I was so happy when I could get to a consistent 50-50 shot as either side in that game.
@MrAnthropy I feel like with the way the game is asynchronously balanced - with the USSR with the early advantage and the US with the late advantage - it's uniquely stressful because it's really hard to tell how well you're doing, relative to how well you ought to be doing.
I gave up on a lot of games where I thought I had clearly lost but in retrospect maybe I was doing ok in at least some of them. This game felt like I was hanging on by my fingernails for the first 8 rounds and then like a shutout for the final 2.
I opted out of the airport scanner because I always do for numerous reasons. While waiting for one of the dudes standing around talking to come do my pat down, my stuff already went through the scanner, including laptop wallet etc. Some random dude picked my tray up and started to walk off with it and when I tried to get the TSA lady's attention she just brushed me off with "there are like a million cameras over there sir". Well then why are you making us go through a bunch of dumb scanners? I hate the TSA so much. Luckily the guy realized it wasn't his stuff and put it down but it sucks having to watch people pick through my things while I wait and am made to feel like I am being a huge inconvenience for the TSA.
Fuck that TSA lady, does she think security cameras magically stop people from walking off with other people's shit?
Hell, an airport is probably the best place to steal something. Unless you actually stole something worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, even if somebody reported a theft, who the fuck is going to track down the security footage to try and ID somebody who could be in another state or country? There's tens of thousands of people passing through busy airports every day, like you can keep an eye out for that person again.
