making a vidclip into a GIF?

I'm trying to make a gif of a small scene from "The Office"

http://download.yousendit.com/F12C4D7A411AC7B0

But my GIF creator in Imageready doesn't seem to work. I assume it's a codec thingy, but this is the only version of the scene I've got. Damn XVID

Could someone figure out what's the deal, and preferably make the gif for me? It's the scene where the man is palming the dummy. It doesn't have to loop if you dont want it to, and I can resize it myself. Leave it hi-quality.

You can use VirtualDub to dump frames from a specified span to .bmps...

Download a program called The GIMP. It's a nice, free image manipulator program. There are guides on how to build GIFs from a series of images.

You can import them or open them in Imageready?

And I wasn't aware that GIMP even supported GIFs, never mind let you made animated ones.

Yeah, google says there's some “File” -> “Import” -> “Folder as Frames” option, which I assume you'd point to the folder filled with the screencaps...

...but that will only load them as layers :S

Man, I can't believe you can't just drag and drop the files onto the animation window or something obvious like that...

The full name is VirtualDubMod, you can totally use that to cut-and-paste a string of frames into Imageready. Then you edit 'em up and you're good to go.
