Let the record show I love cyborgs

I do not like Cyborg outside of the specific context of the Teen Titans cartoon and even then only kinda

I don't mind Cyborg being in the Justice League, but they've never made a compelling case for him. They just changed his origin to tie into it and been like "oh he's here let's use him"

I kind of hate his motherbox origin story

It turns a character whose life was saved by human ingenuity and the love of a father into a character who was created, more or less, by evil aliens

Like, the father thing is still there, Dr. Stone is integral to the new origin story

But ehhhh, it doesn't resonate as well for me

I think I might not dislike Cyborg so much if he had an actual superhero name

I'm a known hater of both robots and aliens though, so I might be particularly biased in this instance

I think I might not dislike Cyborg so much if he had an actual superhero name

You know, I was about to say "Without him the film lacks diversity" but then I realized that it has Mamoa and Gaot, a Native Pacific Island and an Israeli Jewish Woman respectively.

So this cast is pretty diverse, which is one other thing the movie has going for it.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

and as I've said before, if they wanted to add diversity, there are a bunch of other more interesting characters they could have used

Even so, not having a black American in 2017 would be unacceptable. They at least have that over the Avengers (white people plus Nick Fury)

Not until the end of Age of Ultron, roughly the 49th entry in the MCU

Well, there was that time he became Cyberion, but it didn't end well for him.

Then he was Omegadrome for a while and really freaking powerful (had a gold shape-changing body), but at some point he got reset to a modified version of his classic form.

Given the Motherbox is gunna be Cyborg's movie origin, I don't think it's a bad call. It actually ties the MacGuffins in on a meaningful level. And on just a story economics level it reduces two storylines into one.

The Avengers is a movie made for babies because it had a villain who wanted to use a magic box with the power to open portals to take over the world.

Justice League is mature and for adults because its villain wants to get THREE magic boxes with the power to open portals to take over the world.

I don't think I've ever made the argument that MCU is for babies or that the DC movies are mature.

I was making fun of how the DCEU was established as being "darker and more mature" but with Justice League, they're pretty much just going to make Avengers except with the dark and gritty Snyder visuals.

Zack Snyder says Cyborg's origin is the heart of Justice League

Considering Cyborg's origin is lame as hell this is bad news

Oh so then it's 100% confirmed that they're ripping the story straight from the new 52 launch, minus Green Lantern being an idiot

Just because he's not in the movie doesn't mean he's not still an idiot.

    This is true

But him doing that specifically in that story was arguably the best part of it

It is a pretty clever strategy to hire character actors who will remind the audience of vastly superior movies.

    Hey folks

Just trying to get a quick gauge here,

How do you usually take your comics: Physical or via iPad/phone/PC?

I mostly read on my pc. If I had a nice tablet I'd use that. I prefer the colors/brightness/cleanness of digital, plus after moving so many times I just couldn't buy more physical.

Some stuff I'll buy physical copies, too, if I really love it /want to support it

I started reading comics with the New52 all digital and as I got more comfortable with the idea of comic books I got myself a pull list. I love print, but digital is awesome and great.... Only when it's not.... Comixology is great, but I would like to have better control over how I sort the digital books I purchase.

DC had a really good week

The Titans Annual was great and really emphasized how the Titans are a group of close friends while the Justice League is a collection of peers and colleagues. Plus Barry and Wally continue to have the best relationship.

And the DC/Hannah Barbara annuals came out. Booster Gold/Flintstones, Suicide Squad/Banana Splits and Space Ghost/Green Lantern were all fantastic

    Booster was probably my favorite

They haven't said whether he'll be in the CWverse or not (at least since the series moved to the CW), but that photo looks very much like the Legends promos so I wouldn't be surprised (and would be very excited!)

Edit: Especially since he's an older, retired hero. They can go with the classic "Why'd you call yourself 'Black Lightning?'" "So they knew who they were dealing with "

Is the show going to be set in the Flash universe, or the Supergirl universe, or its own universe?

been reading volume 1 of the secret six after that casualwear etrigan post a bit back sparked my interest

this is a real good time and just stuffed to the fuckin gills with characters. I used to have basically 0 awareness of DC characters beyond the league and the a-listers on batman's rogue gallery, but it's been fun now actually recognizing big swaths of the jerks who show up here after watching the CW shows, teen titans, and reading DC stuff in general
