Whenever I need to actually email someone, it's usually done through my work email. My personal email account is just a repository of "order placed on Amazon" and "purchase confirmation on PSN" messages.

The strip may be a joke, but there are real life people who act like this. It might be unreasonable, but I occasionally have had to deal with people giving me a funny look for using a Hotmail address. The question is why change it? It works fine and there is a large barrier of having to update everybody and every service on my new address. The only email addresses I don't like are the ISP provided ones, and that's because I'm afraid it might change if the other person changes internet providers.
(And yes, I know not all of you with yahoo email addresses are tech illiterate. Much like there are plenty of 70 year-old parents out there who don't need any tech support at all from their kids and can totally swap out that faulty RAM all by themselves.)
I've had a few accounts over the years, mainly because I sometimes forget my password and lock myself out of the account... That hasn't happened in a while though! My very first email account was with Yahoo too, I was a young teen and it contained the word "demonfire"
When my mom took me to open my first bank account, they needed my email address. To the guy's credit, he remained straight-faced as I spelled it out for him. My mom facepalmed, though. "THAT'S your email address?"
There's a good reason why people still use Yahoo and Hotmail accounts (and Juno). It's because changing accounts is a colossal time sink and can have far-reaching effects.
I know the joke is that he is being unreasonable but at the same time, he is technically not being unreasonable(although the comic harps more on it being old/outdated). Any sane person would stop using yahoo mail. I had a Yahoo email account in the past that is now no longer used as the reset email for any services I use. Last time I checked, that old yahoo account has had its credentials compromised due 5+ times in the last 10 years that I have been alerted to. I don't get up on my soapbox to proselytize about it when I hear someone uses Yahoo but I can understand why someone would harp using it.
No kidding. I'm SO relieved I registered a website in 2000 and started using it for my email back then. I mean, it's not the GREATEST domain, and I often have to spell it. But it's nine characters and doesn't have any non a-z characters. It's also made things easier because I can just make up burner addresses on the fly because I run the whole domain.
Oh. I thought it was similar to the "is that a person in a Blockbuster?" strip from a few years back.
I constantly run into situations where I need to figure out my Hotmail password because no matter how many accounts I switch over, something important is always still tied to it years after I switched to gmail.
Hell, this thread made me think to check, my account here is still tied to it.
I know for a fact that there are people who use AOL addresses.
And yeah, I still use my old Yahoo one I had in highschool, I got it when I used geocities to try to make a sprite comic.
Now, gmail, THAT is what I use for dummy addresses.

Mine is 21 this year.
Then my phone/DSL service provider changed for my area, so I had a new e-mail and had to tell everyone.
Then I changed from DSL to Cable, so I had a new e-mail and had to tell everyone.
Then the Cable company rebranded and changed all their naming stuff, so I had a new e-mail and had to tell everyone.
That happened in a 2 month period. Four e-mail addresses in two months, and two non-tech roommates who needed help sorting out shit every time?

So I picked a company I figured would likely make it a decade, and set up an account there as primary...
Therefore I use Yahoo Mail.
And I will until it dies a horrible death (maybe soonish), at which point either my gmail or hotmail account with the same prefix will get more usage than simply a place for e-mails I never read.
Yahoo has a feature that shows you where you're logged in so you know if your account is compromised. I check it every so often and change passwords when necessary.
There are still a few blockbusters I believe. They are just privately owned.
