2nd edition era models were frequently pretty crap in general, to be fair. Seems a bit harsh to single out the Necromunda gangs specifically.

I just can't decide on a paint scheme and theme for them. 80s Punk? Roller Derby? Fury Road?

... so if the rumour that the game doesn't use 40k stats at all was accurate, then 8th Edition might wind up being really fucking different.

Not sure I understand the cost values in that screenshot, though. Why does a Heavy cost 50 points less than a Hybrid despite having equal stats and more equipment options?

Note one is labled a trooper and another is specialist. If it is like necromunda that likely controls the skills they can get access too. If I recall correctly the default stats of your gang were all pretty similar but it was the skills they got where they really started to differentiate.

Where can I get a right handed powerfist like that?

I want to build a shirtless Space Marine wearing white trunks that has two power fists, then paint the fists red, and call him Brother Balboa.

That one's from the Raptors kit.
The old assault marines had one as well.

    Oooo that's cool...

Makes me want to get some of the new fantasy chaos warriors with fur capes and slap Ultramarine or Black Templar bits on them.

The torso will probably look bigger once there shoulder pads are added.

Also, that is young me's dream space marine. When I was first introduced to 40k, I wanted a Space Marine covered in spikes. I didn't know Chaos Marines existed.

As much as I love the grungy 80s Aesthetic of Necromunda, the prospect of Necromunda but with main 40k races somewhat intrigues me. I would be pretty willing to give it a go.

I am super interested in Necromunda without the stupid models.
I will fight you with my chainsaw mohawk

Come at me with your essentially 2D poses and appearances that somebody's little brother though was 'awesome to the max' in the 80's/early 90's.

They were stupid as hell and we should all be ashamed. Anyone who liked them is wrong and should feel bad.

EDIT: Actually one or 2 gangs weren't terrible and I feel bad about that acknowledgement; as I should.

    I will fight you.

Not only were the Arbites cool, but so are the Van Saars, the Escher's, the Cawdors, the Redemptionists, etc. You can't judge models made then by today's standards. Even the 40k models were 2D and in awful poses.

Yeah but the 2d space marines were great for learning how to paint, shade, blend and so on
I have my necromunda gangs still
I have learned more about painting minis from then but I still felt I did pretty good for then

Necromunda was awesome. I found some of the models a bit boring but Escher, Goliath, Redemption and Scavvies were cool. I've never understood why they stopped selling it, or for that matter Gorkamorka. I'd play the shit out of Gorkamorka if it was still a thing.

"I told you," said Ford. "Eddies in the space-time continuum."
"And this is his sofa, is it?" said Arthur.

I'm surprised they're using Blood Angels as the poster boy space marine faction.

Shouldn't they roll out the ultramarines as usual as they're the most standard chapter?

  • Options
    AsherAsher Registered User regular
Blood Angels have always been the big deal marine chapter for all things Armageddon sincentre at least the 2nd Ed starter box so it fits for that theme.

In other news I went from owning a single tank (a rhino) for my Ravens to owning 6. I now have a Vindicator, a swappable razorback/whirlwind and three more rhinos. So much for flesh over steel!

Not in the "main" line, but the Battle for Vedros and Build+Paint lines are a mix between repackaged Assault on Black Reach sprues and old Gorkamorka stuff.

I'm thinking of picking up the starter kit because it's fairly cheap, I think it would be fun to paint some Orks, and I could always use another Dreadnought. As a side note, the BfV line is the only place to get a brand new multi melta Dreadnought arm outside of Forge World.

If my gaming group ever gets a Killteam league going I've been threatening to have my Killteam be an Ork Trukk with 28 Boyz and making them use the old transport rules (the Trukk can transport as many Ork minis as you can physically fit in the truck bed). Then I get one of the oldass Trukks from the Build+Paint set and play the most delicate game of 40K Jenga ever.

One of my friends companies makes these:
    VH1ARFTRKLarge.jpg
    VH1BUGFIRELarge.jpg

And as a result we've always wanted to do a GorkaMorka Campaign just as excuse to build and pimp a bunch of trukks and buggies and cream around on the table shouting "Witness me!". And on a completely unrelated not I'm going to play some Heresy today! Gonna fight some nasty blackshields.

Yep. All mdf and card, but its Craig/Mousemuffins so this is basically business as usual. He did the Medusa V Stompa, steamcrons, sassy female spacemarine, the Leman Russ redesign prank etc. he now works for Miniature Scenery designing MDF terrain. You can check out his Ork blog Here, his terrain stuff here and his misc wierd side folleys here.

Here you go! There are three varients a rocket buggy, a Skorcha and a Gun buggy.

My Heresy game went pretty well I guess? My land raider got exploded with literally the first shot of the game, my dreadnaught was sick of carrying everyone else on his back and failed to kill anything then got exploded by the enemy Contemptor. I ended up winning because we were playing Dominion and I infiltrated onto a bunch of objectives and started racking up the points early and the game ended on turn 5 before I could table me. TACTICAL.

We had a particularly stupid combat between my Praetor and 20 man Vet squad and his Reaver Lord and a 10 man Marauder squad. My Praetor got beaten down by the Reaver but my tacticals managed to bayonet all his chumps meaning he ended up losing the combat by 1. Then the Reaver fled and was run down. Shame I had nothing to stop the dreadnaught that then munched the squad!

But why is there only one dude doing a cartwheel while shooting his gun and going like "AAAHHH!"?
I'm pretty sure cartwheels are mandatory if you're shooting guns while wearing trench coats and tight leather.

Those heresy guys mix in well with the GW models too. Great to pad out a gang.

I should take some pictures and post my necro gangs (Delaque and Goliaths) when I get back from vacation next week.

Given how many of them look like the same dude with different kit, you could also use them in a Shadowrun game (they fit the aesthetic, and think how funny it would be to keep subbing in different poses based on what's happening, or any time your character switches weapons).

Like when an NPC or another player does something crazy, without saying anything you switch to the guy in the front row lowering his shades like he's saying "bitch are you crazy?"
