Finished building the KT terrain, and dang that's a lot of plastic.
Yeah, it really is. But what you can do with it is also totally awesome:
That’s the “Walls” on top of the “Cloister” with some of the ruin sections on top.
What you can’t see is the open door beside the arch because the wall chunk was pre-cut and why not?
I hope new Space Wolves stuff starts after I start getting pay checks at my new job. I don't want to stare longingly at them without being able to grab a thing here or there.
my brother waits and complains about the wait since he is very curious on the state of them and how the primaris work within them
just looked at the aussie price for Titanicus.... $500AUD! hahahahahahahahaha no thanks
even the cheaper version is pushing $300, Killteam box is $220AUD for reference
I’m curious to see how Titanicus does. It seems that they’re aiming it at a more niche (rich and hobby focussed?) market compared to the value/compatibility of shadespire/AoS stuff and KT/40k/Necromunda which all kinda go together and can maybe serve as hooks into the main game. I wonder if they realised the scale difference would be a killer for a lot of their market and went a more “exclusive” route?
I’m also wondering if the recent 40k Knights codex will ultimately help or hurt the game? Like, you can already have a bunch of knights running around as a full army in 40k, which takes a bit of the wind out of AT’s sails imo.
Also very curious to see if the super late releases of Orks and Wolves is just down to scheduling or if they’re both huge releases that they want to really focus on.
Orks have a large amount of stuff that needs updating/expanding, and I guess Wolves are one of the most non-codex chapters so giving them their own unique primarus wouldnt be surprising.

Quick question about obscured models in KT. The rulebook is very straight forward and pretty clear. The issue that came up is a wall with a window between my model and my opponents model. They were each about 3 or 4 inches away from the window itself. If one of them shoots at the other through the window would that be considered obscured?

Is any part* of the model physically, literally obscured by the window frame? Then yes, it counts as obscured. That’s all pure line of sight. Distance to the obscuring object only matters for the injury roll modifier.

Cool, that is what I thought. Thank you for clearing that up for me.
The T'au Stealth Battlesuits are pretty awesome. Did an Assassinate match against my brother and used my Scout specialist Stealth Battlesuit. Ran up the field real quick and started launching shots with my Fusion Blaster at his Plague Marine Champion.
Never really got a markerlight to hit, a lot of obscuring terrain meant I was hitting at 5+ with my Leader and Breacher Shas'la and the Marker Drone I brought was hitting on 6.
The Recon Drone was pretty cool to use though.
My Breacher Shas'la that had the markerlight was also my Comms specialist but I think I should really make something else a Comms specialist.

Titanicus is "only" $290 in the US, but you can get a box with two actual Knights and a hunk of terrain for a hundred bucks cheaper.
If you spend $290 on Blood Bowl instead you would have the starter set, seven teams, and enough money left over to order a pizza.
If you spent $290 on Shadespire you would have every single faction released... and still have fifty dollars in your pocket.
It's 4/5 of the way toward the body of an actual Warhound Titan.
The pricing for Titanicus is nuts. Everyone in my meta who was hyped lost interest immediately after the price was announced. I feel bad because the models look really solid and I think it would be a blast to have massive scale battles with giant stompy robots, but outside of GW panic releasing a bunch of low cost vehicle models and turning Titanicus into a new Epic I don't see AT having anything more than the occasional game at Warhammer events and the required token mention in White Dwarf once a month.

Especially because even for the $290 price tag you only get ONE load out for each warlord titan (missile launchers, the same gun arm twice, the exact same loadout for each titan) and ONE loadout set for each knight lance (3x reaper chainswords, 1x of each knight gun).
I'm dropping 290 and I can't even customize my dudes. GW has been knocking it out of the park lately and this just feels like it fell out of a time portal from old GW.
I'm tempted to buy the Titanicus rules (because they seem really good) and just proxy models and just not play at my Games Workshop.
Not sure what would be the best miniature line to proxy with.
My first response was duh, Battletech. But the difference in size between a light and assault mech is nowhere near as extreme as scout and warlord titans. You’d probably need to stick with 40k models, or maybe something like Dust Tactics.

Might be an excuse to finally pick up some heavy gear miniatures. I mean, technically as long as everything is on the right base it doesn't actually matter how big the models are.
I know reaper has their CAV line, warmachine has plastic mechs now. I've got choices. Feels bad but yeah I think I'll be buying the rules but skipping the models. For all your talk of excessive prices (which I agree with) I hear that Titanicus sold out across the UK gaming shops of the internet within minutes of pre-orders going up.
My local area is so stoked on Kill Team that I haven't heard a peep about Titanicus, which is kind of sad, but my local Warhammer has sold out of all his shipments of the Kill Team starter within a day or two, and that is awesome.

