videos in embedded tweets not playing

Some people are getting errors when they try to play videos or such embedded in tweets embedded in posts. They play properly on twitter's website.

Example:

That is a very good twitter. Ravens are awesome.

I especially like their voices. Nevermind how good they are at mimicry.

It loads the tweet and the preview frame and the play button for the video player in the tweet, but when I click it to play it gives a "the media could not be played" error message.

This is in Firefox 57.0.2 (64-bit) in Windows 10 for me. Not everyone seems to be having the issue. I started noticing it happening a few days ago.

I'm running Firefox 52.0b12 (64-bit) and can't play them embedded. If I try it in Chrome 63, though, it works.

Both on a Windows 7 laptop, if that matters. I've got an adblocker installed on both the browsers (uBlock Origin on Firefox, Adblock Plus on Chrome).

This isn't the only site in which I've run into this. [Win 7 Laptop, running Firefox 57.0.2 (64-bit)]

Twitter Videos on USAToday's website (link here) does the same for me.

Yeah, it's acting up for me with Firefox 57.0.2 on Windows 10 as well. I spent a while fiddling with adblock settings (turning it all the way off) before I thought to check if anyone else was having the problem

My quick research points to this being a firefox issue and not something vanilla specific. I'm able to replicate the same error on other sites in firefox 57:

I assume edge/safari are running into a similar security problem

This issue seems to be fixed now in Firefox 58.0b13. It might still persist in the non-beta branch, I don't know.
