I've never bought scouts and I'm pretty sure I got these in a trade but and they are scouts except the two I circled. I have no idea what they are. Does anyone know?
Played a Killteam game with my Space Marines against Deathwatch today. I don't know who thought SIA was only worth one point per weapon, but they are busted as hell.
I don't really like Reivers, but my Reiver Combat Specialist with a combat knife and a grapnel launcher was definitely the MVP of the games I played today - zipping around the map targeting high value targets with five close combat attacks (ten with Honor the Chapter) was a riot. Being able to charge models on the top of a three story piece of terrain from the ground level threw a big wrench into my opponent's plans for model placement, and it made for some pretty hilarious getaways. I might have to shuffle my list around a little bit and add another one to the roster.

There is not anything for Black Templars because they aren't really a core 40k fraction anymore.

Anyway, assembling a Warlord; not only can you tell that the Ardex weapons are there, the bolters on the front are visibly, distinctly the Mechanicum pattern Mauler Bolt Cannon rather that a regular Heavy Bolter, and that’s awesome. Similarly the level of detail is such that it really feels much bigger than it actually is, even when you have it in hand. Fantastic kit all around.

I don't think Reivers climb for free when they charge. Grapnel Launcher says it can be used during a "normal move". That also rules out using the grapnel when advancing.
You can charge down terrain though, anyone can jump down. Grav-cutes just let you ignore falling damage.
I only know this because I played against one yesterday and went over the Reiver rules before the game. He still took out so many of my stormtroopers.

Apologies for the auto-quote but I wanted to add; they’ve actually added a symbol to the assembly diagrams to indicate that a piece can be left off/painted separately, and they’ve put in suggested ‘pauses’ for when you might want to paint a sub-assembly like the legs.

Played a 2k game with my deathwatch today. I was helping some folks learn their list for NoVA since they haven't had a bunch of time to play till recently.
Its not what I would call a tourney list. But it is how I want to play my deathwatch. A veteran mixed army with lots of toys to answer a lot of threats. And probably smash a few heads or xenos.
My opponents were 2 1k list so they could learn parts.
1 part was a DW patrol with 1 fortis kt(1 inceptor, 1 aggressor, 3x hellblasters, 5 intercessors) and a watch captain. 3 bike captains on the damn jet bikes. The other half was DA and guard. The standard 3 guard squads with mortars, 1 company commander, some DA hell blasters, an intercessor, Pask and a Russ.
Lots of threats in there. I won on the points of the mission. In the end I had the sniper kill team, one fortis team down 1 intercessor and 1 hellblaster, one fortis kill team down to a single hellblaster, the apothecary (who always brought someone back each turn!) and my watch master. They had a watch master and 10 guardsmen and one intercessor.
My vanguard thanks to the close deployment (the one where you are 18" apart) got a first turn charge through LoS terrain tying them up for 2 turns due to a surround. I did basically no damage. Wiffed a billion rolls. It was painful. They ended up dying eventually over three combats. The termis killed 20 guardsmen, a couple hellblasters, and the opponents Primaris LT with powerfist.
The real heroes were the 10 man vet squad and watch captain Artemis in the blackstar. Killed a normal russ, Pask, 2 shield captains, the talonmaster and the third shield captain died to the exploding tank. My opponents rolls were pretty terrible on that charge after taking down my blackstar with them.
I will never disparage heavy THs again. They destroyed multiple heavy wound enemies. They were great.
It was a fun game. Story high points:
Leman Russ tank making 6 saves in a row with 1 wound left.
The lone vet with a heavy TH fighting the talonmaster at the end of the game killed him and the Talonmaster eating the last two cps of my opponent to kill him back. It was fantastic.
I love my deathwatch. Ammo gives a lot of choices. The tactics are great. Again I feel like they are what spacemarines should be. All are kind of bad asses.

My biggest sadness with KT is I have two vets with storm shields and bolt guns. They are there to tank cheaply for the back line attackers.
They aren't legal in KT. They would be so good.

