He seems bewilderingly naive and dumb much of the time.
Also there seems to be remarkably little fighting in a show about a guy who's supposed to be a living weapon. DareDevil saw more action than this (so far, I'm on episode 4).
Obviously skipping around is not going to give me a good picture of this show overall but I have been doing just that and determined that it does not get much better, at all. The guy playing danny is very bad, the fighting looks like someone took two lessons in karate and said I'm good
Like let me put it this way: Daredevil is a way better Iron Fist show.

Okay just started and well starting off with Danny listening to So Fresh, So Clean is an excellent way to get your foot in the door for me

it's good until you realize it's setting up the scene where danny calls up big boi and three stacks to tell them what it's really like to be an outkast
Presumably they are gonna explain why Faramir faked his death. and went from running a multi billion company, to running a multi billion company from behind the scenes, with his son as a front man while living in a secret(?) penthouse. And with only a submissive manservant for company. What the hell is his deal.
Because at the moment i'm finding this a much bigger mystery than how Danny survived and became Iron Fist while living an alternate dimension martial arts city
It is slow, and it absolutely expects you to care about the cast for no reason other than them being the main cast and some of the performances are real bad. It also doesn't provide a clean hook early on like the other 3 shows. If I wasn't already super invested in Iron Fist I would not have a ton of drive to dig into this wholesale after just the first episode.
But I didn't think it was the absolute trash fire that has been hyped so far and Jones had been a pretty solid Danny so far, although he hasn't had that much to do. I am super happy

Episode one is pretty bad.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Ward's actor seems like he watched the pre-car crash portion of Doctor Strange, and decided to mimic Cumberbatch in every way possible
Also, a few extremely leaden lines of dialogue aside, I'm kind of enjoying Iron Fist. I can already tell it will not be nearly as memorable as the other Marvflix shows, but the fight choreography only really stuck out as bad to me in the very first episode. I'm about to start episode 8, and there have been some cool fights.
It probably helps that my expectations couldn't have been lower, but "not the trash fire I expected" per Blank's post is pretty accurate.
Right? It's a show Called Iron Fist about a martial arts master... If there's one thing they should have gotten right its the fights

The fighting is amateurish and the show looks cheap. Danny is deeply tedious so far. I don't know if we're supposed to immediately take against him or not, but who likes entitled, shoeless hippies that expect everyone to drop their shit and attend to their every whim?

the pace is very very slow
danny's character is still pretty annoying
but... I am obligated to consume all mcu content
Serious lack of kicking bad guys through a train.
He seems bewilderingly naive and dumb much of the time.

Like that should be a basic thing here
It's just that there's so little. For a hero who has kung fu superpowers, he doesn't really do a lot of kung fu in this show.
guhhhh why
Its so tired

I do not know where I will be at the end of this journey, but it is one I have to make.
Iron Fist in a hoodie: I'm gonna grab that guard, and give him a choice.
Talk
or Bleed
It's...pretty bad.
It may be surprising for you, but in my opinion Ward is the most interesting character in this series.
fucking hell

Oh also I like Colleen a lot!
Danny is annoying and seems to be about as bright as a goldfish
The actual fighting is sparse for a show about a martial arts master named Iron Fist
The actual fighting scenes are no where as good as Daredevil
The ninja stuff is not as good as the ninja stuff in Daredevil
The ninja stuff in Daredevil was my least favorite stuff in Daredevil
Episode 2 is one of my least favorite tv 'tropes' (ugh Im sorry)
Danny's acting isnt great which makes me wonder why they didnt get any other dude bro who isn't great at acting but IS great at choreography
Colleen is the one bright spark in the show
His story actually gets decent around episode 6

The scene with him and Danny in the car in episode one was just....painful to watch
Like Daredevil's are much better but these are perfectly acceptable TV Action series fights
Which obviously isn't ideal for Iron Fist, but still isnt, like, Jr. Karate Hour
How does it compare to the action in say... A Johnny Karate fight?
Ya'll giving boundless pessimism new meaning

should I?
I mean no.
But Netflix is very good for various other reasons
