My favorite grandmother is here and she's already said like 8 racist things

This is very confusing as for like all of my life she was the hip, not-racist grandmother but for some reason like two years ago she just did this crazy left turn and now she's starting conversations about how "it was so nice and weird in Boston, we were in this area and it was mostly black folks and middle easterns and we thought we'd need to go back to our Airbnb early but, even in the evening it was very nice, all the houses were very well kept and everyone was so welcoming! You wouldn't get that at home!" While I sit slack jawed

haha i read this and i was like, this is literally the most mild old person racism ever, i wish all old people in the world were exactly that racist

Well yes but it's still not good

oh yeah my bad i ain't mean to minimize. just happy imagining progress from rocking-chair-virulent-racism to this

if even that bit of poopery draws a critical look then i think that is a good thing

A study about exactly that said $88,000/yr. But with the caveat that it's based on cost of living, of course.

The conclusion was that more money makes people more happy, right up until all bills are paid on time, and a little can be put into savings every paycheque. After that, it doesn't matter how much more people make, they aren't any happier.

EDIT: Which says to me it's less about making more, and more about being free of financial stress and anxiety.

why is it so upsetting to me that Valve is actually, like, getting rid of some porny games.

I certainly agree that several games don't belong on steam. I don't know if they got hit with it, though? But, i guess, I'm scared of VNs having to migrate away from Steam? Like, I feel that some non-violent stories about human relationship are a good thing. IDK, i'm starting to warm up to those and they're possibly going away. :(

If you're making over 75k a year, then you're getting the most happiness out of money.

    https://content.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,2019628,00.html
People say money doesn't buy happiness. Except, according to a new study from Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School, it sort of does — up to about $75,000 a year. The lower a person's annual income falls below that benchmark, the unhappier he or she feels. But no matter how much more than $75,000 people make, they don't report any greater degree of happiness.

I make about half this, so I'm presumably 50% miserable.

Its basically "this is why we can't have nice things" if they let some porny games show up, then you get the darker shittier ones also showing up and its hard to say "well these ones are different porny games". Plus valve has terrible quality control with steam games, and know they do, so again as a stop valve so rape simulator 2018 doesn't show up, "Tender loving fucking" must also be banned.

I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
