    Not knowing the Mary character that well, when she lights someone up, are we talking a surface immolation (the fire starts immediately outside the target, with no obvous ignition source and the target's clothing serving as the starter fuel), a core lighting (the target's vital organs catch on fire, regardless of available space or lack of oxygen in free gas form, not unlike spontaneous human combustion) or fire projection (she creates fire, then launches it at the target)?

    In any scenario but the core burn, death is not certain. In event of surface burn, the fire can be put out. If water is unavailable, the good old fashioned "stop, drop, and roll" technique can do the job. But of course, that does not work if line of sight cannot be broken (she'd just light you up again). Which brings us to the next question;

    Has the reactivity of Joker Gas ever been specified? By which I mean, if exposed to flame, does it detonate, or snuff out the flame? If the latter, than the gas grenades have two additional uses that have not been covered, aside from the documented "breath it and die" usage.

    1) Fire suppressant: Mary sees Joker, Joker gets lit, Joker pops off a grenade, smothering the fire and breaking line of sight, preventing a encore performance.

    2) Cover: Following example one, if there is a good distance between Mary and Joker, the Joker can throw grenades ahead of him as he advances, effectively providing moving cover until he can get close enough to hit Mary herself; She needs clear line of sight, he just needs to get one close.
