I don't like the bind, I just set it to the default channel and use the A icon.

I shall add that as well.

Here's how I have done my Global Chat since its inception (because I also dislike Accualt's bind)

Set Penny Arcade to default in my main Chat window.

    /bind v, chat_ cycle

This lets me cycle through the various chat groups without click on the little letters or always having to remember to type /g Hay guys! etc etc

    /bind lshift+v, chat_set a

Because the chat_cycle command makes me press 'v' eight times to get from Team back to Chat, and as far as I know /a still doesn't work. So if I was on the Team channel and want to go back to chatting on PA? just lshift+v and voila.

Is there any way to make a private base?

I'd love to have my own batcave.

I only ask because I am confused as to why there are multiple bases on the list when i goto the base portal.

some i can go to, and some like the warcraft base, that I cant.

You could quit PAs Supergroup and make your own. You would start with nothing and have to earn everything. Which would take a long time solo.

Just reading the forums and seeing this guy talk about how he had a base with his son, at the same time a base with his SG.

So what are the other bases besides "my base" on the portal selection for? why are some red that i cant get to?

sorry for nub questions, just trying to figure this out.

Coalition allows us to join multiple SGs together so we can all access each other's stuff. Generally for us PAers it's a way so we can put our characters into the Theme SGs and yet still have access to the teleporters and such that the main PA base has. Names in Red are either SGs who haven't built a base, or haven't paid their base rent.

When you use the Base TP unless you're specifically trying to get to your own SG's base, always choose Power's Allegory or Power's Affliction (redside) because those two have all the teleporters and crap that you need.

Things are out of order, of course, and I'm not sure on Hover / Stealth / Recall Friend / Air Superiority / etc as my last power, but, yeah. At least now I know I don't have to worry about running out of slots with all 8 attacks.

How's that look? A little fragile?

Anyone online right now that would want to send a trial my way? I almost bought CoH a while back but was a little short on cash, now that there's trials that would be awesome just to let me see if I'll even like it.

Just came to report that the new Defiance is pretty awesome. I feel like Sam is back a bit to his Pre-I5 glory days when Blasters were the undisputed kings of damage. And with the lack of survivability they have, they damn well should be.

Also, enforcer set is pretty sweet. Tried a fake-nemesis style thing here.

Blasters can shoot through Mez? Great for PvE not so much for PvP.

Oh and I had a WONDERFUL idea for Vigilance the other day... I wonder what it - oh yeah

Ok, so if instead of "Team health is low, defender gets an end discount!" how about we switch it to, Team Health is low, Defender gets a Power Boost. All mezzes, all buffs, all debuffs get power boosted by a percentage? Heals get bigger, debuffs get bigger, End transfers, shields, everything.

Because seriously, the only type of defender that could use the current end boost is an Emp because Low Health = Spend more End healing. And every hero already does all they can to maintain their end needs already.

    Soooo... power boost?

Actually, looking at the way defiance now really operates, I would be totally for this kind of partial mez immunitiy to go through for the whole game. It would sure beat the stupid AV triangles if I knew that my mezzes were keeping him from attacking me with at least *some* of his powers, and yet avoids letting me get a complete lockdown on things that I shouldn't.

A Power Boost effect would be better than the current Vigilance, but a recharge reduction effect would also rock. Keeping some or all of the current end reduction effect, too, otherwise the extra recharge would go to waste.

The problem is that defender sets are actually quite varied in the types of powers they have. I'm not sure a single effect of any type would make Vigilance useful to all defs because of that. But a combination of milder effects would work well IMHO.

Right now Vigilance is only even marginally useful on my D3, and then only when I'm attacking heavily and can't use the +end from the dark EPP. My rad never needs it.

I also wish Vigilance looked and sounded different from Vengeance. Right now aren't they exactly the same?

Things are out of order, of course, and I'm not sure on Hover / Stealth / Recall Friend / Air Superiority / etc as my last power, but, yeah. At least now I know I don't have to worry about running out of slots with all 8 attacks.

How's that look? A little fragile?

I usually avoid these things because I know balls all about efficient slotting, however I noticed one crucial flaw in there: You've got Quick Recovery and Stamina six-slotted. Powers have a diminishing returns of enhancements now, so you'll get a TINY increase in recovery for the fourth, fifth and sixth slot, so much so that it's basically pointless. Just stick with three slots in any power that can only take one type of enhancement or you're really just wasting space.

Yeah, even those. More than three of the same enhancement type in any power is basically useless. You get something like +33% for the first, second and third enhancement, then the fourth is dramatically less, +10% or so.
If you've got Quick Recovery and Stamina it's also very unnecessary as you'll be swimming in Endurance.

Not to mention that Health can be made to be nearly as good as Stamina for Recovery using Numina's and Miracle uniques.

I want those uniques so badly but my god they're so expensive.

The only Unique I have right now is the +Stealth from Freebird, which I have slotted in Hover.

