Spawn order? Did spawning in that game just cycle you through spawn points in a fixed order?

I always loved how Facility + Proximity mines eventually turned into " Ok nobody move or everyone dies"

I happily shot my own mines to start the chain reaction that engulfed everyone in fire and death if people tried wimping out on the cataclysm.

I was recently in a Gamestop, which is a shrine to the Funko corporation that occasionally sells games, and I saw they had an Oddjob one

and of course I immediately checked to reference

and the Oddjob one is the same height as all the others, which is now the most upset I've ever been with the Funko company

Screenlooking only really hurts players who can't come up with a more consistant strategy than 'hide somewhere and bushwhack people for rounding a corner'

Oddjob was garbage, but only because of the game's controls.

Oddjob was smaller than Bond in the movie, but still a physically imposing figure, that's why they got a weightlifter and wrestler

Oddjob's deal was that he'll kill you with his hands if you're close and he'll kill you with his hat if you're too far away

I work with a pair of brothers that are amateur wrestlers (like, WWF kind, not the Olympic kind) and they're so swole they look short when they really aren't.

There's actually another character in Goldeneye that is just as short as Oddjob with the same obnoxious hitbox. I forget his/her name though, because it's something like...scientist 2 or merchant 3 or something. One of the generic characters, basically.

The second last scientist was the short one (I think there were four so it must have been scientist 3, she was also a lady!)

That was my litmus test to find out if the other people who I was paying were scrubs or not, I would just ask the question "So it is only odd job that's banned?". That and whether or not they turned off auto sim.

I had some friends who didn't know how to strafe in the game.

And of course I didn't tell them how as I circled them and they exploded.

I played so much Goldeneye and Perfect Dark back in the day that I got used to the controller set up they had.

So when I started playing Halo and Halo 2, I always switched the control mode to "Classic" or whatever Bungie called it, wherein the left stick would be turn left and turn right and the right stick would be strafe left and strafe right.

Which leads me to where I am today, which is somehow totally useless in console shooters without that option. For whatever reason I've never been able to wrap my head around modern console shooter controls. What's even weirder, to me, is that modern controls emulate WASD+mouse, which I do perfectly fine with on an actual keyboard and mouse. On consoles, though? Well, I get really used to staring at walls.

OutTrigger on the Dreamcast had the most hilariously awful default control setup. Perplexingly terrible.

Fortunately it had a perfect dark style setup deep in the menus but boy oh boy did people bounce off the game hard due to the terrible default controls.

    Good game.

As the first person in my family to figure this out, and a little shithead, you bet your ass I milked this until my uncle cottoned on.

I didn't even really care. I wasn't in it to get him.

    So much sibling murder.

Edited in case my brother reads this thread fully. I definitely wasn't in it to kill your character as many times as humanly possible and I'm 100% sure you'd kick my ass at this game today and also I love you.

The one map I didn't understand was temple.

But I was very good at temple. Because I knew exactly one path in the temple that took me through all of the major weapon positions, body armour and fighting areas. If I got lost, due to a fight I would probably die, unless I got back into my path.

Nobody ever figured out that I was just always running around in a big circle.

A friend of mine had Goldeneye when it was brand new. I didn't have an N64 but he invited me over to play once. For the first few rounds, he was kicking my ass because he was picking Oddjob and I had no idea what was happening.

    Yeah
goldeneye probably my most played N64 game as a 10 year old, and being 10 and stupid I didn't even bother to actually try and beat the game on harder difficulties

i would spend a ridiculous amount of time on Agent just running around shooting the infinitely spawning soldiers
