    Wii = in my possession.

I woke up at 6 AM, and since I don't drive, got dropped off at Best Buy aroud 6:30. My mom, who was my ride, didn't think there'd be a line. There was 31 people there by that time. So, I'm starting to panic. However, at 8, an employee comes out and announces how many they are getting in. 52. My day is sheer elation, and it only gets better when they hand out tickets. I am quite happy indeed, fairly few people couldn't get one, if I recall correctly. But, the upstanding chaps at Best Buy went back to the end of the line and gave the people who couldn't get one a rain check personally. Which I thought was pretty awesome.

I was totally prepared to be antisocial and such, had a portable DVD player and a DS, but ended up chatting it up with a mother of 6 who has the most morbid sense of humor and is a ballet instructor and some guy who works for Jeep.

Nabbed Twilight Princess there, but there were no wiimotes, nunchuks, or classic controllers to be found. Did get a free reward zone card, though. Which I thought was nifty.

The worst part, was after buying it. Sitting outside waiting for a ride. All paranoid someone's going to snatch it up.

Now, I get to write a paper while the Wii sits there taunting me, telling me I don't care about failing school so long as I get motion sensing goodness.

Woops, yeah. 12 PM on Monday. They said they get new shipments every week I guess. I didn't talk to them but I this is what they told my dad. I figure if they are telling him that they're telling everyone so I guess it's going to be hard to get one.

Thanks. I don't have high hopes, but I figure I'll never succeed if I don't keep trying.

Hmm, would that include Gamestop as well? There's one right near where I live, and I'm going to be driving at around that time anyway.

I got my Wii and Zelda today too at Best Buy. I was the sixth person in line, and they got at least 40 Wii units, maybe even 50 or more. There were at least 30 people further down in the line that were turned away as well.

I arrived at the Best Buy with a friend of mine (he didn't want the Wii, so he just hung around with me so I wouldn't get bored) at around 6:30 AM. There were only 5 other people ahead of me in line, one of which was a father buying a Wii for his son for Christmas. The people in line were nice, but nobody in line knew how many units they had until they passed out the tickets at around 9:30. When they manager showed up, he refused to tell the line the number of units, and was a total dick about it. The store had no accessories for sale, and they had 6 copies of Zelda (I was 6th in line, lucky).

In Canada it seems there are far more Units of Zelda than there are Wii's. In my fruitless search for the revered console, 8/10 stores still had copies of Zelda on the shelf, some with quite a few.

I'm pretty sure from this point on, nobody is allowing reserves on them. That's the line I got from every EB/Walmart/Target/etc etc that I went to before I did the line-waiting thing at Best Buy and got one yesterday morning.

It makes sense from their perspective, unfortunately, to do this. They'll fly off the shelves for the next 4 weeks without any effort on the retailer's part, and after Christmas quantity will be high enough that nobody will have trouble getting one.

If you lack the capability to wait outside a major retailer at least 2 hours before opening, it may be a while before you get your wii. Though never hesitate to call and ask, because no retailer in their right mind is just going to set them out on the shelves, and as I posted earlier, they are drop shipped by UPS/Fedex so they can come any day of the week.

One of our PS3 shipments arrived around 12pm last week, so those lucky few people didn't have to wait in any kinda line, they just asked for it.

So, I got my 360 from a 360 inventory tracker that checked best buys, circuit cities, and I think somewhere else for inventory.

Does anything like that exist for the Wii yet? I am an east coaster, so no Fry's here.

I don't like doing cold calls to outlets, but don't mind showing up at a store that shows them instock online (even if accuracy may not be 100%).

It was pretty painless for the 360. One day it made a ding and showed my circuit city had some in. I went down there and didn't see any, so I asked. They had them behind the customer service desk. Painless purchase.

This holding them for black friday, or holding them for sunday stuff is bs. It only allows those who can wait in line a chance to get one. I can't wait in line, but I could leave work on a moment's notice for 30 mins to get one and make up the time somewhere else.

I also can't hang around work calling gamestores.

My epic journey has come to an end. Thanks in part to this thread, I got a Wii at best buy yesterday morning!

I may have been teh guy that started the whole waltz in on launch afternoon and get a system rumor. I spent like 3 hours calling a week ago on launch morning and got nowhere. Black Friday, I went with a friend to wait in front a gamestop at 3:00 in the morning and like many others around the country, they only had 3 and the opening guy never bothered to tell us out in the frigid cold that.

