    Sell individual joycons, Nintendo

Make joycons that are basically the pro controller cut in half

I really kinda want to get those splatoon neon pink/green joycons but I have absolutely no reason to.

    They're real good though

    Reks2Oal.jpg

    I gave my brother his own Switch the Splatoon edition as it was a bonus I would get someone to play Splatoon with {I almost bought another WIIU as we were playing it that much}
But he laments that he got what he wanted just doesn't want to mar the joycons
Also the pouch that came with it was very small and tight

Yeah that's a real good idea. Layout aside, I bet there are a lot of people who would like to have more grip for the portable mode.

That Nintendo direct is the day after my birthday.

I bet they're announcing something big just for me.

Metroid Prime 4 with breakable weapons

Metroid prime but with breakable ammunition.

Takes place way in the past

    Holy shit.

The Switch fits in my jacket pocket.

This is insanity. I can't believe it's that portable.

The switch costs so much that I could never really conceive of taking it on the go

So does my phone and it's in my pocket anyway.

    It's not much bigger than a 3dsxl
My switch has not left the yard since I got it

If I had a seat consistently on the train to work I'd probably bring it more often but as is I can't do anything that requires two hands 3 days out of 4.

As, uh, someone whose Switch has found itself falling onto a hard floor numerous times, it's sturdier than my phone, too.

(I do have a tempered glass screen protector and silicon grips on it, though, because I'm still not one to leave anything to chance!)

I spent like, two hours in the doctors office waiting for his slow butt to get around to me.

And I didn’t even care because I was playing Mario: X-COM the entire freaking time.

It is considerably bigger than the 3DS-XL, which itself was on the cusp of being reasonably portable. It's the least-portable Nintendo handheld device since the original brick Game Boy by a wide margin

The 2ds xl is less portable, imo. Way too wide to fit in a pocket, which the switch goes in to fine

I carried my brick of a game boy into combat
It fit perfectly into one of the MOLLE pouches and I tied it off with some paracord. Still it looks factory fresh

It even still has the little link door on it!

I can drop my N3DS XL into my pocket just fine. I'm sure the Switch would fit too.

A benefit to wearing slacks all the time.

I think the 2DS-XL is better than the standard 2DS. That thing is a slate. Neither's great tho

ever since my GBA was stolen out of my hands on a bus in high school I've been paranoid about using easily snatchable desirable electronics in places like buses and trains where someone can snatch it and run off at a stop.

I don’t live in a big city nor do I take public transportation (because it isn’t an option), so I am pretty much just pulling the thing out as I wait for appointments.

I will admit to having a clawlike deathgrip on my phone when I pull it out in public specifically to prevent anyone from snatching it. Even then I constantly glance up and around to be aware of my surroundings. The Switch wouldn't be much different.

actually now that I think about it given the timeframe I was in highschool it was probably a gameboy color and it had pokemon crystal in it

I keep it in a hard shell case and inside my backpack, unless I'm playing it.

Only issue I've ever had was the guy that tried to rob me of my PSP in broad daylight in the middle of a massive crowd getting off a ferry, but I'm usually pretty paranoid regardless.

it's been a long damn time since I held an original game boy but was it really that bad? I don't remember it being that bad.
like maybe you're remembering it as bigger than it is because you used to be smaller or something.

I would rank the 3DS much higher in comfort if games would all let me play with just the D-Pad

Something about the position of the circle pad destroys my left hand

The 3DS is fun when I don't have to use a stylus as a lefty, very unfun when I do.

It's really thick is the problem. That's why the thinner redesign was called the "GB Pocket" because the only pockets that could hold the original were in cargo pants

Also the corners are kind of sharp. Not super-sharp but enough where I feel it after a long play session

  • theSquidtheSquid Sydney, AustraliaRegistered User regular
Counterpoint: the game boy was big when cargo pants were in, meaning that pockets were more able to accommodate

like maybe you're remembering it as bigger than it is because you used to be smaller or something.

It was basically the size of a brick and had two buttons and a tiny screen. And it took four batteries to power, so you had to carry those around with you wherever you brought it or you were just gonna have to deal with a dead Gameboy.

I always brought my Gameboy around in my official gameboy carrying case, which could hold like, twenty games, some batteries, the Gameboy, and a couple accessories. It was pretty nice, but it was basically a bag dedicated to just the Gameboy and was practically mandatory for bringing it around. And if not that, some kind of carrying case with multiple games and batteries because many of the games on the Gameboy were meant to be played in short bursts (think Tetris, Yoshi's Cookie, Dr. Mario, Bubble Ghost, etc.) and not marathoned. Though some were!

The Switch is a lot tinier than I was expecting.

Like I didn't think it'd be huge but this thing's tiiiny for a TV console.

I actually had a battery pack for my Game Boy. It was a separate unit, nearly as big as the Game Boy itself, but I could play plugged into the wall.

I also had a giant ziploc bag full of AAs that were too low voltage to power wireless mics reliably but could still get a few days of playtime on the Game Boy out of.

The 2DS is the most comfortable system in the entire 3DS family. I don’t understand that chart at all.

I had a battery pack that fit into the battery compartment
