My friend was underwhelmed by the D. Elves but I love them. I'm glad they didn't go over the top with them. I want to use the Chaos cheerleaders as players.
League rematch against the Goblins. It was one of those games. Especially the first half. Not a single pow or successful dodge until turn 9. Meanwhile he broke through my armour every time except once.
Second half was slightly better on my side even though his armour braking streak continued.
For the cherry on top of course he got a quick snap on turn 16 exactly like the last time and managed to make every roll without RR for the otd.
1:2. 1 dead, 2 mng. Next game against the reigning league champion and his undead.
So I actually won 2:0 against the Undead. It helped that Tacklis, my star blitzer, took out a mummy with his first blitz in the game. He did the same in our game last season but I went and lost that one 0:3.
Tacklis then went on to score the 1:0 in turn 5.
First half then ended with a double skull, reroll, double skull for the ghoul with the ball, and thus his last chance to equalise in half one.
Second half I got a Blitz in kickoff but still needed to turn 6 to score.
I got a bit lucky when it came to injury rolls and only suffered one badly hurt.
On the other hand, I wasn't able to make a single pass. Again.
But I get to paint things and make things pretty if I play table top right?
Honestly, it all depends on how far you wanna go. If youveant to give it a shot, buy the base game. Snap them mans together rrad the rules and find someone to play against.

My local tabletop league was very easy to get into. There was no real requirement for miniatures besides 'easy to tell apart' so I started out playing undead and ork teams with generic fantasy minis before buying any of the official team boxes
Most leagues are willing to loan teams to interested players as well
The Nomads' star blitzer Tacklis Dancekiller leading the offence
Against Orcs. Their ranks were a bit depleted after their last game so he got 490k in inducements (Horatio the wizard, an extra special play card, 2 BW kegs, apo, merc blitzer). We also got sweltering heat and played with special play cards. The latter meant that one of my blitzers was immune to armour modifiers of all kinds and that my guard lineelf wasn't allowed to assist blocks and fouls.
He recieved the ball, which scattered right behind his front line and we got high kick and so he started with the ball carrier in a readymade cage. He killed my AG5 lineelf in the second turn, but under pressure he had to score a bit too early in turn 5, letting me equalize in turn 7.
Start of the second half looked good for me, but then one blitzer got struck by a fireball and the two linelfs guarding the thrower in the backfield got blown up by a mine. Accordingly the game moved into my side and after my blitzer got blackmailed into blocking my ballcarrier the orcs ended up with a blitzer and the ball one field away from the end zone. Aformentioned blitzer then went on to erase his treasonous shame, dodged through three tackle zones and took out the ballcarrying orc blitzer (the only time in the whole game I managed to break armour, with a MNG-casualty as the result no less). He then took the ball and ran it into the opposing end zone in turn 16. So he basically was the Toni Kroos of this game.
End result 2:1 for the Nomads with 1:1 casualties.
observations: miscellaneous mayhem special play cards seem much stronger than the other decks.

Yeah, your league commissioner might want to look into the alternative SPC generation rules in the Almanac. Like the one that places different prices on different decks.
Dark Elf preorder on July, 7th, release a week later, including dice, cards, special ball rules, pitch.
draconic egg ball, bounces every turn and on a touchdown you roll for armour if you rolled a one.
cold one hide ball, roll a dice evey turn, on a 1 the ball gets dropped. That one is really annoying for slow bashy teams.
So my buddies bachelor party BB Tournament is at the end of this month. We're doing a budget of 1.1 and 150,000 for skills. I'm playing my Orc team since there is likely to be new people playing and it didn't feel fair to bring my Dwarfs.
I've got my players bought. 2 throwers, 4 black orcs, 4 blitzers, and 2 linemen. Picking up 3 Rerolls leaves me with 40,000 left in the Treasury. What should I spend it on? Fan Factor? A mix of FF, Coaches, and Cheerleaders? A goblin?

Drop a Thrower and use the leftover money to buy a Troll!
Are there any restrictions on the skill selection? Because a Troll that starts with Guard and possibly Block can just stand there and support the rest of the team as a roadblock if you don't want to activate him.
Only restrictions is 150,000 for skills and max 2 skills on a player.
I don't actually own a troll, so I'd have to proxy if I went that way. The rest of the team is fully painted so I doubt I'll end up adding a Troll.
On one hand a goblin could be helpful to give the ball to and score with some dodging. On the other hand he's a prime target for everyone as the only thing with less then Armour 9+

