Just finished 3-7's battles. At some point I should just sit down and hammer this game out and be done with it. Pretty sure I'm not gonna go through with the challenge levels though, or the DLC for that matter.
Not with so many unfinished games and Mario right around the corner.

Extra plain challenge levels doesn't massively appeal. It was great ride, but I'm pretty sure I'd seen all they could do with the setup by the end of 100%ing the file.
Extra story might tempt me, but I'd be checking reviews first.

I've been letting my game languish too. I think it's the difficulty, but for whatever reason, now that I'm in world 3 I rarely think about playing the game, despite still finding it quite enjoyable if I do manage to start it up.
For similar reasons I probably won't get very far in Disgaea.
Trying to finish this up before Mario hits tonight. Not gonna happen, but I'm close. I just passed 4-5 and lost my Perfect streak on the second half of 4-5.
Seriously, how did nobody suggest that players have the option of choosing specific battles within the world? I'm not going back to get that Perfect in 4-5 because I'd have to clear the map before it, which I already Perfected. Really poor design choice in an otherwise fantastic game.

....But... you can choose specific battle strings using the washing machine once a world is cleared, right?

You can choose specific battles, but you have to complete them all instead of an individual battle.
You can see that he's got the first fight done perfectly, but not the second. He still had to complete the first battle to get to the second. That's completely unnecessary. What makes it doubly frustrating is that it works the other way around (non-perfect on the first battle and perfect on the second) just fine.
And why aren't you told what you even need for a perfect? Why do I have to rewalk the entire stage to get to the Challenges? It's all a big waste of time and only there to pad out the playtime. It's little things like that which drive me bonkers. Time is so limited these days, so why not streamline game experiences to accommodate everyone?
Eh, probably just me being cranky though.

You can use the washing machine to retry challenges, you just have to have found and attempted them first. What I eventually started doing was finding the challenges, then starting and immediately exiting them so I could do them at my own leisure later.
"The sausage of Green Earth explodes with flavor like the cannon of culinary delight."
For normal missions Perfect is always complete it within X turns (and I believe you can't let anyone die), and for Challenges just complete it within X turns (characters can be sacrificed, and sometimes its completely necessary)
You can't go straight to a specific level because part of the challenge is to do that level with whatever damage you picked up in the previous one.
Right but you can always switch out characters or pick up mushrooms to restore your health. I don’t see that as a plausible enough reason to make me jump through all these hoops.
But like I said before, my gaming time is limited these days and I don’t feel like I need to 100% everything. It’s why am not going to go through the challenges either since I don’t want to have to re-walk all of the maps just to unlock them.

I was OK with re-walking the maps for worlds 1 and 2, because they're just straight lines. Now I'm re-walking world 3 and I am hating every second of it. The maps is a tangle of paths that loop back on themselves, and while the story mode guides you through the maps, the re-visit does not, so I've walked all over the whole world at least three times now and still haven't picked up all the chests. And the camera is zoomed in so low that it's hard to use landmarks or whatever for navigation. It's a bit tedious.
You can't go straight to a specific level because part of the challenge is to do that level with whatever damage you picked up in the previous one.
Right but you can always switch out characters or pick up mushrooms to restore your health. I don’t see that as a plausible enough reason to make me jump through all these hoops.
Which means you can't use those characters, or you're using them at a disadvantage. And mushrooms can't heal everything. Plus, Mario has to be used anyway, so it's still affecting how you play.
Being able to redo the battles with upgraded gear means they didn't really care about challenging the players to the same degree as the initial battles. Sure, you could handicap yourself by using level equivalent weapons/upgrades but it just makes the whole thing inconsistent.
Whatever though, it's Ubisoft's game and their decisions are their own. I really like the game and will finish the main story, but not feeling the drive to go through the whole game again for challenges. Especially with Mario right in front of me.
Maybe if I was kid MNC Dover with a limited game pool this would be a different story. But old MNC Dover has too many things vying for his time these days to slog through game padding.

The game surprisingly lived up to the hype. Mario, Luigi, and Rabbid Luigi was my go-to comp for mass destruction. I got Perfects on every level except one in world 4. Don't remember which, but I know it's in the second half of a world so screw going through that again.
Didn't complete any of the Challenges except a few on World 1. I'm not big into backtracking and scouring so they'll remain hidden away until I find some free time or am bored (yeah right). Far too many games out there to play to jump through all the extra hoops.
Gameplay was quite fun and fantastic. Minor gripes aside, I really enjoyed it.
Great job Ubisoft!