At this point I was getting worried, not so much for my own gain but for my friend. He's in the army, and is only on leave for another couple weeks before probably being sent back to the desert.

During my regular call arounds, the people at best buy kept saying "Sunday, sunday, sunday!" so I figured that was pretty much the truth. Reading this thread, I found out that all the stores were garunteed a minimum. On Saturday, we finally talked another friend into coming with us - one with a car. We decided if there were more than 10 in line, then forget it. Since we were tired of getting the shaft - we were like 7th in line at that gamestop - we decided we should get there around midnight. My army friend brought an epic backpack with some blankets and a sleeping bag. I brought a blanket and my DS stuff.

When we got there about 12:30 there were only 6 or so people in line. Turns out those guys had been there since like 8 in the evening. Just when you think the bar can't be raised for geekdom, it always does. A few hours into it, our awesome friends brought a ton more blankets and hot food. It was fantastic. We caught some Z's and tried our best to kill time, but the wait still took forever. Later in the morning we made friends with a couple people behind us in line which was nice. Finally an hour before they opened they handed out tickets for 63 systems, which was still not enough for everyone there! Me and my friends made it home safe and high on victory, but as soon as I finsihed trying it out the adrenilene ran out and I slumped into bed.

It was really worth the wait, but I am seriously never doing this again.

See, and I'm the opposite. I have pretty rigid schedule right now, so about my only chance to get one is to wait in line on some weekend when I know they'll have some in. If I lived within reasonable driving distance of a Best Buy, I'd have one right now. But I really can't drive to stores in the middle of the day, so unless there are some on the shelves after 4:30pm I'm hosed.

At least until after 14 Dec. Then I shall become a fixture at my local Target.

So, the person answering the phone at my local Target, upon my asking for the electronics department, asks if this is in regards to the Nintendo Wii. I respond that of course it is, and I was just wondering if their FedEx/UPS shipments came in today, and if any were in them.

She responds that my local Target will get no more Wiis until after Christmas. I clarify, asking if that includes drop shipments, and if she's really saying they will not have a single 'nother console arrive at the store before the 25th. She say's that that's the case. I even ask if she's sure. She sure is.

So yeah, lying to me on the phone. After the person who works electronics told me to call a little later to see if any came in today. I intend to try and get the bitch fired. I mean, I simply can't see any way that any Target location, even one as remote as mine, would not receive a single console between now and Christmas.

Ask to speak to the Electronics Specialist. They are the ones actually in charge of Electronics and the ones with access to corporate message board (just because someone says they work in electronics doesn't mean they actually do, it just means they're in electronics right now). It's still possible for them to lie to you, but they're going to give you the most accurate information. Whoever you spoke to was most likely just someone covering a break or lunch. You're not going to get her fired for that, despite how pissed off you are; she's most likely seasonal anyways.

Man, nothing makes me feel more vindicated about deciding to camp for 12 hours for the launch than reading this thread. I was really on the fence because it was very cold that night and I thought that Wiis would be easy to find, but I got a bad feeling when I was turned away from Wal-Mart. When I saw the chance to be #14 in line out of at least 20 guaranteed Wiis, I fucking jumped at it.

I really hope you Wii seekers can get one in the next couple of weeks. Who knew demand would be this high and would last this long?

I got pretty much the same response from Target, even after the guys working in electronics on Black Friday said they'd definitely be getting more on Saturday.

    Gah!

Also, I think I might be able to find some extra Wii-motes and a couple of Classic controllers if people are interested. I'd only charge cost + s&h + a little bit for gas if there's any interest.

    I love my family

I woke up yesterday, to my mom telling me I had an hour before work, and they didn't get a Wii.

    They got three.

I was actually in a bad mood, because I had wanted to get up hours earlier to work on some paperwork for my job, so it was hard for me to enjoy this great gift. But I finished the work, and hurried to my job. Then I got a call, at work, telling me they didn't need me.

So I walked home(I live close), found one of them, cracked it the hell open and just... enjoyed.

Anyways, I guess that was too much personal info. My Mom, Dad, and Brother woke up early to go wait in line at best buy. One went for the "family"(read: me), they sold one to my best friend at cost, and my brother is putting his up on Ebay.

But god. I feel so sorry for you guys, really. You do all this work and can't get a Wii. I wake up from a nice sleep, and I have three in my house.

    Life is pretty unfair sometimes.