I have a question, looking for opinions on this one:

Exact, my Archery/Devices Blaster, is pretty kickin' rad. He was a nasty fucker before the Defiance changes, and afterwards he's probably going to be even better.

I was thinking of taking the Freespec, and dropping Fly (right now, I have Hover and Fly).

I was thinking of keeping Hover, and then taking TP Friend and Teleport.

    Why?

    PvP, mostly.

The +Stealth from my Freebird unique stacks with Cloaking Device, so I've got crazy amounts of Stealth. I also have good Perception, thanks to my faithful Accuracy Drone (and the wonderful set IOs I put in it).

The idea seems appealing to me to have Hover turned on in PVP, but to actually TP around (I have a click-bind for Teleporting). Basically be like a mobile weapons platform: jump in, blast, jump out as quick as possible without being easy to follow. With all the stealth I have, it seems to me like porting around like that is an easy way to lose heat in PvP.

I just don't know how good an idea it is. On paper, it sounds awesome and looks like it'd be fun to play. What're your thoughts?

If you're slotting IO sets (which KiTA isn't at this point) the new performance shifter proc IO might make it worth putting a 4th slot in stamina. Especially for chars that use nuke powers, since +10 end isn't the same as recovery. I think it averages out to about +13% recovery for a character without bonus endurance.

people seem to be forgetting that Quick Recovery is actually better than Stamina and even in people with WP secondaries you get it at the same level you'd get Stamina (20)

I tried playing with and without fitness for a few levels in the 30s with a DB/WP. You can easily make it without fitness, but it's still a big boost to have it.

'Need' is such a loaded term (of course you don't need it, you can play without taking either QR or fitness); unless you know how he plays it's hard to make that recommendation worthwhile.

Blasters can shoot through Mez? Great for PvE not so much for PvP.

Somehow, I think that if people get defeated alot more in PvP by blasters because they can use their first two primary attacks, and their single target immob while mezzed, they might not be so good at PvP. ;-)

Blasters are meant to do damage by any means necessary. So blasting in melee range is fine. With the new defiance it's even better with powerful melee attacks. Imagine having the kind of boost Castle is talking about on top of aim and build up? That just makes me wish my Fire/Dev was actually Fire/Elec or /EM.

I have made an Ice/Elec in anticipation of Defiance hitting the live servers.

Oh hey, I missed that one. Not that there aren't some problems with Blaster secondaries (Hello Devices. Frozen Aura, etc)

But yeah, Blasters are not a ranged *only* class. They're about damage, period. If you want a ranged only hero, thats what Defenders are there for. And if your really want to avoid melee on a Blaster, its not that hard either. My AR/Ice only has three melee range powers (Ice Sword, Ice Patch and Frozen Touch). You could even go /EM and go with perma-boost range and stand back and blow shit up.

    Vigilance

I'd like to see Vigilance be on a tetor totter system. The less health your team has the bigger the END discount but the more health your team has the bigger the DMG bonus the Defender gets. So when your team is healthy it encourages you to use your secondaries and when the team is hurting it encourages you to use your primaries. The current system just discourages you from keeping the team healthy and doesn't benefit the buffer sets much at all.

I always thought it was a dumb system but I've gotten really use to never needing Stamina on my Defenders. What I would have LOVED to see, instead of an END discount, would have been a Def/Res buff to the Defender as his team gets lower on health. Never once have I seen teams die because the Defender ran out of END but I've seen teams barely holding on get wiped out a few seconds after the Defender dies. Personally I'd like to see the DMG boost when the team is full on health and the Def/Res boost when the team is low on health. I can live with taking Stamina again. The bestest ever would be a base dmg boost, and END discount when the team has lots of health and the Def/Res boost when the team is low on health. Defenders really do need a base DMG boost. We've never gotten one, that wasn't global, yet every single Hero class has gotten an individual DMG boost.

I don't think I've ever taken Vigilance into account when speccing my defenders. Especially on my Dark/Elec - I'm *always* performing at my peak abilities. If the team is dying there is absolutely nothing more I could do with the exception of porting people out of there, or rezzing with Howling Twilight.

As for a damage boost... I really only have 3 direct damage powers. I'd much rather my buffs/debuffs/etc get that boost.

Which is my current "Damn, I need Endurance Recovery" rational.

Remember to take advantage of the 15 free days deal(see the op). You can reactive with that first and add your GvE code later to get the other free month. One of these fine folks likely has a code for you. Also if you are buying GvE simply to get access to the side you didn't own you now have access to the other side anyway. See the op for details about that too. So if you don't care about the goodies in the GvE edition then you don't even have to bother buying it.

Yes, energy torrent and all EPP/Patron powers will cause a weapon redraw.

But really, it's a knockback power. You're Melee. Why would you want torrent?

Oh and as for the lack of end, have you slotted all of your attacks with one endredux? The wonderful thing about ED is that instead of the normal 1 acc 5 dam combo, you can slot 1 acc, 3 dam, 1 endredux, 1 recharge and thus skip Hasten, the Fitness pool, AND save an extra slot per power. Which is great if you want a lot of utility powers.
