I didn't notice that the sun was setting and that the light was subtly going in away in the past few comics. I'm giving up on the cat, it's impossible to find in the dark.

The kitty is also amazed at the light.

    Oh, no.

    OH, NO.

I'm having a terrible premonition. It involves a quantity of oil-filled lanterns, a wooden structure containing a lot of paper, and Malachi.

For the sake of the library, I can only hope that I am wrong.

What if Linus is afraid of the dark?

Just look at all the expressions. So priceless. Nice work, Mrs. Rice.
(That sounds wrong. Can I just call you Katie? Thanks.)

Why do I have the feeling that the library will promptly burn down?

If "indoor light" is that rare, he should probably turn it off to save the juice, but knowing then campers they'll probably just let it burn out while they bask in it's glory.

Poor librarian guy. Now everybody has his lamp.

  • SargeSarge Registered User regular
    The library is doomed.

  • MartynMartyn Registered User regular
Um...all he did to light the lamp was turn a switch. It would have to be battery powered. Also, if he routinely carried matches he could use to light an oil lamp, the idea of "indoor light" wouldn't be all that unknown in the camp.

But the lamp has vents on the top, like an oil burner. So, who knows?

Seems odd not one of the drop packages would have contained something that generated light.

Hey, I had a stupid idea for the site. A 'Linus's Lantern' mode of reading, where maybe you click some crap and your cursor turns into the lantern. You move it around the comic and if it gets near enough to the cat, the cat's eyes light up. JUST-A LIKE A REAL CAT without the hairballs. Help out those of y'all who can't cut it when it comes to comic cats.

Before anyone says anything, "Linus's" is correct. The lone apostrophe rule is for plurals ending in s, not all words ending in s. He is just Linus, he is not a collection of more than one Linu.

Don't be so quick to make assumptions. There's a lot about "Linus" that we don't know yet.

Would plural of Linus be Linuii or Linuses?
    Or Linuseese?

I was internally debating this earlier, because I wasn't sure if the surprise was over a lantern or a battery powered lantern.

    Edit:
Actually, it just struck me that there is no light at all until Tanner turns the nob.
That doesn't necessarily rule out oil, but battery makes so much more sense.
And I'm realizing what I mistook as a wick is actually a bulb.

Hey guys, I updated the comic! Hopefully it's more clear now that it is a standard oil lamp.

It was pretty clear before, obviously since so many went to "those poor books," but I appreciate the clarification! (Especially since you went through the trouble of adding a flame.)

  • zdaneezdanee Registered User regular
Katie added a flame. This pretty much means things will burn...

Please, Katie and Adam, think of all those poor kids who haven't had an opportunity to read about Rick Springfield! Would you really deny them the chance to read about one of, nay, the greatest musician/actor/author of all time?

    Edit:
Now, I'm picturing Linus growing up in a house of musicians when all he wants is quiet to read his books. And one of them is obsessed with Rick Springfield. Now Linus silently resents that they keep getting copies of Late, Late at Night.

Current chance of the library being burned down: 90% (I just want to point out I put it at 30% after "Market Research". I totally called it!)

Eurgh. I love these kids a lot, but as a person who would much rather sit and read than do much else, I can't stand a lot of this :'3
