1. They go into the deep woods, find out something terrible that scars the hell out of them and they come back to the surprise party either very late or not at all and everything is terrible and the story goes grim for a while. (less likely)
2. - || - || -, they get into some wacky adventure, maybe in some trouble, they come back to the surprise party exhausted and feeling bad, but the surprise party cheers Linus up and that cheers Malachi up and the evening is great. (more likely)