I enjoyed this game. The combat and presentation were the best parts for me.
I ran a purely offensive team with Rabbid Mario and Luigi. I usually killed half the enemy team on the 1st or second turn. Luigi was good for escort missions with his ability raise movement range, and his double team jump was kind of busted in the "go here" missions.
The Main Focus of this patch is to introduce Gameplay Tips in the game, to help players who struggle on some Battles and teach some mechanics that might be missed by some players.
• Loading Tips:
While players are getting ready for their next Battle during a Loading Screen, they will now be able to scroll between different Tips providing advice and details about the game based on its current progression.
• Rework the Preparation Phase:
Players will now have direct access to Battle HQ during the preparation phase. Of course, players can still jump directly to the heat of the Battle. But why not take some time upgrading their heroes to try out some of the Tips read during the Loading?
• Game Over Tips:
Every time a Battle is lost, the game will now provide Pro Tips to help Players succeed on the next try. Tips are tailored for battles to offer the most relevant advice when needed.
• Battles Balancing:
Two battles are now easier as they represented a difficulty spike in the overall difficulty curve:
World 2-2 Battle 1: UNDERGARMENT GULCH
World 2-4 Battle 1: SQUARE ONE
• Various Bug Fixes

Saw that Best Buy has the collectible Rabbid Mario and Rabbid Yoshi 6” figures for $19 each tonight, really quite tempted to get those, even though they’re so useless.
Might get the Rabbid Peach and Rabbid Luigi ones from the Ubi Shop as well.
I've mostly wrapped this up, found all the weapon chests, missed a few of the museum ones but eh.
Attempting the ultimate challenges now, managed to finish the second one first try despite so far failing the others repeatedly and by pretty large margins. Might have to mix up the party members a bit.

Finished core game. Beat ultimate 1 and 3. Ultimate 4 looks like it will suck. Got 100% chests and map. Finished all challenges inside worlds. Have to do Bowser Jr fight again, was a few turns too slow and few turns too slow on final fight as well.
All in all it's a pretty darn fun game. Finished like 97% of the game with original 3 though, might be tempted at a later time to try mixing it up. Doing the post game stuff with rabbid luigi and rabbid mario.
I am at the part in World 2 where they introduce those sheild guys.
I hate them so much.
1) They're susceptible to overwatch-type abilities (like Mario's Hero Sight) and AoE damage (grenaducks/rockets/remotes)
2) They don't do a ton of damage at range, but they do debuff. Cleansing team jump is helpful.
3) They can be tricked pretty easily into shooting each other sometimes.
(my kids hate those too)
For business reasons, I must preserve the outward sign of sanity.

I think I'm like 4 missions from being done the story, I kind of put it down and forgot to go back to it. I do have holidays coming up in July so I'll probably just grab the DLC and then wait until then and plow through it.

Only Ultimate Challenge 4 left for me. I can get so close to the end, but then something always happens. Shame it takes 40mins or so every attempt, or I'd try more often.
Yeah, I think I'm happy leaving the ultimate challenges for now - if I finish the DLC and want more I'll go back to them then.
Played a bit of the co-op with a friend last weekend, he'd never seen the game before but my wife isn't interested in this game so threw him into the deep end. I think I'll just do the rest myself using two controllers.

I'm working backwards on some of the World 4 challenges, took a break earlier for some Octo Expansion goodness while pondering how I'll tackle challenge 4 (8 Smashers, four on each side + four Ziggies in the middle, 4 turn limit).
I'm considering experimenting with Yoshi who I haven't touched.
I rather like Rabbid Mario, I think Super Chance + Magnet Dance with either his weapon that can inflict Stone might let me safely and predictably handle one side by the end of the second turn at the latest. A rocket would deal with at least one group of the Ziggies, depending on how far I can get Mario and Yoshi a Ground Pound or a hammer would deal with the second group.
I'll just have to see how bad the Boos mess with my theorycrafting.
I put the game down months ago after beating the first world and have spent the past week finishing the rest. Gonna complete the normal challenges before attempting the ultimate ones.

In the end I went to healer #1, Rabbid Luigi. His Vamp Dash ability is possibly the most OP thing in the game.
