I am not actually that hyped by that trailer tbh

Like, Josh Brolin is a great actor and the VFX on Thanos is p good but oh god who cares about his motivation or reasons for doing anything

does he have a fucking character

like basically unless Infinity War does something amazing, Thanos is just Steppenwolf from Justice League and who fucking cares

I have faith in the writers

The MCU hasn't had a movie I'd consider bad yet

Though I've not seen Iron Man 3, Civil War, GotG 2, or Thor 3

I consider Thor 2, Iron Man 2, and Age of Ultron to be mediocre films at best.

Doctor Strange was a formulaic yawn fest buoyed by good special effects

The only MCU films I consider really good, that I genuinely like without a bunch of reservations, are the Cap movies (all three), Iron Man 1 and 3, Spider-Man Homecoming, the first Avengers, and the Guardians movies.

Otherwise I gotta say "well I mostly like it but..." like for say Thor Ragnarok or Ant-Man

Cap's plan was to get his whole team to the Soviet base, and the airport fight happened because Tony's squad headed them off before they could get to their ride

Clint I think, has a line about a jet standing by, and Tony and Rhodey trash it when they show up

They probably would have gotten to it in time if they hadn't taken a big ol' detour to recruit Ant-Man

Why didn't Sam just give the ring to the eagles, and have them drop it in a volcano?

Straightzi is this really just a thinly veiled complaint about Ant-Man being in the movie

    Nah, I liked Ant-Man a bunch

It all just felt very contrived for them to have a big superhero fight in an abandoned airport to me

(also I'm still a little bit peeved that it was a Civil War movie and not the Serpent Society movie that they initially announced)

Infinity War is gonna be a Thanos movie, I am pretty sure.

Where he just goes from setpiece to setpiece wrecking shit.

Space, Wakanda, New York, uh...Dr. Strange.

They got Ant-Man because Cap wanted a bunch of people to help fight the supposed five more winter-soldier level bad guys at the Hydra base. They initially met up in Germany after getting everyone together to go in a plane. It got blown up and then they tried for the QuinJet that they knew Stark would have brought when they showed up. Up until the Giantman fight, Cap wanted to bring his whole team.

It still feels super contrived to me, and I think it would have been a far better movie if they had cut like half the characters out of it.

And a far, far better movie if it had been about Captain America fighting the Serpent Society.

I just realized something about the Infinity War trailer
They seem to be doing an all-out assualt on Wakanda. Is Vision or Dr. Strange hiding out there, or maybe the Soul Stone is is Wakanda?

I like Ultron more, I think, but what they do to quicksilver in that movie is so bad and dumb.

You're pushing the Serpent Society thing pretty hard.

    Let me ask you something.

Do you ever want to just hang out in the underbrush, sensing the movements of nearby rodents with your loreal pits?

When you find yourself in a sandy location, like let's say a desert, do you like to travel across it by turning your body sideways and moving it with a wave-like motion?

When you feel threatened, do you sometimes issue a warning by shaking the tip of your tail rapidly, making the hollow segments on the end of it vibrate against each other and produce a characteristic noise?

These are all just super-friendly questions, and you will definitely not be judged based on your answers to them!

That would probably be really, really good

Well, if his complete radio silence wasn't enough of a tip off that Alonso's departure from Marvel wasn't amiable

He's been liking tweets that are reporting on or shitting on Marvel's defense of the Cebulski situation, including ones from former Marvel writer Marjorie Liu

The reason I keep bringing up Serpent Society is because Kevin Feige announced that Captain America 3 was going to be a Serpent Society movie as a joke. Later in that same press conference he announced that it was actually going to be Civil War.

Which everyone else promptly got excited about and I got bummed out about.

Oh I agree, I'm just saying that the appearances of Marvel being kind of a trash fire right now in terms of their management keep getting more prominent

He was probably the keyest figure in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, aside from Thanos, so they probably should have set that up earlier, but they didn't, so no. They're saving him for Guardians 3 apparently.

    I'm guessing
Vision fills the role of the reletively young artifical man with a strong connection to one of the stones.

  • BlankZoeBlankZoe Registered User regular
I honestly doubt that these movies are gonna be particularly close adaptations of any one story

Like Civil War and Winter Soldier are the closest they've come to doing direct adaptations and they are both pretty wildly different outside of the core ideas of "Cap vs. Tony over registration" and "Bucky is alive, brainwashed, evil".

It's probably gonna be about as direct as "Thanos wants the Infinity Stones"
