So one idea i had for the new group team up was angus finds out the paladins that helped us were all murdered, and since he knows about the fiend's blood oath does a kind of logical thing and tries to get some of the crew back together, but instead none of them show up. maybe these people who up instead, Gawyndia for example shows up instead of Elidana (whose reply the message was "but serious, fuck that guy") and so on.

This is a good start point, Delancre is definitely on the hunt for Angus in season 2. Unlikely a magic circle would keep a creature as powerful as him at bay for long, getting the/a band back together might be wise.
On the other hand, Gawyndia seems to be the questing knight type? She might just fall into this group completely by chance.
I do like Zephy trying to mentor Angus back into the active life.
Anyway, season 2 is coming together! I've got a few solid concepts, now I just need to draw the through line!
Gawyndia's Objectives right now seem to be: Return Dead Fiance's grand father's sword to family, Find out what happened to the Knights of the Ardent Spire, If possible get Revenge on Marmadue, Duke of Gar's Field or his half sister whose name is a real dumb play on Morgan le Fay (Freda du Mundane?), Collect sweet cups, Start a new Knight Order.
Right now i am keeping with Elidana drunkenly freeing her, they spend some time together, and Gawyndia leaves on her own. the reason why she leaves is what is up in the air. Maybe it was to answer Angus' call, maybe it's because she can't ignore her duties anymore. Either way she has some new tattoos and has seen a stone building burn down.
She will not be bringing General Sparks with her. Someone else needs to bring the animal mascot.
So yeah, randomly happening on a Tortle trying to get a firbolg back into adventuring shape could very much be a thing. then she hear's his spirit weapon's voice "oh, you know Elidana too?"
I swear, I'm going to get around to posting my crap soon! Had a funeral to go to last night and it left me more worn out than I anticipated. And then my copy of Xanthar's Guide was waiting for me when I got home, and some of the new spells are making me re-think my build plan.

It's going to be real hard to not be a brat and argue a lot, but luckily when in winter Gawyndia is passive as shit, so after like bad things getting her to go along with things will be easy.
however, she's totally going to try to goku during Autumn.
Play as you like is what I say. We're trading Tusk's well of HP and damage for Gawyndia's higher AC/LoH and damage. Eledana's raw damage output for whatever flavor of wizard The Hanged Man goes for. We can definitely make whatever you want work in the party.
If Ranger was starting to be kind of boring for you, Fighter may not be the best plan. Battlemaster is the most mechanically and tactically complex subclass they've got still, but it's a huge step back from any Primary Spellcaster. I think we've got frontline heavies pretty solidly locked down.
On the other hand, if you're really feeling that Fighter would fit your mood more than Druid, go for it. Sometimes you've just got to chase the concept.

He is called Rahab. He is a Hobgoblin. He belonged to an elite order of Wizard Cops, Abjuration specialists who kept the rest of the Goblinoid mage community from getting up to trouble. As one of three published races with an Intelligence Bonus, Hobgoblins have a pretty solid academic magic tradition, but with a cultural tendency towards Lawful Evil alignment and a preference for strict Military Dictatorship, they are less willing to put up with standard Wizard Bullshit. So a guy who's quick on the draw with a Counterspell can earn a pretty comfortable living, and demand some respect from the community.
He started out Lawful Neutral-ish, dedicated to a strict literal interpretation of Wizard Law and even-handed enforcement thereof. But he gradually refined his beliefs about justice, honor, civic duty, and the interconnected nature of a healthy society until he drifted in a Lawful Good direction, questioning whether most of his people's laws were actually serving to promote stability, or if they were just about enshrining privilege. He saw too many high-ranking officers getting away with shenanigans that would have caused someone of a lesser station to be punished severely, even executed, and the inequality festered until he couldn't see a place for himself in Hobgoblin society any more. He faked his own death and deserted, then spent the next several years as a sort of freelance exorcist, banishing rogue spirits and residual magical effects that have escaped the control of the casters responsible.
He is especially interested in studying places where the borders between worlds are thin, and the various ways ancient cultures would seal these breaches. He is super interested in all Standing Stones, Faerie Rings, Graveyards, weird geologically active caverns with names like "HELL'S OUTHOUSE", and other sites of dimensional instability. He has cultivated professional relationships with Human, Elvish and Gnomish academic mages, and has an easy enough time trading lore about the less widely-studied Hobgoblin wizarding tradition for access to libraries. He likes Boats, the Sea, and Weather Magic, as a result of being raised in a family that owned and operated a small but modestly successful fleet of fishing boats. It's possible he had the innate spark to be a Storm Sorcerer, if he hadn't been snatched up as a child for the Hobgoblin Warmage Academy and had his talent refined into traditional wizardry.
He has SECRETS. I am not talking about them now, because I think the story will be more fun if it comes out organically, but I'm bringing them up because I want to assure you out of character that he is not going to be a Surprise PVP Teamkilling Jackass, when the inevitable suspicious stuff happens.

Oh, also! Rahab has a familiar who is a rare red-crested pygmy cormorant (totally made up breed, uses stats for a Raven) named Valefor. Valefor is a kleptomaniac, but Rahab believes he can be reformed and taught to use his talents for good.

also expecting anyone to keep up with a barbarian's hp is a fool's errand. Plus side we have a lot more healing in this party, and everyone within ten feet of me has resistance to spell damage, I'm sure we'll be fine.
Though i do think our DPS is going down, comparatively, we have the means to stick and fight for much longer than before.
Valefor will no doubt use Scrubbert's leafy interior as a sort of mobile storage unit for fish and pilfered coins.

it's pretty easy for a druid to roll up on a lumber camp and get some free food or something, because lumberers don't want to deal with an upset druid
win win all around, druid makes sure they don't clear cut, and gets free room and board for a couple nights
anyways, Zephy sees this OBVIOUSLY washed up adventurer (sorry, Angus) and tries to get encourage him to get back into the business
