Looking over the map and abilities that I can on a phone screen, Im gonna agree that sending the Princess West is the best course of action.
There is no getting around the Black Drake and if we pussy foot around it, he will mess us up. The best we can hope for there is to try and get the Drake off of a mountain tile and onto grass or a road, and that should get us lined up for our Dragonborn to engage it too, if we can.
Let me relisten to the rules to see what I gotta do and what to do about my card.
This is a pretty shitty start for me... My ability is completely useless against all of the closest guys and I don't have enough supplies to make it to a hex that produces more than 1
Reminder that there is no limit to the amount of supplies you can hold (just soldiers, up to your green strength value), so you could stock up a ton before venturing out. You're not limited to the starting 10.
My starting set doesn't have a supply bonus
Oh right, filthy Hermit. Reaching Donia's starting space only costs you 8 supply. Also others can send you supplies from 1 area (area = 7 space hexagon tile) away.
11 supply and in any case we can't share spaces right? I move before donia
What I'm actually going to do is send all my soldiers away and then move. If I get into combat I'm doing it wrong anyway I think
3 to move into the forest, 3 to move into the desert, 2 to move into her starting space. It's 2 per space since you have 2 soldiers and the desert and forest are +1 each.
Oh I thought I had to pay to move the character too. Okay

Tiles with a defense value (blue shield) also benefit you if you're the defender.
I'l clarify the Black Knight text since the translation is kind of messed up. They mean "ally" instead of "company".

I think our best bet is for you & CJ to get the drake this turn, or maybe Austin but I think it's more efficient if you do it. In the mountains and with support you can get 9 dice which should more or less kill it

The dragon is aggressive. Don't attack him, park next to him on a mountain and let him attack you...
So with her 1 free move, the Princess is going to move to the mountains on either side. Can't stop her with Ben being parked in that grassland. 1 move to road, and if I block road in front of her, she's 3 resources to grass that is SW of my castle, then 5 resources to move onto mountain.
If I move to mountain that is directly SE of Drake, Princess will 1 free move to road, 2 resource move to road, 5 resource move to mountain directly S of dragon and stop there.
So, I think I pretty much have to move to mountain in order to attack drake at this point. Ben, I think you're going to have to go after soldiers because Princess will have taken that spot.
Also, I think (someone clarify this) that since the Princess and I will be same distance away from Drake, we get to choose which one it attacks (obviously me).
Only way to adjust Princess movement West is if you move two spaces this turn to the road. If you and I don't block the road and grassland to it's east, the Princess will move east around us. Only way to get her moving West is if the road straight ahead of her is blocked along with grassland to it's east, so she has to move 1 space to road, then goes West to grassland.
Even then, she'll move through 3 grasslands and end up getting attack by soldiers by ending on the spot you were previously taking.
Clarification on Princess movement: it's...odd determining how they define "shortest route" and when that's calculated, but here's the ruling I'm going with:
The "shortest route" is calculated at the beginning of the princess step and she will follow that for that turn. This is to prevent "loops" where she might be blocked, move one space away, move back, get blocked again, etc.
We can push her west if someone sits on the south dragon hex or if 2 people block the road/field
I can do this, but only if I take 3 moves, and give up recruiting (as I won't make it if I have more than 3 soldiers). I'll be at a bit of a disadvantage then against Drake, and also only have 3 resources left (from a collect). Obviously, need to do it if it keeps the Princess alive, but just a FYI that I'll be in a bad spot.
Does everyone agree that Ben on the Road space in front of the princess and me to the grasslands right next to that to the east is the best spacing for Princess to move West?
If not, then we just proceed as is showing currently, I'll sit on the S mountain hex and take the attack and we'll have to adjust from there.
We can also set it up so the princess can't afford to move into the mountains too, and then only have to block the grass hex next to austin
I strongly suspect this will devolve into the pandemic/coop game problem but my opinion:
1) ben moves to S mountain hex
2) cj send 2 soldiers to ben (and some supplies) and moves SW of ben
3) I send 2 soldiers to austin
4) austin moves SW and sends 2 soldiers to the princess and 3 to cj
This gets us a fight @ 9 dice vs the dragon, @ 4 dice w/reroll vs 4 enemies and the princess will be forced west as she won't actually have enough resources to move into the mountains w/ 5 troops
Or ben can move north like he first did and cj can move into ben's start and send him some troops. We should be able to completely wipe out the 4 troops and then move into the mountains to beat the dragon next turn. We force the princess west in the same way by feeding her troops
oh... I suppose I should look at my support card as well.
I'm sure this is making MrBody's job harder but I'll lock in my move for the first turn now and everyone has to work around that.
what colors do you want us using @MrBody ?
Godfreid's 1st turn move. locked in place now and forever
1. Move Northeast spend 3 resources
2. Move North into the mountains, spend 5 resources
3. Use support card. Volunteers, get 1 soldier
There I have 2 resources left, 4 soldiers. now I get a soldier with supplies from someone and I face tank a dragon just like in my WoW days.
Action 2: Gain 3 resources
Action 3: Send a support card to Gato. @cj iwakura
+1

So to be sure I'm getting this correctly... the best bet is to move NE(X2) support Ben with troops(free), then maybe recruit with the last action? I'm still a little fuzzy on the rules.
You can only recruit if you're standing on a castle or town (has the gray circle icon). So, if you're going to recruit, you need to do that first before you move.
Then, like Preda suggests, send troops second, and move third.

Okay, so
Action 1: Recruit
Free Action : Send troops to Ben
Action 3/4: Move NE twice

I won't be able to move into mountains this turn, so if we want to face Drake in mountains, then yes, Ben probably needs to be the one to do it.
Edit: Also, I keep forgetting I'm last, so Fate card will hit Ben more likely anyways, so yeah, probably better Ben fights Drake

1. Recruit soldiers.
2. Gather resources.
3. Move one space northEAST, pay resources.
The Drake should move towards me and then next turn I can move to either mountain space and smite him.
edit**This move is null and void. sorry MrBody.

I can move wherever we need me to be to get the princess going west, but ill need troops and resupply to take on the dragon
