This is the one and only time I'm glad I was forced to change my name.
that feel at the loading screen when your team gets 3 tanks/2 healers vs 5 dps and your heart sinks a little but you win anyway because holy shit 3 tanks/2 healers vs a team of no heals/no tanks
People stomp on non-meta team compositions a lot but really, all things equal, I think a non-meta team can win.
Double or triple tank, as long as drafting doesn't go 100% against them, on the right map, can dominate well.
Same with double or even triple support.
I mean, these are somewhat meme-ish teams but they're not as meme-y as an all-in Chogall / TLV comp.
ed: Dibby's screen shot also shows a game that was actually super even and tense!
20 mins and both teams down to one keep, winning core at 84% meaning they were under heavy attack at a point, etc. etc.
the stats from back in the day were that tank vs no tank was actually better for the no tank team by a very small amount, and support vs no support was something like 55-45 for the support team.
turns out that either a ton of hp and initiate can counter a lack of damage if played proper, or an absolute asston of dps can counter all the healing in the world if played well. qm is weird.
though i won't miss it when they eventually enforce warrior/support in every game.
One of my fav games of all time was 4 warriors + support vs a standard comp.
We just bodied the living hell out of them.
Non-stop CC, non-stop body blocking. Beefy-as-hell warriors.
Nothing they could do.
Only thing the enemy team could've done was to split push and win the macro game, avoiding a fight.
Alas, they tried to win the normal way and failed miserably.
As soon as they force warrior/support in QM, I might not have much reason to play unranked draft anymore.
Most of the time my teammates approach it like they're playing QM anyway. "I want to play X hero, despite the comp, map, etc." But for some reason they won't go do it in QM and allow people who actually want to draft to have a chance at a fair game. Drives me nuts!
Both of those are non-meta teams. When that happens (ie - every game in QM right now) it's basically a matter of who the matchmaker fucked more.
In that case one team is squishy as fuck and the other team is tanky, has tons of heals and isn't suffering enough in the damage department to counteract that.
Something odd I just noticed on Kendric's stream, at the end of the game, in the summary screen, talents tab, the numbers above the tiers didn't align with the actual level tiers.
Instead of 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 20, it had:
1, 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 18
Can someone check if they see the same?
Note he's playing in EU prob.
Is Debilitating Flames enough of a power spike for W build Diablo that it's worth taking over Domination in spite of the potential additional Q+W you get with the latter?

I don't think so and it certainly is the talent I think I've seen the most diversity in which pro's pick. It's possible but I think it requires so much additional control over hitting w after every stun/flip to get value.
Q-E-Q just locks up 1 target for long enough that your team should confirm the kill. It also provides a way to charge in and get back so your not isolated yourself.
It's better I suppose if you commit to playing more of a zoning tank instead of isolation/dive

I wish you were able to track the damage mitigated/negated by these talents as it's really tough to evaluate them otherwise. I've been going the W talent out of habit but might start switching it up esp. on certain maps.
Agreed but that would be a bunch of analytics we'll never get.
I think if your taking it, it's the slow you should be intending to get value of and the damage mitigation is just bonus if you get it. So if other team has a bunch of mobility tools, maybe not helpful, if they all have to walk up to you/away it could be useful.
But domination just lets you punish the one person out of position that much more which is what I'm looking to do usually as the tank
Alright I need to work on my Jaina game tonight/this weekend a bit.
I honestly haven't looked at her since her slight talent adjustments but it looks like that AA build thing never took off. So ... what am I looking at as far as talents go? What are the best ways to stack up her quest for the iceblock? Also, I won't be taking ring of frost ever at the start so let's ignore that and assume I'm going Water Elemental.

Globes->Q->Q->Wele/RoF->Icy Veins/Barrier->E Vuln/Root->Blink/Wintermute if Wele
Use your Q to poke, and only cast W/E on heroes when you've got good set up for it (i.e. Johanna casting Condemn (W) on a target, Malf root, etc.) and you should be golden. On most maps she is a key part of the four-man rotation alongside the tank due to her ability to quickly clear waves with her Blizzard (W).
As far as stacking her quest, it comes down to early-game skirmishes/tfs and how effective you are at chaining your abilities (specifically your Q) such that the trait (Frostbite?) doesn't expire on your target. In some cases if the other team denies you early-game skirmishes it can really hurt you later on.
Getting used to casting RoF is important, but Wele is incredibly good now especially with Wintermute. I usually prefer RoF due to the burst meta being the thing though.

I almost always take Fingers of Frost on one. I just always seem to get the most value out of it.
4 I take Frost Shards if I'm usually safe behind a good back line. I will take Frost Armor if there is something like a Tracer though.
7 Ice Lance. Just too good for sustained damage.
10. You already said
13. I like Ice Barrier almost always. But I'm low tier and need that extra defense. But Icy Veins is the damage talent for this one.
16. Numbing Blast cause the root is just too good.
20. Wintermute cause it makes your water bud do good work.

The problem with that whole statement is that picking Chromie doesn't make you a coward. It makes you scum and everything that is wrong with humanity, but not a coward.

It's from the perspective of "only a coward would pick a hero that fights people from off screen."

Not as off screen as I wish. I still miss her extra range trait. So sad.

Well, that was a nice surprise. Ended up going 1-5 in my placements yesterday, and today... completely turned it around and went 5-1. (3 due to the aformentioned Jimmy, and some Yrel and Morales on the side.)
Ended up placing in Silver 3, but high, and the win streak ended up pushing me through a promotion to Silver 2.
