This is sort of a crosspost from the quiltbag thread but it's fashion-related.
In July I have a wedding to attend. I would like to wear a suit. I have never bought nor worn a suit before.
Basically, halp.
What kind of a suit & extras is it appropriate to wear to a wedding when you are just a guest? Like what level of fanciness? 2 piece, 3 piece, what kind of tie etc?
How much do suits even cost? Should you only buy them from specialist suit shops or are regular high street stores ok?
I will probably want to get whatever I buy tailored, is that crazy expensive?

If you have the time (around 4 weeks, I think), Suit Supply is pretty great. All custom tailored to your measurements, so you won't look like the guy wearing the off-the-rack suit that only fits in like two spots. www.suitsupply.com ($700 - $1000)
If that's a little spendy, Indochino is about half the price and pretty decent, with lots of customization options. www.indochino.com ($300 - $600)
I'd skip the waistcoat unless it's a super duper formal kind of thing, but that's kind of personal preference, really. They can still look casual enough to work pretty well if it's a relatively light colored suit, like a light grey.
You can definitely hit up a brick and mortar store for all this, but you'll probably pay a good bit more for as nice of a suit. If you're a thin build, not overly chubby or muscular, you could get by with an off-the-rack Calvin Klein dealy, because those tend to be cut for typical male model builds these days and it might work with minimal tailoring, if you're on a stricter budget.
If you only want to get one suit for all your future suit needs (weddings, funerals, job interviews), go with plain navy or charcoal--or light grey if you can pull it off well (and mostly need it for spring/summer stuff).
Ties are easy, especially if you get a basic navy or grey suit. Just break out your color wheel and go with something that's a nice complimentary color to your shirt, or just whatever you happen to like (if you go with a white or grey shirt). Relatively heavy silk ties are best for more formal outings, but I really like knit ties for anything less formal, and more party-like.

Last wedding I went to I wore a three piece blue number that I got in NEXT of all places and was very happy with it. Bonus points for it also being pretty cheap (but not looking cheap) as well. (I think it was about £120 for Jacket, Waistcoat and Trousers) Might be more or less expensive now though, what with the yo-yo pound. A pretty safe option is a light grey cloth, but you might want to go with something a bit more fun, for example, mine was Navy blue on the brighter side, which matched a tie I already had, so that & a simple white shirt and I was good to go. I think I posted a picture of it here but it was a couple of years back.
I would definitely see if you can try on a bunch of jackets at least, to get a feel for what you want in terms of fit/buttons etc Or more accurately what you find most comfortable to wear as there's no fun in it if you end up feeling like you're just a hanger
I'm fortunate in that I don't really need tailoring (bar the occasional bit of trouser turnup, but I can do those myself) so I can't really help you on that side of things.
I'd check with the wedding party if they have any colours or themes that have been claimed by the bridesmaids/groomsmen/main event as that can be the case, saves you finding a really nice tie or what-not that you can't wear.

Yeah, that's the big thing. Tailoring is pretty much 100% necessary for a suit for most guys. And a cheap suit with perfect tailoring is going to look way better on you than a $2000 suit that hasn't been tailored.

Finding a bra as a larger proportioned trans woman sucks. Mostly because I feel like I'm going in blind? I've read things and measured things but woof you get there and look at all the stuff and holy shit what even is this
It took me ages to find two that will suffice for now. If I can grow these things a bit I'll be able to fit into more stuff
I got new socks and they are very comfortable and soft compared to my old ones.
I also got some new shoes since my old ones were literally falling apart. they are a very similar trainer but black and also much cheaper than my walking shoes which I save for working out in still.
Still wish I could find decent shoes that are actually my size at a store that don't cost a fortune. these ones are 12 4e and they are too long in the toe and still a tad narrow.

Figleaves goes up to a 52 band and stocks a wider range of cups than Brastop, including A-D cups.
There's a lot of info re. breast shape and whatnot out there, but most of the time just knowing your underbust and around-bust measurements will get you pretty far! Most of the rest is trial and error and finding the right brand for you!
- the center gore isn’t against her sternum. It’s a good inch away.
- she is spilling out of the cups at the side
- she’s slender and no way she is a 34 band
There’s a couple of professional bra fitters in the comments who agree and they place her at about a 30F (visually) which looks about the right size to me, too.

