time and DnD since my group is going to run Tomb of Horrors next month.

from my totally uneducated opinion ND the second one, the temple feels sort of flat at the back of it, like a cardboard cut out almost like it's not slotting into the scene correctly, maybe it's not interacting with the trees properly or the foliage in front of it is too flat but I can offer no advice to solve this.

That being said they both look incredible, when I grow up I want to be you.

EDIT: also, I actually love that it looks super pristine, like you always see these temples in ruins and it would be amazing as an explorer to come across a secret sect of people who were still operating and maintaining these old practices isolated from the outside world. I'm not sure as to your objectives with these illustrations but for me the idea of stumbling across a totally remote, detatched but still functioning society that had progressed and created these grand temples is a really cool story.

I've just been updating the post on my thread for this project with updates, as I don't want to make a new post every time. I am starting to feel better on the wacom, it's been a long time since I've done much with it but once I found a good middle brush it started to feel a lot like inking.

I tried out the iskn tonight. It works pretty good considering its magnets and wizardry. I have no idea what I'm doing or how I'm going to use it, but it has layers and video recording which is pretty nifty. The biggest problem I can see is you cant erase with the natural opposite side of the pencil, you have to switch to it and draw the erasure, which is problematic and led to most of the inconsistencies you see.

I like when cards have unifying backgrounds or structure, so something that would work for other cards.

Okay, So a while ago...like 2 years or so, wasser gave me some really good advice and said I needed to just work more on traditional mediums to gain a better sense of structure. I took it to heart and sought out a mentor of sorts who was already established in the fine art world (Christopher Owen Nelson.) I started carving plexiglass with him using angle grinders and palm routers, and then paint everything on the backside in reverse. Shit makes you really think about where color is going, and how to be very deliberate with your strokes etc. So long story short, here's a pretty badass piece we worked on for a lobby down in Houston. Not exactly a doodle, but I figure it will get the most eyes here. I may start a thread talking about my journey into the world of commercial fine art if enough are interested.
