That piano when Slick confronts Snowman is so good
That part sticks with me more than perhaps any other. Mostly because I always loved the "If you kill her you destroy the universe" from the Intermission and while Spade getting that gun and firing that one bullet at Snowman was not... unexpected, it was still pretty satisfying.
Well, okay, there is one other thing: Savior of the Dreaming Dead, a song I liked before [ S] Cascade was released, appearing right after that... I just had the biggest goddamn smile on my face when I finally got to that part.

Remember how Jade goes god tier and gets first guardian powers in Cascade and then literally never gets to use them for all of act 6 except for when she's mind controlled?

Boy that was dumb.
on one hand yeah, on the other hand her power set is so absurd i don't know how you let her be in the mix without just completely killing the tension
Be sure to ask questions about anything confusing so we may lord our superior knowledge over you and constantly go "Ooh wait till you get to the thing"
I can't remember anything that happens in Homestuck. I'm starting to suspect that the whole thing is a hoax. A webcomic with animations and music and games built right in? Get out of town.

It's all an elaborate fan project to flesh out lore for a bunch of compilation albums on Bandcamp

I got to the middle of Act 6 in real time and never got back on after the Hiatus.

one of the most harmlessly and curiously odd parts about peak Hamsteak fandom was that there was totally a sub-sub-sub-fandom of a few dozen people who get not only really into the music, but specifically *really * into the alt universe stuff in Mobius Trip and Hadron Kaleido
like, the Homestuck fandom was so huge that there are definitely entire layers to it that have totally been forgotten in time like tears in the Faygo

Bowman wrote a concept album, of course he was gonna generate a subfandom.

I mean it never really addressed the characters’ utter lack of agency throughout the story, which did slowly whittle down the tension.
As I said way back, but my reaction to Game Over wasn’t “OH SHIT” but just “huh, wonder how this will be reset.”

That seems like an odd example, since it was reset by proactive choices made by two of the main characters

I kind of agree with that though. The rules always changing thing was pretty much what made Homestuck what it was. It was what made Problem Sleuth what it was too. But when it hit the point of handwaving ANY form of finality at all with SOMETHING it became impossible to feel like there a lose condition. Because even when you were told there was, you knew it wasn't going to be real.
Then again, that kind of ended up as the entire theme of the story.
Maybe that was done to make it so it could work as well, but I kind of accepted the concept of just... EVERYTHING... being designed as one big game being played by Caliborn / Lord English that purposely was not supposed to be possible to ever lose enough to end because he just wanted to be able to keep playing. Also that the ending was pretty much everyone breaking out of that concept to actually be somewhat normal again.
Seems to me like Homestuck though was always just beyond absurd but functional in its absurdity, and just everyone had their own line that once it crossed it they became unable to become invested anymore. Like, I think a lot of people disliked the point where the Dancestors became a thing in that walkaround, but I really rather enjoyed that part because I liked seeing what stupidly absurd personality would be created for them, then just ignoring them because yeah they were stupid as hell. But the development of Meenah and a few others were still pretty great.
I really need to do a reread / rerunthrough of homestuck because the only time I went through it again was a second time right after Cascade. Which was not long after my entire first read through because I started right before Cascade.

It honestly doesn't seem like much a choice when the only other option is to...let everything stay fucked.
Although it was an excellent reminder that Terezi Owns.
I saw a random Homestuck at IKEA on Saturday. She was wearing a Jade Hoodie and a John t-shirt and a hat with Troll horns. I gave her a high-5 and said I liked her hoodie and she seemed very confused.

Been playing MTG and, uhhhhh...
I think someone stole Vriska from Hussie.
Here's an actual card.
That "Vraska" is a planeswalking pirate gorgon from pirate land who's known for her scheming...
And she's showing up a lot now, i think as a recurring prantogonist.
i really hope hussie got paid for this one. But then again, it's probably Viz' handywork.
Wtf that isn't a real card....wtf..... Like... No way
this "Vraska" has, like, 5 planeswalker cards and is features in name or in person on a bunch of instants and sorceries.
She's a big deal and literally just "Vriska with two a's"
Just check out her biography
This mysterious Planeswalker wields a suite of deadly spells that suit her gorgon nature. She specializes in magic that involves assassination, stealth, and petrification. And she likes to take souvenirs …
During her time on Ravnica, Vraska has provided certain dark services to the Golgari guild. Her magic helps her track her chosen marks through the fungus-choked tunnels of the undercity, where she destroys her victims quietly. When necessary, she can even summon shadowy killers to do her dirty work for her.
The Golgari see her as a useful enigma: a shadowy death specialist who only responds to the jobs she wants in exchange for strange favors and obscure trophies. Vraska stays largely out of guild politics and cares little about the inner workings of the Golgari Swarm. She gets the job done and departs again, not to be seen until another mission interests her.
Vraska's power is clear, but her true motivations are a mystery, even to other gorgons. Unknown to the Golgari Swarm, she spends a significant portion of her time on planes other than Ravnica, using her death-dealing powers to slowly build a collection of petrified victims from across the universe.
Fun fact: if I create a character called Jomes Band who is a womanizing alcoholic superspy from Germany, I don't have to give the estate of Ian Fleming a damn thing.

hell the dancestor walkarounds are some of the single worst pages in the entire story and those were concurrent with the kickstarter

It has many of my absolute favorite parts
And also several parts that are outright offensive to a degree that nothing in the rest of the story hits
It's an extremely mixed bag