It just bums me out. I love giant robots. The entire point of something like Titanicus to me is that it gives you giant robots at a scale that makes them affordable and easy to play with and transport. And then they just upped the scale and made it cost a ton and bulky.
Oh well, I’ve got alternatives minis to get my mech fix.
Put the finishing touches on my first units, the Cadian squad and the Sentinel. They aren’t great, and I can see plenty of room for improvement, but at least they pass the ‘does it look like what it’s supposed to be from 3 feet away sitting on a table?’ test. I’ll post some pictures when I get home and they’ve fully dried.
I picked up the Knight codex yesterday and it’s pretty cool. And since I finished painting 2 units I get to buy 2 more (which is the rule I made for myself so I don’t end up with a mountain of unpainted mini’s). I’m thinking about a box of Armigers and 1 of the big Knights. Probably a Paladin cause I love the idea of a rapid fire battle cannon and a big honking chain sword.
Now, a question. My local shop is having a tournament at the end of next month and I’m thinking about entering just for fun. The rules say it’s 1750 points and all armies must be battleforged. I’m just making sure that I can mix factions and still count as battleforged as long as they have compatible keywords, right? I’m not sure I can get 1750 worth of Cadians together in a month, but if I can throw some Knights in there with them I think I can.

Battle-forged armies share a faction keyword. As long as the tourney doesn't have rules against some factions/keywords then you're fine as they'd share "Imperium".
To avoid soup lists some tourneys will disallow imperium/chaos/aeldari as usable keywords.
I made the most of that eBay coupon and picked up the munitorum killzone, a tyranid killteam box, and some assorted bits for a little over 100 bucks. 8 shipping containers, a big heap of assorted barrels/boxes, and some crane tractors alone are worth it before all the assorted models, rules and gameboard are included. Gonna make me a trainyard.
I always scratch my head at their bundled box deals. A single shipping container kit is 50 bucks msrp. The killzone box is 80 bucks and comes with 2 of those kits plus a ton of other stuff. Why even put the shipping containers on the shelf next to that? Is it just to emphasize what a great deal you’re getting?

You can get a bottle of ketchup for three bucks or a big bottle with twice as much for four. Or you can buy a barrel of ketchup for fifteen and it has the equivalent of 100 small bottles but that would be stupid because youd never use all of it before it congealed or rotted past usability…
This is how prices have worked since the invention of the supermarket. GW just has the baseline multiplied by ten, because premium.

The single shipping container kit existed for a long time before the killzone box existed as well.
But it's most what Mr_Rose said. It's the same basic idea with supersizing food at a fast food place. Yes, the company makes strictly less from an X food per Y dollar perspective, but they make more from you from an X dollars per single purchase/visit department because you recognize the increased value if you go for a larger bundle/size.

Prior to my current career I managed various retail stores (electronics and automotive mostly), so from experience some products do exist with the sole purpose of providing an upsell to a more expensive product and making it seem like a fantastic deal.
For X you can get this or for Y you can get this plus way more, etc.
Who can forget the time that GW re-boxed Dire Avengers ; the box remained the same price but it went from 10 to 5 models.
What doesn’t help matters is that the kit is pretty old and doesn’t stand up to the latest releases. I’m sure if GW could, they’d make them cheaper but their hands are tied.
You can add scions to troops that should have come in a box of 10 (not necessarily at the same price).

If that box is like Forgebane and all the other similar ones, the models will be full sprue kits packed together, not simple/push-fit combined sprues. Which in turn means they have a full-up aberrant kit ready for someone to create box-art for. So, signs are good.
Played a 2v2 game today to help some club mates practice for Trios at NoVA. My team was my chaos and the guy who I was going to help GT practice's DE. DE be broke folks. :rotate:
Opponents were some token Space Wolves, a Castellian, and DA with 10 hellblaster/castle set up with the Dark Talon/Azrael/Chapter Ancient.
Our deployment was focused on limiting the knight and punishing the hellblasters. I brought 3x 5 man squads of noise marines with a blastmater/4x sonic blasters, a sorc, 2x lords (one with a jp), and a Exalted champ just because of how the points ended up. Also 30 cultist, and 3 oblits. Kind of half of my 2k list with all the hammers gone. My ally had 3 ravagers, 6 venoms, and just so many blasters.
First turn I lose 8 cultist. And we lose some wounds on a venom. We wipe out the hellblaster 10 man squad. Turn 2 we hold back the deepstrike since the knight was not in a good position. Kill some scouts, score points.
Turn 3 the knight kills two ravagers, lose two venoms. I lose some noise marines. Our turn we blast the knight for 27 out of 28 wounds. Actually killed it but the opponents had the reroll and made the save. I did roll bad with the blastmasters though. They just didn't finish it off.
By turn 4 our opponent had lost all but some scouts and a few DA characters and Bjorn. We have a bunch. Call it on time. Full point win but our opponents got some good practice out of it. Knights are still annoying but I don't mind bringing in some anti-tank in my armies anyway.

The box set comes with the cards for all of the weapons so you can field anything as long as you don’t care about wysiwyg. But yeah it seems like they are really bungling AT at the starting line.
