Did this guy yesterday. First time using a dip pen so it's pretty sloppy.
I started by following prompts for Inktober but I think I'm gonna just start doing horror stuff.
I had another piece I was going to do but it needed an inkwash and I didn't get enough ink in there to make it dark enough so I had to scrap it and do this instead. It's not awful but I was super pressed for time and didn't get to do what I actually wanted to do. Trying to play more with perspective and sense of scale.
I wanted to just scan this and work digitally about 40% into this one. I'll have to try to remember to make something more out of these drawings later.
Thanks @Iruka been trying harder to get reflected light to appear correctly on these planes, pretty consistently a huge amount of it on the fuselage and I'm trying to make sure its there so the form turns right.
@DMAC who inspired your brush work? Its something i want to get better at and I was wondering if there's some old inkers I should study

I've kind of picked up a little from a lot of different comic artists and classical illustrators. For these Hellboy pieces, I was looking at how Mike Mignola handles big blocks of dark and light. I'm also a big fan of Kevin Nowlan's inking.
There's a lot of hatching and detail without ever feeling cluttered or overworked.
@jars I'm not sure how they explain that on draw a box check out these notes from peter han's book. IIRC, the class has you do just blobs -> center line -> dissections for a bit, and then has the textures as a separate exercise before combining the two.
I can see why people pick themes/prompts. I was trying to get everything but this done today, it seemed, which makes it hard to think of anything worth drawing.
tbh, its not uber important to the goal of that stuff, which is to learn to establish form in perspective and simplify into basic shapes. They feel more like penmanship exercises, I wouldn't sweat them too much. Maybe just making the gradient strips from the textures first if you really want to try it out.

A birthday card for a friend and fellow Star Wars nerd.
It's a banshee. Cause the prompt was Shriek. Which is what they do I guess.
@DMAC really enjoying the splatters on the last two! Its nice to have a little texture.
Me however, I did some usual shit:
my pen is already giving me problems, I have been using it a lot but it's only been 4 days these things have to last longer than that
Next one! Polikarpov I 16

Sorta combined the 11th and 12th post to make up for it along side number 13. So, run, shatter, and teem.
