I can take it next, I suppose.
It has been a while.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
What is involved in this, again? It involves a CD doll being sent around, right?

I've been reading Homestuck for the first time, so I have avoided this thread in order to not see spoilers. In fact I am just posting this without really reading the thread (sorry) but I had to... HAD to express my feelings to folks who would understand.
FUCK. ERIDAN.
...
(Just reached the end of LMTYAH episode Alpha 19. Aka page number 3349.)
Hooo I need some deep breaths and to go to my happy place. Fuck that guy, seriously. Literally the worst.
Hambent seems to have the most tortured dev cycle I've ever seen for a video game
if nothing else it managed to punt about 3/4s of the franchise's enormous fanbase into the aether to get sucked up by every other 2014-era nascent fandom (of which my favorite was seeing dow many Homestuck kids at conventions moved to JoJo instead)
Homestuck probably would have been much better if the game never happened
Or if the original developer had actually worked on it at least.
Can only speak for myself but I'd probably be less down on Act 6 if the back half of it that I really don't like hadn't also taken 4ish years to finish.
That's a lotta waiting and disappoinment mixing together.
Aw well, still had a good time with the rest of it.

Like there is a strong chance the story was true and they got pretty hard screwed over by the original developer. It is super hard anyway for someone who never did a game to actually succeed from a kickstarter. For someone to actually put out a product after almost being completely wiped out by shenanigans, is actually super impressive.
The Homestuck game might not have ended up how we had hoped, but you have to give some respect to Andrew for actually getting SOMETHING done against all odds. A lot of people with more experience with that kind of thing would have given up long before he did.

The saddest thing for me is after all of the garbage that it went through i really ended up liking Hiveswap
Which only makes me more furious that the team ended up getting dropped like a sack of potatoes

...there are dissenting opinions on the moon landing as well but I'm gonna trust Buzz Aldrin on this one, if you get my drift. Or to be blunt, I know these people.
The mistake was creating a Kickstarter while Homestuck was still well under way. The logic was sound, having the Kickstarter funded and ready to GO the second Homestuck proper ended, but Hussie should have probably known by that point that Homestuck never meets a deadline. Obviously literal theft is something you can't foresee, but Kickstarter games (especially first-time ones from a guy who never developed a game) always have some hiccups and rarely hit their ETAs. But that's, you know, hindsight 20/20 and all that. It's super impressive he was able to turn a disaster into his own indie studio and release a solid portion of the game.
What rubs me the wrong way is canning everyone who worked on this development hell project and turned it around. Like, it's fine if you want Hauntswitch done by whatever Viz-approved dev. But it seems super cold to take the writers, artists, and programmers who pulled this shit out of the fire and hand them a pink slip after it finally gets off the ground.

Good point. I do try to keep an open mind, as hard as it is in this case.

Although that whole deal kinda soured me on the whole game.
The Odd Gentlemen seem like a...
not great dev to work for. or work with.
Unless it's now in-house? IDK, I'm not following this closely enough?

You are so far behind on the drama for this.
Really?

I’m in that camp as well, but there were dissenting opinions and I wanted to be considerate towards that
