Not just because, you know, a person is dead age 28
But also because he had so much potential. He could have been one of the all time EDM greats, really. I always wanted to go to one of his sets, and now I never can
The Arctic Monkeys have decided not to release advanced singles from their upcoming and recently announced album, and they're just going to release the whole thing 16 days from now (May 11th).

any soccer mommy fans in here? been obsessed with this album lately, every song on it is just fantastic
I've been eagerly awaiting this album since the band announced it two months ago. It's finally here and it's even better than I hoped.
The Armed is a hardcore/punk band. Very loud, nearly incomprehensible vocals, that sort of thing. Recommended if you like Converge/Dillinger Escape Plan/Frontierer/etc. On their first album they had quite a bit of jazzy weirdness among the more straightforwardly abrasive stuff. They toned that back in later albums with the weird just occasionally coming up for air. The weirdness is back and this new album has them making heavy use of synths/keyboards in a way that reminds me of The Locust or Genghis Tron.
And a couple youtubes. This one is most likely the most accessible and conventionally beautiful song they've ever made. Kinda Deftones-y. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdT1CxS7DEE
Other favorite tracks (I mean, besides all of them): Nowhere To Be Found, Fortune's Daughter, Ultraglass, On Jupiter
Edit:
So the album download comes with a pdf of a strange, fake magazine called No Solutions (the "Only Love" issue). There's an ad in it for an album/single for Dan Greene + The Greenies (Dan Greene is supposedly one of the band members, they're cagey about who is actually in the band, kind of as a bit I'm assuming), with a bit.ly link. And if you type out the link, it goes to this unlisted video. I dig it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCO1Nw98aWI
Also on the page that has the index and magazine staff info, near the bottom there's a bit about "No Solutions may be purchased directly at [bit.ly link]". And if you type that one out, it goes to this strangely unsettling ASMR parody video featuring Cara Drolshagen who is the bassist, supposedly (again, cagey).
I wish there was more metal with clean vocals, or that it we're easier to find. I love metal's instrumentation but the indecipherable growling and/or screaming is a big turn-off for me.

Swing by the [Hesher] thread, there's a few of us over there who might be able to help you out.
A few new and upcoming releases that might be your jam.

I think the real issue I always had with screamy vocals is a lot of metal bands think that if they get a guy who screams real loud they don't have to bother writing any music that sounds different or good.
People who are into the "Heaviest "most "Hardcore ""Extreme "shit are also the most boring and annoying people to have to deal with or listen to their opinions on the music.
my god the Struts put on a show. There were only 150 people in that bizarre club(?) in Lynchburg, VA., but they still played for over an hour and a half and gave it 150%
only person I've ever seen with stage presence like that was Mick Jagger
That is a hell of a video. Dude has talent to spare.

I've been jamming on the new Speedy Ortiz album lately. It's a bit less noise drowned than their previous releases (a little bit more like the stuff that Sadie Dupuis released as Sad13), and has some good jams about how shitty modern society is.
Nine Inch Nails announced a tour and new EP this morning, the tour is with The Jesus and Mary Chain. They're only selling physical tickets at box offices, all tickets go on sale 5/19, except Red Rocks Ampetheater which goes on sale 5/20.
They've got 4 shows scheduled for Los Angeles but I'd have to make the trek up to Hollywood to get the tickets. I guess going on a Saturday morning won't be so bad.

Not that liking their music indicates the degree that this sucks, but I really like their music and this really suck. Hopefully he turns back up and seeks help, but as someone who can really sympathize and relate to songs like "Swim Until You Can't See Land", I pray for the best and expect the worst. Depression fucking sucks.
Edit: This is actually hitting me really fucking hard right now. Dude was one year younger than me and I've also gone missing before. I wish he could have made the journey back that I did, but jesus, it can't be stated enough, if you need help, reach out. It is never as dire as you think, even if you aren't capable of that thought in the moment.

So this is out now. Its very very one note, but its a pretty interesting note at least. If it ended right after 4/5 I'd love it but it drags on way too long.

Yeah, I ended up finding it kind of boring overall although there's some interesting stuff on there. I think the lyrics are pretty good. It feels like a sketch of a better, more impressive album.

i've been a fan of frightened rabbit for like ten years so this is a real gutpunch
Yesterday was world goth day, so obviously I had to listen to gothy music. What music do electroheads listen to when in a gothy mood you ask? Well there are many answers! I mostly listened to Witch House myself (which isn't actually a sub-genre of house, it's a sub-genre of electronica really). I really like this particular record because it shamelessly takes so many elements from other genres and mixes them together to make something very cool and sexy. There's a core of Witch House, and it has symbols in the name which is like half the genre aesthetic, but there's absolutely a Trap hi-hat, retro darkwave synths... Anyway, it's good stuff!

Only Love is the new album and you can download it on Bandcamp where it's pay what you want/free. There's also a streaming soundcloud playlist at the bottom of this BrooklynVegan article.

New Ghost. Kinda theatrical classic hooky, metal

From the latest Primordial. Doom metal (sort of), they cross a lot boundaries with this one.

The Night Flight Orchestra. A few members of Soilwork and Arch Enemy decided to get together and do an 80's prog-metal/dad rock band.

And would these vocals be too harsh? New Necrophobic. Classic black metal.
