I want AC6 myself. While AC5 is amazing, AC6 is a game I've never gotten the chance to play.
I hope they remaster AC4 and AC0 too.
For redundancy's sake, here's the AC6 bonus outlined for AC7 pre-orders on Xbox. So, I wasn't even aware that AC6 had joined the backwards compatibility program--shame on me, I wonder if there's any visual improvement. Similarly, has there been any experience with AC5 on PS4? Or is that coming down the line with AC7? I'm wonder if it's just a straight up PS2-game packaged on PS4, or something more elaborate.
I prefer AC5 myself, hands down, but AC6 is still a reasonably good looking game, and was gorgeous when it came out. AC5 has aged significantly more, inevitably, and could use an upgrade.
How many PSVR exclusives have come to PC? Given that none of the Ace Combat games (other than AH) have come to PC in non-VR configs, I doubt this will.
Off the top of my head:
- Psychonauts: Rhombus of Ruin
- Batman: Arkham VR
- Moss
- Thumper
- GNOG
- Rez Infinite
- Skyrim VR
- Superhypercube
- Stifled
- Battlezone
- Robinson
- The Rise of the Tomb Raider VR mission
- Megaton Rainfall
Though your point stands, I'm pretty sure some of these were never even stated as PSVR exclusives, they just happened to come to PSVR first (which, considering its popularity next to Vive/Rift isn't surprising).

Has AC7 VR been stated as a PSVR exclusive? As far as I know Sony only uses that to describe their first party stuff. Things like RE7 are just unknowns.

I thought Sony outright described AC7 as a "PSVR exclusive" in advertising, though I could be wrong. As is often the case with VR, a lot of the promotional language involves a certain amount of weasel-ly desperation, Sony's included (along with Occulus and Valve). The messaging for AC7 was a bit confusing too very early on, since one of the earliest announcements was for PSVR (even before it had been launched, as I recall), giving some the impression that it was a Playstation exclusive too.
I would seriously reconsider a second purchase if the Steam version was made VR compatible, and that's with my general aversion to re-buying console games on Steam later.
I mean, I'd love to see this become the Superhot of VR flight arcade games, and for them to put it on everything they can manage (Xbox achievements on PC? Why not?), but that seems almost guaranteed not to be the case.
Man, if AC5 is a remaster and not just AC5 emulation on the PS4, I'm pumped. However since AC6 is coming to Xbox, I'm assuming this is just the emulation version.

I think I saw one of the japanese devs tweet that it was a port.
Which is a bummer, but dammit I'm ready to discuss Faces of the Coin again.
It was a bit hard to get a notion of livery customization depth, but I hope it's hilariously deep, and I really, really hope this gets popular enough on Xbox that some of the honest-to-god Michelangelos designing vinyl sets in Forza take a crack at this.
That aside, the mechanical customization options are a nice touch. Given the arcade formula, there's probably a lot of freedom with tweaking without falling into the whole, "This is the only good build for an F-14D and this is the only good build for a Su-35."
Sadly special tech weapons seemed to be locked to each plane, likely to make them slightly more unique amongst themselves. Other than that, the new upgrade and tuning system looks amazing.

Is that the first time they've shown a collectors edition?

No HOTAS, what kinda garbage is this?
Are you saying no support for HOTAS or no special edition of the game that comes with a stick?
I'm saying that this CE doesn't have a HOTAS and they should feel bad for that exclusion.
OK this is bad but I just bought a PS4 hotas stick in anticipation of the VR portion of this game and was struck with terror. Because there aren't exactly a whole whack of games that support the thing.

This actually got me thinking, and research shows that there is one (and probably only one) XB1-compatible HOTAS, for anyone who's getting this on Xbox: the redundantly named Thrustmaster VG T Flight Thrustmaster HOTAS, which is basically the Xbox version of the same mini-HOTAS for PS3 and PS4.
Though considering my own console is, a non-wireless HOTAS would be somewhat awkward to use. Plus I've been spoiled by my X 56. I'd just get it for PC.
Having just realized that my PS3 will play my old PS1 discs, I'm now three missions into Ace Combat 2 and this might be my favorite, even though it looks like it's made of Legos.
So many memories -- flying my A-6 under the suspension bridge in the second mission (the assault on the aircraft carrier in the harbor) and shooting down F-16s with it … This time, however, I'm not repeatedly trying & failing to fly through the highway tunnel before realizing it's not actually a tunnel.
Plus, it's got Batou from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex narrating.
I could never get into the 3DS despite trying (I ended up returning mine to Target), but it seems pretty clearly superior to Assault Horizon in every way that matters.

Xbox gets AC6.
No word on Steam, but AC5 is a remaster not a port so multiple old games might be getting the treatment.
Also condolences Xbox owners you guys gotta go dance with the angels.

Any word on if you can pre-order in a store to get that stuff? Or is it digital only?

Include the soundtrack to AC 7 instead. :U
Yessssssss!
Yeah there are 5 missions total that they estimate it would take about 3 hours to complete.
Which is basically why I’m not too concerned about them ending up on the PC version. Cool if they do, but fine if they don’t.
Yes, I will throw money at a glorified arcade mode for that. Someday.

Wouldn't it be both (outside of whatever joystick support comes on PC)?
Though yes, AC5 and AC6 special editions came with (simplified) HOTAS controllers compatible with PS2 and Xbox 360.
I suddenly had a fever dream of AC5 on the original Xbox being being hacked to use the Steel Battalion controller. What could never have been.

EDIT: has anyone used the trustmaster sticks? I'm only 5ft away from my PS4, might be worth it in VR.
