Xbox controller+PC?

Can I use a wireless xbox controller through the Play and Charge kit as a controller for my computer? I installed some accessories thing for xbox peripherals, but it doesn't show up on the ring it has. It also doesn't show up under the controllers list in the Control Panel.

If it is possible, what am I doing wrong?

    I know Microsoft released the wireless pickup for the PC. I'm not sure what you're using, but that's the only way so far that I've heard you can use the cordless controllers on a PC.
