Marquis de Lafayette Arrives in Colonies

Marquis de Lafayette left France in early 1777 to seek service with
the Patriots. Offering to serve at his own expense, he was commissioned
a Major General in the Continental Army and became
a close confident to George Washington. Wounded at the Battle of
Brandywine Creek, he served in the army until January 1779.

    Tories Tested

Tories were also called Loyalists, Royalists or King’s men. Patriots
referred to them as “persons inimical to the liberties of America.”
When their cause was defeated, about 15% of the Loyalists or
65,000–70,000 emigrated to other parts of the British Empire.

I was wondering why I had you at 6 on the board, but usually it's the board that's wrong.

Also lol it's Winters Quarters again!

Second one in a row that's as early as possible. I'm not gonna have time to make a post calling out everything that's needed, so if people can take the time to do that on their own that would be excellent. For our part the Indians will be moving to SW/NW so there are four in each space.

Somebody please double-check my work here, but I think it's right...

    Supply Phase:
    - All British forces are in supply
    - Patriots are out of supply in: New York, Quebec, Maryland/Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia. Only place that this matters (i.e., only place with more than one unit) is in Quebec. @A Half Eaten Oreo to either pay one resource or remove one Militia from Quebec
    - All French forces are in supply
    - Indians are out of supply in North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland/Delaware, and Pennsylvania. @admanb to either pay one resource per each of those spaces where he leaves units or move those units to the nearest province with a village (Penn. and Maryland units would go to Northwest, North Carolina unit to Southwest, the Virginia unit may go to either Northwest or Southwest)

    West Indies Battle
French and British battle in the West Indies.
British loss level = 1d3 + 1 (for opposing force being 50%+ regulars)
French loss level = 1d3 + 1 -1 (for opposing force being 50%+ regulars / for attacking in West Indies with one squadron present)
Geth, roll 1d3 for base British Loss Level
Geth, roll 1d3 for base French Loss Level

    base British Loss Level:
    1d3 1 [1d3=1]
    base French Loss Level:
    1d3 2 [1d3=2]

    West Indies Battle Resolution:
    British loss level = 1+1 = 2
    French loss level = 2+1-1 = 2
The British lose 1 regular and the French lose 1 regular
@TheColonel may either return any of his remaining West Indies units to available and/or pay one resource if any remain

The French will pay one resource to keep both regulars in the West Indies

    Resources Phase:
British gain 6 resources (3 forts + 3 population in non-blockaded British controlled cities: Quebec (1), Savannah (1), and Charleston (1))
Indians gain 2 resources (half of 5 villages, rounded down)
Patriots gain 6 resources (3 forts + half of 6 Rebellion controlled spaces, rounded down)
French gain 4 resources (FNI level of 2 + 2 population in cities not controlled by British: Norfolk (1) and Philadelphia (1))

    Support Phase:
@TheColonel may spend resources to build support in New York City only (it's the only space with regulars and tories that's not already at active support).
@A Half Eaten Oreo may spend resources to raise opposition in any rebellion controlled space with Patriot pieces: Georgia, Norfolk, Philadelphia, New York, Massachusetts

I'll pause there for everyone to catch up and check my work.

Let the militia starve in Quebec.
Pay 2 resources to increase Opposition in New York to Passive Oppose .
Pay 1 resource to increase Opposition in Norfolk to Active Oppose.

Looking ahead I believe 2 militia and 1 continental will desert from the Armies of Freedom.

  • Options
    TheColonelTheColonel ChicagolandRegistered User regular
    The Brits will:
Spend 1 to keep our boys in the West Indies
    No spend in NYC

1 Tory will desert here shortly, with French picking.

@Hedgethorn to choose the deserting Tory.

    Overmountain Men Fight for NC

The Overmountain Men rallied from the Indian Reserve to win the
Battle of Kings Mountain over the Loyalist militia in the Southern
campaign of the American Revolutionary War on October 7, 1780.
The Patriot militia defeated the Loyalist militia commanded by
British Major Patrick Ferguson of the 71st Foot, who was killed.

    Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben

Baron von Steuben was a Prussian-born American Inspector General
and Major General of the Continental Army. He is credited
with being one of the fathers of the Continental Army in teaching
them the essentials of military drills, tactics, and disciplines. Steuben
established standards of sanitation and camp layouts that would still
    be standard 150 years later

    William Alexander, Lord Stirling

As a Brigadier General in the Continental Army, at the Battle
of Long Island, Lord Stirling led the stalwart, well-trained 1st
Maryland Regiment in repeated attacks against a superior British
Army force at the Old Stone House and took heavy casualties.
Heavily outnumbered, his brigade was eventually overwhelmed and
Stirling himself was taken prisoner during the retreat, but not before
repelling the British forces long enough to allow the main body of
Washington’s Continental troops to escape. He was praised by both
Washington and the British for his bravery and audacity. Released
in a prisoner exchange he was promoted to the rank of major general
and became one of Washington’s most trusted generals.
