I feel like it's really weird to do reveals like this when practically none of the player base has access yet. Even if you know how the mechanics work, which they appear to be explaining as they go, we have no game sense yet.
This is a 19 gold item. Is that a lot? I can't tell if I should be excited about the card or not. The playabilty of a card is a function of both its effect and its cost. In magic the gathering, a difference of 1-2 converted mana cost can easily be the difference between being top tier and unplayable jank.
19 gold is a medium to large amount of gold. Most of the game-ending items cost 25 gold and they do crazy things. So 19 gold means you'll probably be buying it after turn 4(ish).

That gives me an idea of roughly what point in the game such an effect becomes playable, but I still don't have a feel if that effect is worth such a cost. Is it fairly costed, a bargain, or a noob trap? For my own lack of knowledge of the proper terminology or game mechanics, it looks like repeatable card advantage via stealing permanents from their side of the board. That strikes me as something with the potential to snowball out of control if not answered, but again the cost of the effect is everything and I have no experience with the game to make a call of whether it's great or a trap.
Stealing a creep every 2 turns is... ok. It really depends on what the opponent does. If it's just the default creep it's a waste. But if they put down a nice powerful creep in the lane with immunity, sure, steal that. It does give the opponent a turn after you play it to try to figure out how to respond if they already have a powerful creep in play.
All of the blue cards seem very powerful, but their heroes tend to be very weak and easy to kill. A lot of late strategy probably revolves around making sure blue decks can't cast spells by stunning or killing their heroes.
No to both of those. I've decided against trying to buy a key unless someone here has an extra one they don't want. I'll just wait for an official Valve way to get into the beta, and if there isn't one, guess I'll be playing in 2 months.
It was the same way with Dota 2 during the beta. Lots of frustrated people, but what can you do? I imagine they don't want to open the floodgates on their servers just yet.
I mean, good on them for using TDD, but they could probably parameterize their tests a bit better.
It also doesn't necessarily guarantee no bugs, as by relying on coverage you're opening the door for weird corner cases to rear their heads.

Nice of them to share that, very interesting test case based development for a card game.
Probably they are not making any design changes to the cards and just making sure that everything interacts with each other in the way its supposed to.
I actually wonder, is the “beta” that’s running currently the full version or is it still the limited version they’ve shown at conventions? I actually wonder if the “beta” in November might actually be more of a pre-release event, since I think all the beta keys so far also come with the full version of the game. And then it could roll into full release without a wipe.

The Artifact Beta is coming soon and while we get everything polished, we're at the point where we're excited to share some previously unseen features.
On November 10-11, the Artifact Preview Tournament will feature 128 players competing over a prize pool of USD $10,000. Hosted by Beyond The Summit and broadcast on SteamTV, the all-draft event will feature a 7 round Swiss bracket on Saturday. A top 8 single elimination bracket will decide the winner on Sunday. Both days begin at 9AM PST.
The tournament will be run entirely through an in-client tournament system which will be available for everyone to use on launch day, November 28th.

Anyone else gonna be checking out the tournament this weekend? I'll be watching most likely when I don't have to run errands. I hope they follow certain drafters and explain why they're picking certain things. I'm excited to finally see the game in action outside of the preconstructed decks at PAX.
I also feel like the game will probably be delayed if the beta is coming on the 19th and it releases on the 28th? Seems like too short of a beta time. Oh, well. Maybe they'll open the beta up to preorders to really stress their servers out, and then I can play.

Diabolic Revelation is such a neat card. I like that they're putting very strong effects in the game that have drawbacks.
I was worried that they would limit the cool mechanics like Hearthstone did, but it's looking like they're going more with Magic levels of complexity.

My fingers are crossed for time spiral levels of fun.

I love the aesthetic they're going for with the creep hero cards, they are really neat!

...but with no way to install it available. I assume this means open beta is imminent?
Yeah wtf. Why did they do that? Why not have beta be a full month?

They have people playing it right now so maybe they are comfortable with most aspects of the game.
