Oh man I hated god of cookery so much
Even worse it made me kinda dislike steven chows other movies
Kung Fu Hustle is still amazing though
Shaolin Soccer is also very good
I think the problem is I saw them in reverse order (hustle, then soccer, then cookery) which also turned out to be the order of decreasing quality
By the end of cookery I was just annoyed because it seemed like he was only capable of making one kind of film, wherein he is bad at kung fu and also an asshole, there is an ugly/"undesirable" girl, some shit happens, he is suddenly very good at kung fu and no longer a jerk, the girl is suddenly pretty/desirable, roll credits

I almost definitely would have liked them if i saw them in the order they were made but I saw them with years in between and Kung Fu Hustle is the perfection of that formula so the others left me comparatively cold
