The Fall Season is fast approaching (or here in some cases). Not as many new shows look as great as the fall lineup last year, but we'll see what we get.

We're also still talking a lot about shows that ended years ago.

Totally a luxury upgrade. Look at that poor bastard in the background, had to go with the baseline economy model. His nipples aren't even round.

In other TV news, series finale of The Strain is next week. Looking forward to it, still kind of amazed that the show got made at all, let alone managed to finish it's run.
But also kind of disappointed because I don't think they're going to have time to go into the origin of the vampires unless 90% of the last episode is exposition dump, and that was one of the most creative bits in the books in my opinion.

I actually don't even remember Eric Idle ever firing them. They might be entirely cosmetic. A fashion statement if you will.

To continue the Friends discussion, Joey probably couldn't get a love interest since he was the only one that agreed to do a spinoff. Though I also can't think of many long-term girlfriends that he had. I know there was the time he was interested in Rachel but I kind of stopped watching around then and don't think it was well received. I think he also briefly dated Aisha Tyler?

He was, at one point, dating an actress.

    Then Chandler kissed her.

And as a result Chandler had to spend time in a box.

I'd actually forgotten Joey dated her first and why Chandler was in the box.

I can remember a few standalone dates Joey had (ie. when he ate her desert while she was in the bathroom and wasn't even sorry) but don't really remember him having many long-term relationships like all the other characters had.

If you'd just watched ther Joey spinoff series you would have seen how that all ended up for him. I mean, if it had been in any way successful and they'd bothered to make very much of it...

    They apparently made 46 episodes.

I could have sworn it was gone after one season, but I guess not. Though I'm among the many who never actually watched it.

I also haven't watched Episodes, but saw a bunch of ads for it on Showtime while watching Twin Peaks. Apparently he's playing a fictionalized version of himself in that, like James Van Der Beek did in Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23?

    Wait, what?!? 46 episodes?

I thought it lasted half a dozen or so...

Yo, Episodes is amazing and Matt LeBlanc is really good in it.

    would watch.

edit: a WV vs AR spinoff show set in the apocalyptic ruins of earth would actually make a really good cartoon series.

    West Virginia versus Arkansas?

Man, Ghosted being on Sundays to get pre-empted by the NFL sounds like a bad idea.

The show Ghosted getting ghosted by the network sounds about perfect to me.

With multiple people describing the new rick and morty "crawling up its own ass" I officially have no idea what that means. I thought it was a synonym with pretentious but I guess not?

Maybe to fond of itself but this episode has no big ideas and isnt really taking itself seriously. Its basically four simple movie parodys.

Is it just cause its high-concept?

It's a rather insular episode, comparatively.

I think there's been a danger in this season that the creators are falling a little bit too in love with the character of Rick, ala Moffat's Doctor Who. I don't think this episode was especially pretentious, but I do think a few simple adventure stories are in order.

they spent a little bit of time in the vindicators episode having morty undercut some of rick's nihilist bullshit

We watched the first episode of "Atypical" on Netflix this weekend and I am conflicted.

I like that it's telling the story of how someone with autism has to deal with stuff and raising awareness of it and I ADORE the tom boy sister but I really hate that it focuses primarily on another straight white economically-privileged male trying to get laid and also has the repulsively stereotypical, hideously inappropriate best friend so that the main character has a reason for doing terrible things that don't get blamed on him.

FYI, the autistic community (of which I am a part) largely HATES this show. It's extremely stereotypical, a very damaging misrepresentation, problematic, and the number of people with actual connections to actual autistic people involved in making this show is basically zero.

Mickey Rowe, an actor who is on the spectrum, had a good write up of the issues involved.

wow, thanks. that makes my decision a LOT easier. that's really too bad. it does bring up the nasty other feeling I had that we're supposed to laugh AT him rather than with.