So I am requesting paint scheme suggestions since I'm sort of stuck on what to do with some of my old Tyranids, paint wise. So I have a bunch of badly painted grey-blue and white guys I'm going to be repainting regardless, but a looong time ago an older friend of mine did a basic paint job on a number of my other Tyranids. The paint scheme is skin color (though I never found the exact paint or mix of paints) with beetle black armor finished with gloss (and white teeth and red eyes) in general I somewhat like the look, but I want these nids to match the Genestealer Cult I'm going to be starting which is more tentacly/Ktulu cult themed in general. I'm not sure if I should stick with this scheme and just add some details to make them more watery or ktulu-y or if I should just finish giving them washes and dryrbrushing and detail work which I don't think he ever did. I experimented with a couple of washes on some hormogaunts.
So for reference, left is the minis look as I have most of them, middle is with a dark brown non-gloss wash, the last is with Agrax Earthsade Gloss wash

really one of the problems I have with Black Templars is the Neophytes the recruits of the chapter and the Neophytes{generic Black Templars}
As mixed armor rolls really are annoying and really take a lot of time to resolve thus leading me to not take neophytes

I never fear death or dyin', I only fear never trying.
I got to play a 40k game over the weekend! It interrupted World of Warcraft level time, but that's okay. I need a guild / friends in it anyways.
Anyhoo, I deployed Necrons and I was happy with the list. Quick synopsis.
6 Destroyers
2 Heavy destroyers (two squads of 3 destroyers and one heavy)
9 wraiths (squads of 5 and 4)
7 Deathmarks
1 Doomsday Ark
15 Immortals (5 Gauss) split into 3 squads
1 Lord
1 Overlord
1 Cryptek
1 Nightbringer
I leave to go get a drink and come back and see this lined up (all pics spoiled for size)
An Atropos!
..the fuck is an Atropos...?
Well, let's try it!
Open War, Supply Cache, a pretty close deployment. The game starts. I did not go first. The Knights move forward and open fire. The Doomsday Ark Quantum Shielding is a champ and totally mitigates a 5 damage hit. Doomsday Ark ends the turn at 8 (to be healed to 9) of 14 wounds. The Wraiths take some fire, but 3++'s for days means only light casualties. And here is where my first major mistake occurs.
I placed the Nightbringer too far forward and the deployment was too close. First turn charges by the Knights got the Atropos into melee and he obliterated the Nightbringer with some weapon that's like 14 strength / 6 damage versus monsters....which the Nightbringer is! The Nightbringer survived initially, but a stratagem that let the Knight fight again solved that issue. And, of course..
Reality Unravels.
I said screw it, did not re-roll, and then took 3 mortals on two separate squads of Immortals each and 2 mortals on my Lord. The Knights actually also took 2 and 3 Mortals (the other forge world knight was also in melee).
The Wraiths, meanwhile, continued to mitigate damage like the scary mofos they are and strike back, doing a surprising amount of damage, but both knights are fine.
My turn begins and I fire back. The Doomsday Ark, after a re-roll for shots, lands SIX HITS and wounds SIX TIMES on the Atropos. I am giddy as fuck because he did not rotate ion shields (he was trying to do it afterwards so I couldn't just switch the Destroyers to the other Knight I presume). This, THIS will surely cost him thinks I. Six wounds on a D6 damage weapon? Maybe I can come back from losing the Nightbringer like an idiot by placing him too far forward?
Or the Atropos can make three of six saves and then use his warlord re-roll and a command point re-roll to mitigate five of six wounds. Okay, sure, that works too. Atropos ends up only taking 5 damage from the Doomsday Ark.
The Destroyers and follow-up charges by the Wraith squads occurs. Both squads of Destroyers are My Will Be Done'd via stratagem and emerge to open fire. Rotate ion shields happen here, but I say F it, possibly foolishly?, and still concentrate fire. Use of Destroyer stratagem + My Will Be Done + the follow up Wraith charge and melees causes the Atropos to be dropped to one wound above his bottom damage track. 3++ save makes sure the Wraiths don't suffer too greatly from this and I am now surprised by how well Wraiths do against Knights. I file that away for future battles.
An amusing moment occurs when on his following turn, he finds some space to fall back (my consolidation of the Wraiths could have prevented this due to screens and that they're not infantry and can't be walked over, but I screwed up) and again fires at the Doomsday Ark with the Atropos. The big cannon (black hole cannon?) rolls a die. On a 6, he's guaranteed 6 damage. On a 1, he takes a mortal wound....but he's firing at a Doomsday Ark with quantum shielding. He rolls a six. Realizing that that means that I'll most likely make the quantum shield roll no matter what (and command point re-roll if I don't), HE command point re-rolls....into a 1. The Atropos takes a mortal wound and that puts him in his lowest damage track. Expletives follow.
The attrition grind continues with no one finding the supply cache despite five of six objectives being occupied at all times. Reanimation protocols cause most of the Immortals to return from Reality Unravels amusingly, and they get some wounds in, but the Knights carve their way forward....but due to terrain and screening and the Wraiths ducking in and out of melee (3++, toughness 5's just do not die), it's not as easy going as expected.
Post screens followed by another round and my front line falls back.
I am down to two Wraiths, but the Atropos finally go down. I waste some command points trying to bring back Wraiths, but only manage to bring back one. That is definitely payback for bringing back three of four in a prior game. At this point, though, damage is slowly accruing on the Knights and damage tracks are starting to matter. The Supply Cache has still not been found.
The Knights push forward, but due to terrain and screens, the Destroyers are able to keep moving back and firing. Foolish use of command points loses me their stratagem, but the Knights are being whittled down and, more importantly, the Destroyers that are killed on return fire are re-animating. His Guardsmen are now advancing, but their flashlights do nothing.
Finally, at turn 4, the supply cache is found on the opposite side of the map by some responsible Guardsmen. There's no way I can make it to them with two Knights in the way and not get melee'd to death.
The game is over.
I will learn placement one of these days!

