Fun fact: if I create a character called Jomes Band who is a womanizing alcoholic superspy from Germany, I don't have to give the estate of Ian Fleming a damn thing.

This is the first thing I worry about whenever I create anything, so I will be filing this information somewhere safe.

Lets turn this around a little. How many actual James Bond knockoffs/parodies/pastiches are running arounf in popular culture? None of them have affected the popularity of James Bond. Or, since we're talking about Magic: The Gathering, what about the 8 hojillion collectible trading card games about summoning monsters and casting magic spells that followed in its wake? Some were successful, some weren't, none of them disrupted MtG in the slightest. The hardest lesson for creators to learn about protecting their intellectual property is: don't worry about it so much. It isn't the idea thats important, its the execution. Execute your vision well, and it doesn't matter if your revolutionary idea is cloned a billion times, because yours has quality and love. And if yours doesn't exude quality and love? Then it doesn't matter how revolutionary your initial idea was, you didn't produce a compelling product.

I... agree? Not sure why I'm getting a rant here

Wasn't meant as a rant. I just know lots of awesome creators who are so terrified of someone 'stealing' their hojillion dollar idea that they get paralyzed by fear and never do anything. I apparently misunderstood your initial post as hesitation to be open with ideas as a safeguard against theft. The long post was meant as an encouragement to go forth and make awesome things without worrying.

Oh, haha, naw I was just going for a dumb joke. Tynic did it better.

I will admit I DO obsess over "has anyone else done this?" when I come up with ideas tho, probably moreso than I should.

I did. I haven't had a chance to bring him to Tuscaloosa which is where I want to take the pictures with him.

i wonder if anyone's still working on trying to make pages like cascade a little less... just a youtube video on the new site

or if they've just decided, nah fuck it, that is too much effort for too little payoff

Yeah, that's why I still have the download from 7 years ago.
To play it, open cascade.htm in your browser.

You may share this with your friends by sending them the zip file, or by hosting it on your webspace. If you host on your webspace, upload folder as-is, and point url to the HTML file.

I only advise not sharing it by streaming video or youtube or such. It looks like crap. Please keep it in its native format.
