PAX Aus 2018 - Tabletop RPG events

delwyndelwyn Melbourne, AURegistered User regular
edited October 2018 in PAX Australia
PAX Aus 2018 approaches, and with it our talented team of volunteer GMs, bringing a wide variety of RPG events for you to play and enjoy!

Events begin each day, from 11 am, and continue through until just before closing time. Everything you need is provided, so whether you're an old hand at roleplaying, or are interested in trying out something new, our GMs are ready for you to take a seat and enjoy in the fun!

Many of our events run for 2 hours, and will start on the odd-numbered hours - there may be some exceptions however, so be sure to check on the day. Places in each game are limited, so it's best to be on time or a few minutes early.

How to Join a Game

Pathfinder/Starfinder, the D&D Adventurers League, and Call of Cthulhu will be managing their own signup process, so please see the relevant coordinator in the RPGs area.

The Cornucopia of RPGs (and the Green Ronin and Fragged Empire games) will make use of numbered tickets to act as a "virtual queue", providing an improved chance of getting a seat at your favourite event. Tickets are available from the RPGs Enforcer, are valid for that day only, and are limited to one per person to provide opportunities for more people. When the GM of the event is ready to accept players, ticket holders will receive priority placement at the table, in numerical order, with any remaining seats open to other interested parties. Should there be more potential players than seats, individual GMs will use whichever random method they prefer to determine who gets to play - probably involving dice, since we're tabletop games!

Note: Tickets are not required to participate in a game, nor do they guarantee you a seat at the table, they simply improve your chances.

Keep an eye on this post, as some events are still being finalised, and times are subject to change.

Want to know more? Ask questions below, or come find us at PAX Aus.

Hi there! Keen to play some Adventurer's League, everything in the Indie Showcase and... that... Dragon Age one because that description is amazing.

Where would we find the RPG enforcer, and can we sign up for more than one event at a time?

    Hi Daeva,

The Cornucopia events, along with Fragged Empire and Green Ronin, won't be taking signups, but rather will be seating players who are available when it's about to begin. Places will first be offered to those who have collected a generic numbered ticket, which acts as a virtual place in a queue, with lower ticket numbers getting preference.

The Adventurers League, Pathfinder/Starfinder Society, and Chaosium events have taken advanced signups in past years, but tend to limit advance signups to only be a few hours in advance, so as not to disadvantage people who arrive later in the day. Please note that this process may be different this year, depending on how each of the three groups decides to manage their events.

It's our preference that you only claim one ticket at a time for Cornucopia events, due to their very limited availability, however holding a Cornucopia ticket does not preclude you from signing up for other events with the Adventurers League, Pathfinder/Starfinder Society, or Chaosium.

If you have trouble locating the RPGs area in Tabletop, just ask any of the Enforcers around, or head across to Tabletop HQ, and we'll get you sorted out. There will be a whiteboard in the RPGs area, with listings of all of the above events, and the RPGs Enforcer will be in the vicinity, with the day's tickets.

(Apologies for posting the Kickstarter link. I asked Delwyn if it was ok, and neither of us realised it wasn't allowed. Sorry about that.)
