    James Gunn comic in disguise.

    Disney totally sucks baboon ass for firing him over something on Twitter from like 11 years ago. That information was publicly available back then, and it's their fault for not properly vetting him in the first place. If they don't like that stuff, they should have not hired him back then. Waiting until they're two movies deep, and have a massive fanbase, and all of that hinges his creative vision, and then firing him because they are dumb is just wrong. Plus, James Gunn is/was a shock humorist. People make vulgar and distasteful jokes all the time for the shock value. That doesn't mean he believes it or lives it out.

    I'm not sure. I read it as a take on the GuildWars 2 shenanigans a few weeks ago when Jessica Price verbally abused some poor guy on twitter during July 4th, got canned because of it, and then was up in arms about it because it was off-hours. Seems a 1:1 comparison to this comic.

    I don't know, I feel pretty confident they are just commenting on how there is no correlation between being a good streamer and being a good human being. At its core, right now, most esports players and successful stream hosts are young competitive men. They are barely constrained savages still a lot of the time. Jerry has said in the past that he was either feral or savage at that age, I can't remember which word he used. As someone who was once a young man, even if much more timid then most, I agree with the sentiment.

    I thought that Jerry's newspost made it pretty clear this is still about his D&D competitive league and how athletes (e or otherwise) end up doing terrible things and then people debate about whether that should affect their ability to play the game.
    I feel confident that the dSports league I inevitably found will suffer the same grim setbacks shared by every other attempt to yoke incredibly competitive young men toward some decorous, public expression. Don’t these violent sociopaths know I’m trying to establish dominion?!?

    It'd be two levels, one would be around the players, the other would be about the characters.
    So during the transfer window there'd be bids for who would get to play Jim Darkmagic, but you'd also get stuff about what Mike said on Twitter.

    Regarding the newspost, I can't tell if he's talking about a deck buildinggame (like Dominion, which I love) or a deckbuilding game (like Magic, which I tend to not love). Or....a game like Magic but which encourages you to mainly use prebuilt decks? Which I... actually think I like. I get analysis paralysis trying to build a deck from scratch, and the best players tend to either build the same few decks independently, or netlist. For some reason I like the restricted deckbuilding of a Dominion style game, but the pre game building of a CCG just doesn't appeal to me.

    Yeah this felt like the kind of justification people make for NFL players who are rapists or abuse spouses. Trying to say this was about Gunn or that ridiculous ex GW2 dev is a bit of a stretch. I mean he kicked a baby...

    If you tend to enjoy playing Magic but dislike building decks, I suggest drafting. The most basic way I can describe it is you sit down with some people (ideally 8 people total, but 6 or 10 work fine), each with three packs, and in a roundabout way you each use the cards in the packs to build a deck, 1 card at a time. If you've played games like 7 Wonders, it's basically like that. Then y'all have a mini tournament (swiss parings, rather than elimination), and everyone gets to keep the cards they drafted. I do it almost every week, it's super fun. You can use the WOTC site to find a local game store, many of which have weekly drafts.

    Keyforge comes with prebuilt decks, and you can't modify them because that's the whole point. Each deck is self-contained and has the name of the deck printed on the back and front.

    The exception to the "unique" rule is that the $40 starter set comes with four decks: two unique ones and two decks that are the same in every starter set. But those two decks are supposed to be for new players somehow (I don't 100% get that reasoning) and new $10 decks will always be unique.

    I will also note that unique is really referring to the totality of cards included in the deck. I'm betting two different decks will often have cards that do the exact same thing, just with a different deck name printed on it.

    And yes, the decks are allegedly balanced by a computer algorithm, such that there aren't "good" decks and "bad" decks.

    I like how you're ignoring that she was a complete ass to a fan who just wanted to have a (completely respectful) conversation with a developer from one of his favorite games.     Last I checked expressing a different artistic opinion and explaining why you hold that opinion isn't telling someone how to do their job... its simply having a different artistic opinion. Especially since telling one how to do their job requires telling someone to actually do something, not simply disagreeing with a viewpoint of something mostly subjective being "impossible".

    So competitive PVE is basically what the WoW Mythic Plus Invitational is. And in video games, there's a lot of min/maxing that goes on, and everyone who plays at the top level in WoW at doing competitive PVE are all basically using the same classes/specs/strategies (with a few exceptions of course).

    Translating that to the idea of competitive Pen and Paper, would you expect to see the same thing? Or is there a lot more flexibility since RP is generally a big factor in tabletop.


    Like, appealing to the DM is a thing in Pen and Paper. "I want to do this" "Ok, that is sufficiently badass, I will allow it."

    It's called XCrawl.

    But don't get your hopes up, it's from the dark depths of d20. Prestige classes relying on ranks in "profession(athlete)" and rules for super combos which mean that wizards have the easiest time doing them, since they can use spells, which can be quickened and don't even have to risk failing.
