I thought that at first as well but it is surprisingly approachable, which I think is a testament to Locus' and/or Austin's organization and writing.
Agreed! I was initially worried about it but after reviewing the OP rather than just skimming it, i am pleased and surprised with how concise clear understandable it actually is.
There's no minimum or maximum number of players I was aiming for, although fewer players does mean a shorter game. I'll keep sign-ups open for another 24 hours or so in case there are any stragglers who want to play.
Also, in case anyone is feeling overwhelmed because of the lengthy OP.
I know the rules can seem overwhelming, but I promise they are not as complicated as they appear. The usual phalla rules apply (with the exception that "dead" players may still participate, to an extent). The remainder of the rules explain the civil and criminal actions mechanics.
The cliffs notes version of the civil and criminal actions mechanics:
1. Every day, a player can bring a civil action against another player.
2. A civil action can either force a player to do something, prohibit a player from doing something, remove a condition placed on a player, or provide information regarding a "dead" player.
3. Each day, two District Attorneys, who are elected by the players, can each select a player to "kill."
4. A panel of three Judges, who are also elected by the players, decide whether to grant a civil action and whether to "kill" the players selected by the District Attorneys.
5. A player may also use a special ability, if their role has one. A player cannot, however, bring an action and use a special ability on the same day.

Has anyone sent out the typical @ signal to everyone yet?

I'm going on vacation next Thursday.
Living that long in a phalla is admittedly optimistic, but my plate is pretty full from other commitments til then as well.
Side note, any thing-to-do suggestions in Dallas or possibly OKC or Austin, which are maybes, would be welcome. I have family in the former but more ideas wouldn't hurt.
I don't mind holding things off for a little bit longer.
There will be a Day Zero for elections of the first Judges and District Attorneys. Unless anyone really wants to get started earlier, I can send out role PMs on Friday, have Saturday and Sunday be Day Zero, and then Day One ends at 9 PM on Monday.
Day Zero begins now, and ends at 9 PM EDT on Sunday!
It's Election Day! There three open positions for Judge, and two open positions for District Attorney. All citizens are eligible to run for any of the open positions. Because it's a special Election Day, there will be no vote for disbarment today.
You may vote for up to three candidates for Judge by posting your choices in bold purple.
You may vote for up to two candidates for District Attorney by posting your choices in bold cyan.

I mean in fairness I spend a lot of time in the 18th century, but still. Usually not entire days and nights, usually just work day shifts..