Then I'd probably just go with 2FF, a Coach, and a Cheerleader. You've got 12 players, a Goblin isn't going to add anything without a Troll to sometimes throw it unless you want a dedicated fouler, and for a bachelor's party that's probably not great.
Roster resets between rounds so no need for an Apoth. I think spreading it out around the extras is the way to go. It might come n hand on some kickoff events.
I still have a human team from the boxed set lying around. With the world cup going on the question is now Belgian home kit or Croatian away kit for the paint scheme?
So last weekend was finally by buddy's bachelor party. The original plan was to have a tournament, sadly the other groomsmen didn't learn the game over the past 10 months.
I still surprised the groom with two custom neoprene pitches for the tournament with a name based upon one of his old nicknames. Him and I had a game with his Dark Elves and my Orks. His dice betrayed him fiercely. After that we ran another game with the three others who were interested in learning now that it was right in front of them. That went great and we'll at least have some other players if we try a tournament again.
This month's league game, againsst TV 1760k Chaos. 11 players with Block, 5 Mighty Blows, 6 players with St4 or higer plus all the Horns. Also two players more than on my team. At least there is only 1 tackler.
I have to manage a draw at least to keep even a remote chance to keep up with the top.
On the other hand, if I spend 10k from my treasury I can afford a wizard...
We recently set up a small league on Xbox. 4 players with 4 AI to pad it out. I decided to play something against my normal playstyle and went High Elf. My first game was against the AI Amazon team. I lost a Catcher on the third turn. Later that half I fumbled what would have been a touchdown pass. Game ended at 0-0.
I kicked in the first half and recieved an extra reroll from the kick off table (which I sorely needed as turned out later), he scored turn 6. I recieve, he rolls a Blitz!. I still manage to score the equalizer. So far so good except that a Catcher died in the first half despite contact minimisation and the use of an apothecary. All the other rerolls at best turn a two dicer from double skulls to pushes or don't the the dice result at all...But anyway I'm still in a pretty good position for the rest of the game.
I recieve again at the start of the second half, he rolls a Perfect Defense. And from there on nothing works at all, like several snake eyes and doube skulls in a row while he just makes one go for it after the other, no skulls to see anywhere.
I loose 1-2 with 0-2 casualties.
Sidenotes:
Horatio the Wizard is a trap. He might be cheap and usable twice per game, but he's just too unreliable. But I thought I'd like a bloodweiser keg, too. A normal Wizard for 20k more than those two might have saved me the game though.
I hate people that treat their dice cup as a hammer and the table as an anvil.

Had a good time with Chaos at a local tournament. I thought I was in the lead for most causalities inflicted but a Khorne team took it. I got something else pretty cool though
Last game of the season today, then only one more playoff-game.
Elves versus Norse. I had that matchup a few months ago at a tournament and it was a massacre. I hope the higher TV we have in the league (about 1.550k) is going to help me a bit. Still, that's a lot of block and frenzy and a ST5 Berserker, also two players more one the bench. Will see if I can get to go on offense and thin out his lines a bit at the start.
Last opportunity to even have slight chance to reach the play-off for 1st place.
Edit: whoops, we played to slow so we had to abort after turn 12 at 1:2. I did kill a ulfwener with a Catcher, though.
Alright, after SEVEN YEARS since my group's last tournament, we're firing it up again. I of course will be bringing my Goblins out again. One of every secret weapon, 2 trolls, 1 pogostick, 3 rerolls, 3 bribes (I think every non-player expenditure that isn't a reroll or apothecary or bribe for secret weapons to be a waste; better to just keep team value down and see if that lets you get a bloodweiser or wizard or even a halfling chef for the game).
I play Goblins more for the fun factor than sheer efficiency. But they actually do good. I won the last tournament! Those thick, slow dwarf cages go down awfully quick to a mad bomber or berserk chain spinner. The dodge bonuses are great. Goblins are cheap enough that you can always spare a "stupidity escort" for the trolls. The pogostick makes an excellent runner to always give the ball to.
The only team I suffer against is Skaven. I disintegrate against them. There's nothing you can do against those gutter runners. Their insane speed, dodging, and agility is normally countered by anything strength 3 or up getting 2 dice against them...so strength 2 goblins are boned. No strength advantage over a gutter runner? Yeah you're boned . My only loss last tournament was against the Skaven team, and I only won the tournament because someone else knocked the Skaven out before the next bracket.
A goblin team is about to win our league this season. The coach has been insanely lucky with otd's, just throwing goblins over the field like it ain't no thing.

How hard/expensive is it to get into tabletop?
I should stick with xbox should't I?

I mean, TTM touchdowns are still nailbiting, stomach-churning hail mary gambles, but the Doom Diver is great at them (until he is eaten).