I want to get a watch, because I used to love wearing them, but I have rather skinny wrists and I was a bit self-conscious about that
But there are some awesome looking wood and stone watches at Holzkern that are making me thing hmmmm....
I have thought about the two below, thoughts from the thread?
First one's awesome. I just got a wooden watch recently and I'm real happy with it, but if I'd known there was a company using stone for the faces I probably would've gone with them.
Top-left: My regular ol’ glasses. Probably the nicest pair I have owned. They’re brown with turquoise insides and they cost eleventy million dollars.
Top-right: Red pair. Not totally dissimilar from my regular pair except wider and the frames on these were $10 (the lenses did cost more, though). I like them but they’re mostly a cheaper, redder ordinary pair.
Bottom-left: Hello yes you may now call me Mrs Cool because I am Super Cool in these, my first pair of prescription sunglasses I will now wear everywhere.
Bottom-right: These are the bigger black nerdy glasses of my dreams but they hurt my eyes I don’t know if it could possibly be the pupillary distance is wrong? It seems fine on the other two pairs, could this pair have been screwed up? I am very sad. I love these frames but they might have to be Emergency only.
Now my eyes hurt anyway because the Zenni pairs have a slightly different, updated prescription (they are -3.25 and my regular glasses are -3.00) and I can’t tell what’s going on, help.

The last ones are awesome, that's too bad. But yeah, it's almost definitely the pupilary distance being off on that pair. If they're not new enough that you could have them re-done by the place you bought them, you could always take them to Wal-Mart. They'll do new lenses on the cheap (I think I paid $50 the last time I did it? And like $75 for rx sunglass lenses) in your own frames. As much as I dislike Wal-Mart, I don't know of any places that'll re-lens glasses cheaper (or faster) than that.

I looked at Zenni’s return policy and they will accept them back and refund you if it turns out to be a manufacturing error. I do think they’re different enough from the other two pairs to not be my mistake (I did measure my PD on my own), but right now I think I just need to rest my eyes and decide tomorrow!

Yeah, if Zenni will still redo them, you might as well. I've never gotten a bad pair from them, but a co-worker has, and he sent them back after a couple of days. It took like 3 weeks, but he got a new pair back and said they were perfect.

I have set aside budget money after next month payday for that watch. Going for number 1. Just think if I get the others, I'll always think "I should have gone for sexy contestant number 1"

I wore the red pair for over an hour tonight with no issues, and once I tried to switch to the black pair I had instant pain again. So I’ve concluded it must be a manufacturing mistake and I’ll send them back! It certainly would be a shame not to wear them often!

All those specs look great on you, the sunnies make you look a little bit like Selena Gomez, I think. It's a real shame the top left pair are so expensive though, because they suit you so perfectly you could get like three more pairs in different colours to match different colour outfits.

Yes; once I qualify for a pair through insurance again I’ll definitely get another pair like those! My current insurance helps covers frames once every two years. I got those Dec 2016, so am not eligible yet.
Even with insurance they were around $180 with lenses.
Every time I see a Third Love bra advert, the bra the model is wearing does not look like it fits. At all. It is, in fact, the sole reason I’ve never looked at their stuff.

Like, fashion is absolutely my no. 1 reason for trying to lose weight. There are so many items of clothing I simply couldn’t wear but desperately want to.
Decided to treat myself to a bit of accessorizing through an internet friend of mine who trades in vintage watches. This one is a 1975 piece which caught my eye, and thank goodness, it matches my color palette perfectly
here's one he got in better lighting and a non-phone camera to show off the cool little crosshair detailing
It's so much lighter and more comfy on my wrist than my G-Shock 5600 (which is already the lightest and comfiest of the main mens' line of G-Shocks). Just worn enough around the edges I can afford to wear it around without being terrified, too
for just under $400 (which is a lot for me right now but then I have wanted a proper mechanical piece for ages and this was my first and last act of retail therapy for the next while)
since there's a bit of wear and tear on the exterior (he had the interior looked over at least!) and the first owner's name is engraved on the back. Movement's not terribly rare and the Felicia brand was never top shelf, so it's a piece I noticed more for the funky ruggedness than any measure of class
It's not as nicely finished or with as quality of a movement as the Felicia, but it'll scratch that itch pretty well for a classy retro dive watch with an automatic movement.

I have owned a Vostok in the past and they're definitely a good trainer for seeing if the daily routine of setting and wearing a mechanical watch is your deal. I will warn you that while they are not overly wide at 37-40 mm depending on model (I have a modestly sized wrist and don't go for dials over 40mm) those watches are thick and the domed plastic scratches easily
Seiko's 5 series are also great as a baby's first mechanical and a bit less janky in build quality, but lack the flair of being a dive watch. For divers in particular the two current production bang-for-buck mechanical watches of choice beyond Vostok are the Orient Mako II and Seiko SKX 007. Less funk, but both are fashion-neutral and have known build quality on their sides

It's not as nicely finished or with as quality of a movement as the Felicia, but it'll scratch that itch pretty well for a classy retro dive watch with an automatic movement.
Seiko's 5 series are also great as a baby's first mechanical and a bit less janky in build quality, but lack the flair of being a dive watch.
