I always wonder how on logos with irregular textures they decide where to put the dark and the light bits

I keep being reminded that someone decided to cast Bradley Walsh as a regular and it's making it hard to be enthused about the new series.

Heh, I just noticed that if you turn the last O on logo on its side it makes the symbol for female.

    Very clever!

I wonder if that ring that drops was his wedding ring.

Sort of! Capaldi likes to wear his wedding ring, so the Twelfth Doctor's costume includes a prop ring to disguise the real life one. It ends up looking like a double ring, but sometimes the prop one slides away and ya can see em separately

    tumblr_inline_otd3ieFNiS1tt7zpa_540.jpg

When he regenerated, only the prop half fell off.

I like to think it's him retroactively acknowledging his wedding with River, after the Eleventh Doctor was kind of a dick about it. First time we see him wearing it is the end of Deep Breath, when he says he's gonna fix his mistakes and tells Clara he's "not your boyfriend" so I dunno, felt sort of River related.

    Oh brilliant

The ring dropping felt like it was partially a callback to Power of the Daleks, when One’s ring drops off Two’s finger. (The POV stuff with Thirteen focussing on the console also felt like a callback to Power.)

That logo appears to be something I'd have seen on a 90s Vertigo comic.

I dunno, I liked the clever design of the DW being the sides of the Tardis. This new font just kinda looks like a font Marvel would use for their movie logos.

    It'll grow on me though.

IIRC they've not used that DW-as-the-TARDIS part of the logo since Series 7. Which is a shame, it was rather clever.

It's mimicking a heart monitor too. I wonder if the female symbol was a happy accident

To be fair that tweet is from 8pm yesterday and I figured it out at 1am while I was sitting up doing something else. Tweeter wins!

But they already dropped the Tardis doors 3 season ago

    It does look similar to

But all the Marvel fonts are aggressively chunky, the DW is smooth with soft edges

    OMG it’s gorgeous!

It pretty much immediately became my new wallpaper, and I'm not even much of a Doctor Who fan.

In Welsh, feminine words are given softer consonants than masculine words.

Doctor Who is filmed in Cardiff.

Two parts randomness and one part eye for composition.

The TARDIS has speakers on the outside. That was used in this clip.

If you look in the background on that First Doctor video, you will notice the set is dented.

The Greatest Show in the Galaxy is a decent episode that mostly suffers because you can see the show straining against its meager budget

I absolutely love how lame the rap is in that episode.

Also that particular episode felt very Round The Twist to me when I watched it for the first time, which I guess isn't too surprising given that they were probably filmed within a couple of years of each other.

Then it did it's job admirably. It is, and should always be, at heart a show for kids.

Just one of many reasons I had a crush on Ace back then.

Ace was always killing some clowns. It was just more literal in that serial.

I don't know about *murder* per se, but Ace was happy to get in a dust-up.

That is...a lot more and better action than I am accustomed to seeing from old Who clips. What was that from? Also that Dalek looked really good for the time. And why was she able to mess it up so badly?