Debated for quite a while whether I should do this or the alternative, which would be to knock the Stalker-Pattern guy down to a regular Vet and make him a Sniper whilst giving Heavy to the Gunner with the Frag Cannon.
I decided on this configuration because I get to give some extra power to the Heavy Thunder Hammer guy who honestly could use +1 attacks, always, more than the Frag Cannon guy could use an occasional +1 to hit after Advancing. The Frag Cannon just seems so strong by itself. The HTH is also strong but is hobbled by the forced -1 to hit on attacks, so having an extra attack means less turns where I'm whiffing completely thanks to poor dice luck. I really hate whiffing completely.
And I just like Heavy for a Death Watch sniper-style character more than I like Sniper itself. Custom Ammunition is incredibly flexible but the only thing it doesn't help with is accuracy while moving. Giving him the Heavy specialization fills that void. And with the flexibility from CA, an occasional additional attack for 1CP feels more powerful here than it does on the Frag Cannon. Now, my Stalker-Pattern guy can always hit on a 3+ when shooting, even if he's moved and the target is Obscured. If the target's not Obscured for some reason, then he can hit on a 3+ even when moving while also wounding on a 2+ or having tons of AP.
Once I get some more minis, I can make a few more ranged guys in case the mission type doesn't have much use for melee dudes. But my first five minis simply had to include a big hammer and a sword and board guy with a badass cloak.
I've finished the Adeptus Titanicus building terrain set. The kit itself is really cool and pretty damn modular.
Stacked
Unstacked
Real cool kit. But man... they don't go easy on you. The 90 degree joints are fine as each wall section end has either slots or tabs that rest nicely into each other, and they're uniform hence why they're so modular. But what makes the kit tricky is that most of the wall sections are 1 block size (see the top of the buildings, you can see on the roof sections what I'm talking about). So in order to build out a 2+ block length wall, you have to lay down both sections of wall, and then use a middle girder piece which is angled to join the two wall sections together. So you have to get the walls lined up right, you have to get the girder lined up, you have to make sure the girder isn't set too high or too low on the wall section. You then once its thinking about drying to line up against the ceiling panel to ensure that one of the wall sections doesn't dry a degree or two off from the other wall pieces which will result in oddities once you try and put all the pieces together in final assembly.

They aren't legal in KT. They would be so good.
So for reference, left is the minis look as I have most of them, middle is with a dark brown non-gloss wash, the last is with Agrax Earthsade Gloss wash
The big obnoxious last thing to was my infantry, which were the first things I painted and needed the most love.

really one of the problems I have with Black Templars is the Neophytes the recruits of the chapter and the Neophytes{generic Black Templars}
As mixed armor rolls really are annoying and really take a lot of time to resolve thus leading me to not take neophytes
And Tankred!

Jesus, 10 years? I've been on this forum way too long. :P
also... has it been 10 years? can't be... that secret santa was, like... (*checks when the 2009 space wolves codex came out) 2009? shiiiit. 9 years isn't exactly better. what the fuck. i thought i had only been painting for 5. i know i've been posting here under different usernames since 2003.
always liked posting her about 40k but stopped because of my job (insider knowledge was such a burden). trying to post her more now that at i can enjoy things just as just any other fan again.

The Waterslides as my brother went yes finally the dancing wolf!
Just I am kind of dismayed they don't have it yet on the website
So I wonder anyone getting it would be willing to part with the dancing wolf part of the sheet?
Loadout, left to right;
Debated for quite a while whether I should do this or the alternative, which would be to knock the Stalker-Pattern guy down to a regular Vet and make him a Sniper whilst giving Heavy to the Gunner with the Frag Cannon.
