boy did that not really do what it needed to do to sell me on Last of Us 2
I mean didn't you see how cool and grim and violent that was
Isn't that what you want, a bunch of gratuitous violence
The first game wasn't lacking for gratuitous violence, but I felt it did a good job juxtaposing that among a lot of calmer stuff. A sizzle reel of just grim violence kind of misses what made that game work.
The first game's sizzle reel was pretty infamous for ending on that shot of Joel blowing some dude's face off with a shotgun while he was screaming "noo!"

Right that one got violent
But the first half of it was mostly the exploration and some stealth, if I remember correctly

also lady with the swole arms in the new TLoU2 trailer isn't Ellie - in the the first trailer/concept art she's got tattoos on her right forearm, bufflady is not inked
I really wish that sony's gameplay for this particular year and also next year wasn't "grim nihilism"
especially when nintendo is basically weaponizing joy and comfort right now
I mean
Is it outside of TLOU 2 and David Cage's shit
Horizon was really hopeful, Spider-Man looks Spider-Man as fuck, Ghost of Tsushima looks dark but not nihilistic and Concrete Genie looks like a delight

they opened with a far cry and closed with tlou
that says a lot about their intent on tone to me
Or, it could be "Ubisoft paid us money for the opening slot and Naughty Dog games are really damn expensive so we have to do a ton of marketing for a game that isn't going to be out for 2 years"

Listen I get it but for once this isn't Ubisoft's fault.
That's just what Montana looks like. It's the world's leading supplier of natural, self-sustaining icons.

Taking his garbage and combining it with racism and child abuse gets big fucking no thanks from me
Then I saw it was TLOU and thought "oh okay"

I was also hoping to see Miles in costume, because come on we know that's what you're doing

They've said they want to make Peter an important part of the game but it is really cool to see them sticking to that
It's an integral part of any good Spider-Man story and something the games haven't really touched on much ever
the first/reveal trailer was the calmer stuff
